RUclips read my mind. I was thinking about fun games I wanted to play and stumbled upon my old FM3. Now this appeared on my recommendation. I love FM3. I'm a sucker for turn based strategies, and FM3 ticks all the boxes for me. The story is amazing. The route changes based on the player's actions so it's 100% replayable if you want to see the other story route. I guess FM5 cranked all of them up to 100 but that old school vibes is what I'm here for. Gameplay wise you can build stuff based on the wanzer and the pilot speciality, so it's a bit like role-playing. You can build a wanzer using double knuckles with the eject punch skill and knocking out enemy pilots off their wanzers, build a sniper role where you can destroy wanzer limbs in one hit, or just a simple artillery build using missiles and grenade launchers destroying enemies from afar. It's very addicting.
I recently tried FM3 for the first time in my life - and man, I understand that people like the branching storyline, but plot itself is almost unbearably stupid, characters as well. I may move onto other games but eventually, I always come back to _'FM3'_ (I've played and love _'FM 1st'_ and _'FM 4'_ as well). I personally love the graphics but, I know some might be put off by the highly pixelized graphics. They remind me of _'METAL GEAR SOLID'_ graphics on the PSOne. I have racked up about 2000+ hrs. in the game cause I've been using the same game save data since the early 2000's. I've unlocked every Battle Skill for every single character in both storylines. I bought this game blindly. Never heard of the series before and it was a massive and pleasant surprise. I love how long the game was. Great characters, great storylines, great graphics, great gameplay, great sound/music. Challenging and fun all the way. Too bad Squaresoft never knew how to properly manage the _'Front Mission'_ series cause they were always too busy focusing on Final Fantasy (which I also love). I thought it was extremely disrespectful of Square Enix to basically kill the series and then try to bring it back as _'Left Alive'_ without even crediting the _'Front Mission'_ series at all. I also hated how they changed the gameplay from strategy RPG to generic first person shooter in 'Evolved'. I bought my Switch just a few months ago just to play _'FM 1st Remake'_ and I'm loving it! Forever Entertainment has done a great job bringing this classic back to life and looking better than ever! Good on FE, bringing _'FM 1st'_ to PS, PC and Xbox now. Can't wait for the _'FM 2 & 3'_ remakes as well! Sadly, 'Borderscape' is no longer to be released under the _'FRONT MISSION'_ brand. It now has a different name. Shame cause it was looking really good. Hopefully, Forever Ent. will remake all the previous turn based SRPG _'FM'_ titles and _'Gun Hazard'_ in the future. It would be great to replay all those classics with upgraded graphics, sounds, gameplay mechanics etc. Really cool video here! Nod in your direction...
