Is the Passport Number the 9 digit number to the right of my Photo? If it is I can`t get any further than that.

followed the process right up until the app reads the chip in my passport it gets up to 16% then an "Error" box pops up.
Tried it several times same outcome. I never moved my phone while it was reading the chip.
what can i do now?
I rang the Passport Office they told me to get in touch with you.
Rang Experian but unless your a member they don`t want to know.
