I get some distinct 'hippy' vibes from this event, and i mean that as a compliment of course, the atmosphere of fun, creativity and togetherness looks very cool. It seems it is my lucky day today, not only i found your other channel but this one too, and i have many videos yet to see on both, thanks again :)
That's definitely true! But I think it's mostly in the aesthetics than in any hippy philosophy :D Oh, happy to hear that! Haha, I felt like I need to separate all the geeky stuff I do from the travel stuff - but I'm glad that you enjoy both!
If you ever find yourself in the Netherlands early August there's Castlefest on the grounds of Kasteel Keukenhof, which was built by a VOC member in 1641. It has a similar vibe I think :D No horses sadly, but we burn a wicker man on the saturday. This year it was a raven and we had Kai Uwe Faust from Heilung do the ceremony.
That sounds absolutely awesome! Early August... That might unfortunately clash with this one, but I'm sure I'll find time to visit it one of these days :D
A disgrace that they have added an enterance fee - just to enter the market. Especially for the locals who live in Visby, making the barrier for them to enjoy it very high.
@@thisisgeeky best chance to catch me would be to dare to hang around at night in Nordergravar, or be present in the harbour around 5 pm on the wednesday to witness the pirate raid 🤭
You have to watch out for those jugglers...I understand from sources close to me that they are nothing but bad news 🤣 I look forward to watching this again later with Cynthia...she'll dig this, I'm sure.
The guy with a covered face underneath the knife juggler is actually by brother-in-law, and they know the juggler. I can only assume that's why he's so trusting :D Cheers!
@@thisisgeeky That makes sense! People were always apprehensive when I performed to come up and be part of the act. Like, "I trust you to get through your routine without hurting yourself or partner, but I'd rather not be part of that risk."
7:28 Note the big blue Furry guy in a dress walking in the parade. The inclusion of men with fetishes in Pride parades where there are commonly children present, is what has put a lot of people off from supporting or attending them.
It is immersion breaking. I have a feeling they wear the same outfit at any festival they have the chance to attend. Comic Con? It works perfectly. Gotsland? Not so much.
If you can't get enough of Medeltidsveckan you can also check out a video on my Three Star Vagabond channel: ruclips.net/video/sJig9xB18Gg/видео.html

This is definitely on my itinerary now!
It's well worth a trip 😊
for anyone intressted in this event i strongly recommend it! its the best event ever!
forgot about the midnight drunkness at the norde gravar! Thats where the fun happens ;)
I'll have to add that in next year's video - I have a feeling I'll be back, and that I'll document those parts too then :D
@@thisisgeeky sounds good! Its a drunken madness until morning but safe and alot of fun!
4:34 this helmet is the perfect sun blocker.
Haha yeah blocks just about everything 😀
If you stay in the sun its more like a cooking pot :D
@@hipsu555 And there was plenty of sun during those days. I wonder how the helmet smelled on the inside :D
@@thisisgeekyYou can also use it for soup. 🍵
@@Cybercenturycentaur Nice sweaty flavoring after a full day in the sun...

Are there alot of fantasy costumes? Bc my cosplay has deer horns and i rlly dont wanna feel like an outcast
There's always some people who want things to be completely authentic, but I think that the majority would just find the horns awesome 😀

5:10 That's a Norman helmet. I dont think this guy knows what hes talking about.

One of the reason the inofficial week has been created, I would assume!
@@thisisgeekyno the inofficial pre dates the entry fee by several years.
@@annakarlsson6040 Thanks! Very good to know!
it was not that expensive tho but yeah i agree
hehe I see some of my fellow pirates can't avoid getting caught on camera 🤣 Still a mystery to me how I have managed to avoid it all these years!
Well, now I have a mission for next year it seems :D

7:06 Varför kan dom inte bara bete sig normalt? Det är medeltidsveckan. Inte pride.
You mentioned nothing about all the official events that are going on there.
Tornerspelen was mentioned at least!

I didn't go this year 🥲. I usually go to Medeltidsveckan.
And I went for the first time! But definitely not the last time for me...
@@thisisgeeky go to Kapitelhusgården. It's the best pub!
