Your audio problem isn't a Plasma Mobile problem, it looks like it's a KDE Neon problem. That's unsurprising, as Neon is a mess: old Ubuntu LTS with fresh KDE bolted on top. Audio works for me on Manjaro Plasma Mobile, but sometimes I have to switch it to use the speaker instead of the headphone port. The Plasma Community Edition Pinephone will be shipping with Manjaro Plasma Mobile, not Neon.
Noted. That's really good to know! Funnily enough, I haven't even considered using different distros to test one same, umm, "desktop" enviroment. I suppose I could make an other video specifically about KDE with another distro, such as Manjaro. Especially since that's what will be pre-installed.. I would like to clear up that fact. Thank you!
if you want bleeding edge kde while using a stable release try opensuse leap with the kde extras, oopsie you were talking about the mobile version :) ... for that .. arch is king on the pinephone
I really like the spoken word poetry at the beginning of the video. Kde plasma still doesnt have relative polish that phosh has, but from the last time I looked into it, it clearly is improving quite rapidly! I can't wait for it to be on-par and surpass phosh! Writing this from my pinephone using Arch and phosh :)))
I'm glad you enjoyed my artistic liberties! Indeed, Plasma's lookin' pretty good. Yeah, I like phosh, I like the solid base they have created. It's awesome that you used the PinePhone to write this comment!!
@@amirmukhlis4936 well, yes! As long as you have a compatible kernel, I wouldn't see why not. How to do so is quite the other story though. I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough to answer that yet. :)
@@tomacaster sure! That sounds great! I have done a video talking a bit about postmarketOS, but I could go more in detail. I think the next video will be about Ubuntu Touch.
The reason 2048 is so much smoother is because its a GTK app : ) So yes, KDE is the way to go mobile... ...if you absolutely hate yourself. Its unbelievable, Plasma Mobile has a 10 year history and has lived under several names and still feels and works like a quickly hacked together UI concept in QML and damn is it slow even for pinephone standards.
Ah, interesting! I was unsure, I was under the impression that KDE was so much lighter than... well, not GTK, but Gnome. And a hand full of light UIs use Qt. For the most part, I didn't find the OS itself to be too slow, though. It ran about as fast as Phosh, as far as I could tell. Except for that horrid "app shop" on KDE, woah. Well, it makes sense that it would be a bit slow using QML instead of GTK, especially if mixed with C. But, I really didn't have too many issues with it. Generally speaking.. I'll be sure to check out more GTK stuff in the future!
@@elatronion idk, Gnome runs a lot better on my pinebook pro, smooth animations, especially working Wayland and the shell uses between 80-120MB ram. Can't get much lighter for a fully scriptable desktop.

@@elatronion Manjaro hasn't made the latest KDE images very easy to find.
Nightly images are here: kdebuild.manjaro.org/images/dev/
@Wake Up Call either one should do just fine, it depends who you'd like to support! Remember that you can always flash any OS/DE you want.

@@elatronion Alright, pack up Bois, We go to the pinephone website!
Thanks for the headsup. Ill wait a little while.
Make a review of every distro for pinephone
Okay, I will! :)
definitely the best plasma mobile review! it's a pity it's so short. Could you test some other pinephone OSes?
Thanks!!
Sure, I'd love too review as many as I can! Any suggestions?

If anyone can do it, it'll be the kde team with the help of the manjaro team. I see a very big future for plasma mobile. Very exciting.
This Looks So Cool, Awesome Video! 😄
Thanks! I'm glad you found it enjoyable.

Wasting fifteen seconds at the _beginning_ of your video to tell viewers to subscribe to your channel is not encouraging. Save that crap for the end.

Where from do you get "a 10 year history"? From what I can tell Plasma Mobile originated in 2015.
