- So you just bought a brand new bind and fly FPV drone...well it may not be as easy after the bind part to get to the fly part as you might think. Today I am going to walk you through some things you need to do in BetaFlight before you ever get it in the air, and a couple of things you just shouldn't do. Come along for a tour of the configuration tools and watch your step for all of the extra open source grease!

So as a super noob, I found your rates to be very nice and stable. The most confident I have been on the sticks yet. I don’t have any flying quads at the moment, they are all broken or won’t bind, so I put it into the sim. Running the same tracks I’ve been practicing, I felt slow… then I crossed the finish line to a FASTER time. You know your on to something when it FEELS slow, but is faster. Mahalo!

Funny how this worked out. I just built 2 quads for some friends of mine. I offered to build em but they have to bind to their radios / goggles and set them up in betaflight. I sent them this vid to at least get them started on learning the BF basics. Great job as always. Thank you.

Yes u r right gps take too long hey but for those that like lrng is ok but for me I used a boser so i heard where it is. Lol great video bacon.😊
I don't even run the buzzer....live dangerously :p lol. I do set up the motor beacon though, because 3 foot tall grass doesn't play when it comes to hiding quads.

Great video man, noticed that i didn't have the preset for 50hz elrs setup, fixed it!
good catch! Those ELRS presets can really make a difference, especially at the higher packet rates.
im just getting into fpv drones and im 8 mins into this video and just realized this is a 50 min video
its....a lot, lol. sorry it is so long, but its a bunch of things hard learned over years. I hope it doesn't bore you too much, but I will totally understand if it does :p

Great video as always. I watched this as I was setting up a bnf baby ape v2. It came with Eli’s built in bit I couldn’t get to work so I installed a betafpv nano receiver in instead and bound it right up. Just took my first flight and it was a success!!
hey, when SPI lets you down soldering up a UART receiver is a smart way to go!!!
The Mobula6 ELRS900 was sold as a bind and fly.... yeah riiight, its a not bind and not fly, its a buy and hide. You buy it and try to bind it and then hide it because it is sooo aggrivating to get to work... its either you hide it or stomp the livin sheet out of it...
lol, SPI based ELRS can be a realllllllll headache, that is no lie.

Good video hey :) oh can you of course if you find the time and want to make a video on making a solderless drone or one with minimal soldering. with the MR30's 3.5 or 5 inch . anyway long time no chat bro ,i been in fair bit of pain offto get operated on soon as they an work a date out then after that back surgery i should be able to get back into the drones :) love ya bacon brother take care i cant sit here any longer its burning :P peace
I am actually about to use some of the MR30 connectors on a 5" build over the next couple of weeks! Hopefully you get to feeling better soon, and can get back to flying those quads you been building. Take care man!
Hello, love your vids btw. So i built a drone using a speedy bee f405v3 I put a Betafpv nano receiver on my stack. and i cant get it to bind with my Betafpv lite 2 se controller can you please help me with issue and/or let me know which receivers and transmitters i should use. Thank you
There is a good chance that your receiver came with a 3.x version of ELRS on it while your Lite 2 radio will only work on ELRS 2.x. You will want to flash an older version of express lrs onto that receiver since you can't currently go above 2.x on the Lite radio. One of the downsides to that particular controller :(
wish i would have seen this a few months ago when i got my first quad. not enough people mention these things when they are talking about how to get started with flying drones
they just say; buy radio - practice in sim - buy drone - go fly. lol no one mentions that theres some extra learning and steps to take before flying the real thing

Hi Bacon, I'm Peter from Germany, I had a big problem with my brand new foxeer foxwhoop 35 4s. It's the hdzero expresslrs version. I just renewed my betafpv nano module to 3.0 expresslrs. Then had problems that my jumpert-lite 'first version' could no longer read a lua script, but fixed. Then checked everything, cable screws etc. made dump and diff. binding phrase created. then updated the foxeer expresslrs receiver with my binding phrase. it looked good....no connection to the transmitter? betaflight mute. the flashing from the receiver changed and then... blue continuous light. lipo connected. again and again up to ten times, it flashed or not. Oh no.. two days of internet research until I found a clue.. repair a bricked expresslrs receiver...what?.. ordered a betafpv tool especially for this case, lucky that a german dealer had it. two days later the tool was used, a tedious affair. and bam the receiver was alive again. betaflight connected..nothing??? then unscrewed probs, lipo usb everything connected. two binding attempts and...connected.. start try with probs etc. all good. But now when I want to make a change in betaflight I always have to connect the lipo, otherwise the jumpert-lite is not recognized. very confusing. By the way, I've tried all kinds of USB cables, normal data, etc. It's not because of that, even different USB inputs. maybe you have the ray of hope where it still depends. no matter he flies and doesn't cause any more trouble. It's now enough with the bindery. So it is always important to pay attention to whether the receiver is bricked. So long Bacon, cheers PETER
