"You need to belong to a group, you need to have a purpose, you need to use your body, you need to eat foods you're evolved to eat."
There is genius in simplicity
Exercise is the best medicine by far. I often don't feel like exercising but I feel so much better for doing it.
Same mate. I've recently started running. Never want to do it... But when I'm done I feel great!
I crave working out. Who woulda thought the one thing I evaded sooo much for sooo long is the thing that helped me the most and I’m just mad I have a job 40hrs a week because it really cuts into my workout time and I cant do much else but work and workout. Also, love my work, it’s also done wonders for me after being a stay at home mom for 10ish years…mentally and financially the hardest job so far.
It's great, bit some people can't even get to the stage where they try to exercise, because of the way they feel and how they see themselves.
@@ianhollinsworth some people get energized by their emotional life and relationships, pets, writing, etc., others get energized by their mental life through books, movies, relationships, etc., others get energized by their spiritual life with books, groups, purpose, meaningful activities, etc.
@@rmcd823 agreed 👍
I struggle everyday with mental health. I've found it really hard to get anyone to take me seriously. Too often we are told to be positive hide your feelings. Exercise and my dog is how I keep going
me too Melissa, we are very sensitive and don't like the evolution of our world and the powerlessness about the whole deal is devastating. You are not alone and suffering is a sign you CARE. Psychopaths don't get depression.
@@Changeworld408 same. I'm with you
Lockdown has created a lot of anxiety and other mental health problems. I meditate. I swim and garden. I'm a Mosaic artist and that helps to balance my mind.
@@babytabby that's a pity. I find that the way I breath while swimming is like meditation using a full yogic breath. The cool temperature is also calming in a Wim Hof cold bath stylie.
We thought we had problems before lockdown
Nothing compares to what they are about to do
Stay strong.
Thank you Russell. Really trying to put my best foot forward with the cold, darkness of winter already upon me. It's helpful to have this kind of encouragement, and to feel like I have your support, and this community's support, in taking care of my own mental and physical health. Thank you again for your service 💛
Stay strong Sarah!
You are not alone
Did you know Movember is about various Men cancers too, i found this out the hard sad way from someone i cared about. RIP
Hi Sarah I rewatched Russell's video and noticed your comments. I hope you don't mind but I feel compelled to say I hope you are well and are taking good care of yourself
@@onelovemon1784 I'm good! And my recovery is stronger than ever. Russell's guiding light is one of the things that has comforted me through some of the darkest times, and I couldn’t be more grateful to him, and this community. In the last year I have become a yoga instructor, a meditation coach, a trauma and addiction counselor, and a new mother. I have truth and light within me, I take it and share it wherever I go, and my precious daughter is a perfect reflection of the light within me. I am so blessed, so happy, and I look forward to every coming joy and challenge ahead. Thank you for checking in World Love, thank you all for your love and support, and thank you Russell Brand and your team for bringing us all together in love and truth.
Contentment is a huge issue for people nowadays. At least in my opinion. We aren't happy with what we have, and there is a jealousy over what others have instead of being happy for them. Great video, and may God bless you.
Very true. Always being jealous of others seems as tho it would only create a constant state of inner anger. Blessings to all...❤🙏❤
Gratitude leads to contentment 🙏. So I'm trying my best to be grateful for what I have in my life
Brilliant reminder of the things we need to do to look after ourselves and others around us. Thank you
THIS Video exemplifies what I love about Russell Brand. His willingness to be vulnerable which in turn gives permission to the rest of us to be willing to be vulnerable which is ironically a strength in the spiritual domain. I Also, appreciate your depth of honesty and authenticity Russell.
I have made comments on these videos before in the past and actually received negative responses to my support of you.
I'm happy to take the criticism of any of my comments as I have learned enough from your videos to actually not place my self-worth in the hands of these people who are overly politically agendized!
With Love,
~Sage
I totally agree with you Sage. It's reassuring that there are still some decent people in the world. With all the rubbish we are fed I was starting to feel like they were few and far between. That questioning our crazy profit driven world logically and fairly made you the weird and unacceptable one! I love RB's voice of reason, all these lies and who benefits needs to be questioned. Listening to him restores some of my hope in humanity.
Haven read your other comments, but this one is sensitive and very observant considering your understanding of the way Russell works and lets his whole being angage to help others grow and stay sane in these turbulent times.
@@1984Skynet Hello Andy, thank you for you reply and I AM with you 100% 😊!! Keep the faithfulness that each one of us each day has the potentiality to as Russell is to be a Light in the Darkness.
Stay well friend.

@@katarina5866 Thank you for your supportive 💖 reply! YES, Russell is definetly a flame of spiritual wisdom and integrity drawing us towards greater awareness, responsibility, health and SANITY!!
I'm finally coming into the awareness myself of how my greed (be it spiritual or material) blocks me from a true and meaningful connection with others.
Breath deep healing breaths!

There will always be pain and suffering, the trick is not to make it worse for yourself or others.
As a woman, I'd like to express my love & gratitude for men 💞💞
100%, we are living in unnatural situations. We must create and participate within communities
To be candid what I see occuring is acceptance is hard when unacceptable thing's occur. It makes me sad to see as a collective how men and women treat one another. Love is love and the opposite is... what's occuring..
Thank you Russell 💞 I appreciate this channel so much. Giving those of us who do not have the financial means to seek to improve our situations a genuine option for growth and healing is profoundly beneficial. Deep love for who you are and what you do xx
Thank you so much. I love a bit of affirmation. X
@@AwakeningWithRussell You're most welcome. Keep being you
November is such a harsh month to do anything. The Beauty of fall ha s faded, the colorfull lightness before Xmas and the fresh crisp Winter not yet here. The days dark and dull. I just want to cuddle up with a blanket and watch movies. But I guess it's this times more than ever we need to get out of our comfort zone.
Also.... the master mental health *superpower* that frees your heart, heals the past, changes the world.... forgiveness...
Hi Russell as someone who for the first 40 years of my life I was a passenger of his life
Then one Day
I woke up and realised that.
The driver of my life was taking me deeper into the dark . I knew that I was on the right track of life but I was going in the wrong direction.
So one day i was standing waiting for the train to come as I was going to work. At the time l was wallowing in self pity which is the most dangerous place to be in anyone's mind. As my life had fallen apart .
Then something in my mind said I could be free from all this if i stepped out in front of the train.
However something even stronger than that thought entered my mind.
That I had to stop the train in my mind and replace the driver. I'm now the driver of my own destiny ever since.
I knew the driver I've replaced know were I was heading as I had seen the light at the end of the tunnel So the driver of my passed life has gone ahead of me to put obstacles on my track in the hope to derail me then so I would go back to become a na passenger again .
Not a chance as I've learned to use the weight of my train to remove any obstacle which have been placed on my track. How I deal with it is instead of rushing at obstacles which has a good chance of derailing me.
I slow down and use the weight of my train to remove any obstacle which is on my track .which makes my train heavier and I have become a more experienced driver of my life
Thanks to listening to my inner self.
25 years later I've seen my children grow up and I've now have 4 beautiful grandchildren
And the light is getting brighter.
I'm loving being the the driver of my life as I now know it's a ever lasting journey
If my message rezonates with anyone hopefully it will saves a life .
One thing to remember your not on your own reach out and stop that Train if you're life is looking dark.
From a 65 year young grandad
Your journey is so inspiring, so wise. I'm going to visualise myself as your train driver today pushing my obstacles out of the way. I am the driver!! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Russell, it helps. I worry about the men in my life. They need serious love and help.
Yes I agree. My son has lost his purpose and his father is dying with kidney disease right before his eyes. I'm (mom) caught in between. Praying everyday and fighting depression 🙏

I have struggled mentally in the last 2 years....My drug abuse has spiraled out of control tbh...I feel so much calmer and seem to understand the World, with more compassion when I am high, drunk what ever you call it. When I am straight, my anger of what has just happened over the 2 years consumes me and I lash out to those I love. It's shit x The worse thing is, when I am straight, I know I am right, within the confines of my pre-programmed societal conditioning. So I have to conclude the morals i was brought with, are not the ethics and morals presented today. What happened to judging a person by their character?
What I find sucks the most is that I automatically think that I’m not worthy of self respect and therefore the worlds respect because I choose to imbibe in certain drugs daily.
It’s like everyone can see I use drugs- I try like hell not to act/ look like I do.
Then I think “then why do I?”
Damn addictions!
Much happiness to us eh?
And WHY can’t I bring myself to meditate?
@@babytabby see the thing is...I judge you as a consciousness human... because you have read, understood and responded to this...I can only assess people by their reactions...we all hold each other accountable for a better community...we all judge and are judged...thats reality...not saying it's good or bad x
@@bitcoinmining6361 It is so true that we must make 'judgements' in order to maintain our own survival. I think the difference is between judging and discerning. 'Judging' others (in the sense I think our friend above is referring to) is often presumptuous and flawed, because it usually relies on many assumptions on our part, but critically discerning others and the things and spaces around us helps us to evolve and nurture ourselves, others and the world we belong within. Just a little thought-flatulence...😉 Hope you don't mind 💞

Russell you are becoming my Sage for my mental calm and my intellectual...Namaste Sir. Im a woman w Cyclical Panic Disorder, GAD and OCD, but I cope.... Sometimes I walk at 4am but it's ok... I try to ground myself but family life work and money makes it hard to sleep at night. I do meditate and I love it but sometimes a walk gets that adrenaline out.
Yes! Detachment from nature is one of the biggest problems! I am trying to develop a nature therapy program for a local state park to allow for forest bathing trails and spaces to practice it as a part of my Masters. Go walk in nature, and use all of your sense throughout the moments. Get grounded.
I hunt for my meat and grow a garden to can food and store it. We were lucky to be able to pick and eat some raspberries a week ago from our bushes. Screens are so detrimental to health, along with sitting.
Every day I wake up and look to God, I feel as if I could do anything. But then every now and then, I get tripped up full of grief and sorrow. I soak my pillow crying thinking about the day I'll have to say goodbye to someone I love.
Sometimes I feel like all I pursue for work or hobbies is just a sad waste and that I'm never focused enough on serving others the right way.
My dog is getting older, my parents and friends are being diagnosed with health issues, my grandparents just celebrated 50 years of marriage.
The circle of love I have around me is all that I am. I am so afraid, saddened and angered by the idea of losing these people. I am brought to tears when I think about the days where pain outweighs comfort.
I wish we could all just live healthy and happy forever, and I feel like a tremendous fool for that.
You are sweet soul, keep searching for meaning. The world needs you!!
Thank you Russ mate, reminded me it was music i always came back to (writing singing+playing) after i lost a girl, and yet later when im not 100% again music is my best answer YNWA
We need to have more of these conversations
I have discovered Qigong.... I like moving my energy around.
Full blown agoraphobia for years. Lonely/not lonely, terrified of outside. Too raw, too scary, too fast, need safety zone my house. Don't go to drs appointments anymore, hiding from the phone and Facebook. Living with a gaslighting narcissistic control freak is not even the reason. Fear is real. Blessings to you Russell and all 🇨🇦✌🙏🙏🙏
Take little steps to rebuild yourself and your life. You only get one
Wow this makes sense.
Not much else does anymore.
Diet has also a lot to do with state of mind. Its really important to eat well and feed your brain the nutrients it needs. Since covid started and I paid more attention to my immune system I have been eating lots more vegetables and making sure I get the best for my body. I definitely feel better with better nutrition. There are so many aspects to it of course but finding the balance and learning how to manage our emotions is so important. Be responsible for ourselves. Meditation is key as well. Breathing exercises and out door activities etc We can probably all learn better ways to be self responsible. It's not easy in human society with so many survival pressures and not enough compassion in the world.
@Mom_B_Salty also bad for people with certain autoimmune flares that affect the digestive system; I was told by a Professor at the hospital.
Excellent video, I will definitely be sharing with as many people as possible. I have faith RB will save humanity & save the world.

"Lethargy must be addressed with engagement, frustration with expression" - very straightforward & insightful way of identifying an issue and how to potentially address it! I will use this!
You are a beautiful person, Mr. Brand. Thank you for sharing this video, love the sincerity.
Thank you Russell I struggle-with chronic pain and depression due to it. Mental health is something I have to work at sometimes every day. Prayer and faith sustain me through most days and your channel, meditation and painting are other tools I implement. Thank you for what you do. I appreciate your channels so much. You genuinely seem to care about people.
I find the deepest people tend to be the ones that have suffered. Keep doing what you do. You’re a Rockstar guru❣️
Thanks for sharing Russell. We work with men suffering from anxiety, and it's wild how many men are struggling so profoundly these days. Thanks for all you are doing.
Russell you are the realest human on the planet, i feel i connect with you more than anyone else on this rock. keep it up i love the content my man!
I found 5 sessions of hypnosis has changed my subconscious deep down ,finally stopped smoking, which was a huge relief ,and through the session i met my saboteurs and realised what I have been up against. The session got them to change their….. fuck it mantra .in too you don’t smoke and you going bike riding early in the morning and loving it .we did fear ,anger , forgiveness,The final was self love and that has been the best thing and the root cause of all of my shite .and I feel it most when I sing. So great. I actually think this guy should be on your chat x
I only have you tube and I shall leave it at that since I have had a bad experience on other media apps.
I think I understand what is happening.
People years ago only had each other and their churches for reassurance and guidance.
Nowadays, people are losing their faiths and losing who they are in the process .
It’s a very limited explanation but I think people such as Russel and Jordon have become these modern churches for people in need of finding themselves and the need of reassurance as well as other important lessons.
So , I think it is of the most importance that we have these new age spiritual guides.
God bless to you all and keep up the vastly important work.
Yes Russell I appreciate the coming back to wellbeing and mental health because the things going on in the world can be overwhelming and looking after ones health should always come first although the two are linked as you say..the personal is political.I always saw my depression as my own personal failing and felt so ashamed like I was weak and just couldn't back it or make it like others do.
You're a legend Russell. Your videos have helped me more than I can say. Hope to shake your hand and give you a hug one day. Love to you from down under! 🙏🇦🇺🙏
I loved your sample guided meditation on Luminosity. Due to medical debt I can’t afford it right now so thank you for providing free meditations here on RUclips and for all you do.
This is deep I was asking a friend this yesterday, like what is it, why are so many people having anxiety! Like that feeling of going to dye or deep doom! and it's with women. I know women who too have committed suicide, even leaving a baby behind, and yes its just an un-natural consumer society! This has inspired me to go and and walk in nature and find some mushrooms! lol Yoga really works for me thank you Russell
I suffered with these thoughts, of inadequacy. I recently had an awakening about breath, a secret I want to share but know that I cannot, you must find it for yourself. It is enough to say that we are destined for more and you are the love of the universe. Follow the breath, it is the teacher, you are more than you feel yourself to be. Thank you Russell, I hope we can meet and speak some day, I love you all, you are all superstars keep up the work.
You are an inspiration. Thank you.
Thanks 👍🏾... Always a pleasure to watch
Been a medical practitioner for over 35 years now. Men have so many pressures on them, and cultural issues prevent many from seeking help simply because mental health issues are considered Unmanly. It's heartbreaking, honestly. The Fall is a very difficult time for all of us as a sentient biological species that is burdened with far more than storing our nuts for the Winter.
God bless you, Russell. Glad you mentioned this channel on your other more political commentary channel. I have grown to respect you as a soul that is capable of helping me focus on the things that actually matter, since I'm a naturally optimistic person, but have always struggled with the shorter daylight with a seasonality that I can see even in my middle school report cards.
Thanks for bringing this to the forefront.
Blessings to you and all you cherish, sir.
Much Love.
Peace Russell and the team and all Four plus Million other subscribers x I've started using meditation in the SEN school I'm at. It's doing wonders for them and me too x I love you Russell. Namaste x
Russell is a powerful orator! Spellbounding. Be careful or he'll rewrite your mind. Makes good points. Stay based.
Tough to deal with this and call a spade a spade. Thank you again friend
Russell may have the blueprints for a mental health recovery program. IMO we need support groups for people with mental health issues just like AA. I fall under scattered catagories so there isn't one particular group that can help and where does one fit who has mental health issues?
What helps me the most is being useful and helpful to others. When I'm helping someone else it make me feel useful and in return my problems seem to get very small when I do this u can start today God will put someone in your path today stop being so selfish and start helping your fellow brothes God bless 🙌
Russell, I wish we could all live the hunter/gatherer lifestyle. Build a home on a few acres in the asshole end of nowhere. Alas, we can't. There are too many of us. I'm currently sending you this from the states, but I spent a total of 11 years in your fair country, Suffolk to be exact. I loved Suffolk as I love my home here, and will always remember my time there with fondness. What I've come to believe is that we can't live life as people did in decades and centuries passed. What we can do is look after our families, do the right thing at every chance and help the folks who need our help with out the expectation of a reward for doing so. Thank you for this channel. I came here from your other channel, the one full of craziness and such as you said. I don't always see things your way, but I will always take the time to listen to your side of the story before making up my own mind. I'm pretty sure you'd do the same for me. Thanks, and all the best.
Dude Russell, your daily videos have become my favorite and sometimes most meaningful part of the day, keep it up mate.
Love and respect, brother!❤️
I appreciate your opening monologue however I agree that we are all faced with a natural propensity towards negativity first and then positivity which is a conscious decision. Keep your eye on God and your family. These are the true “blessings quoteof life which we tend to take for granted!
I have gone to work again after being off with anxiety & depression. I am on my feet all day. I feel guilty cos I am fit for nothing when I get home . I am exhausted. I assume that eventually I will be able to do 6 million things a day - like when I was normal but maybe I need to accept life will be different from now on.
Your still living a structured existence russel giving purpose to how you live your life strong relationships are important wether it be love or family, secondly id say finance , but i could go on and on when i think about it usually theres core problems that men feel inadequate or a great sense of loss .you have to go and find the root cause ..ive worked in pychiatry for 14 years as a aux nurse and also on the other end so i have exstensive knowledge of it and dealing with it 👍👍
Thank you Russel, you absolute Legend! ❤️ love ya big guy!
i love this thank you russell! you really seem to have your head on straight and seems like that helps to see more clearly
Thanks so much for this video Russell ❤️
Well said. Thankyou for putting forward these issues particularly for Men because there are many more resources for women ( not always good ones but " whatever helps in any way ). As we know, information, openness and inclusion to society as PEOPLE is so needed today. Good guidance is becoming more and more necessary. 🙏
Now I see you.
Seeing you Becoming your feelings as you feel them in moment is a positive example of self realization. the feelings you had during this video, the understanding that you need this space of your life for yourself as well as others, and to know we love you in the actual sense that we love ourselves. I hope you don't feel regret any longer.
I hope you finally find the strength to let go. Don't feel insignificant because of any large number, instead, understanding that you can understand the large number is what's necessary for us to continue. We continue together connected as one even by the very air we breathe ❤
Listening to your meditation and there was an advert in the middle of it...snapped me straight out of it
Thank-you for this Russell.
Thank you Russell. Getting the foundations right is so important. Namaste.
Yeah, there is a mirror there but you are crazy Russel. That is part of why we are here.
I listen to music for therapy. I have depression however appreciate my life. I’m a strong person. But have disabilities that I just can’t get used to mentally. You help me so much
You're so positive, thank you for everything you do xx
UNNATURAL that is the truth and the reason. SPOT ON.
Brandon! I've noticed a couple of comments from you, then this video.
Coping is a problem with most PEOPLE not just men.
We need to learn to cope better. Just for example, whether you like Trump, you think he sits around and says, I don't think I'll make it!!! All the HORRIBLE things people say about politicians true or false....
If not for you and Teal I would have lost it ALONG TIME AGO!
LEAVE, SAY F ALL THIS.
OR STAY and Cope. Talk.
To me it's like a doctor asking how do I heal my self. You have healed so many and can't heal your self. Madness I say, madness.
🙏
Thanks Russel. I’ve been out of work for 3 months now and this helps build back confidence.
Hello Russle 😀 I block my brain from going crazy due too stress of living every day rules work and goverment crap 😂 Instead I read daily words walk and excersie 🙂
Veterans Day should not be in November !!! We lose 22 Vets a day 💔Reach out to a Vet in your life , like you would if you were standing at their graveside , tell them all the things you "wish" you would have said or thought to say to make a difference , do it now 💥💖
I agree with your every word!!!

Nice video. Thank you Russel!
Thanks for the kick in the ass to get moving. I've been recovering from mild covid symptoms for a week or so and I'm dying to go out and get in nature. Off I go. Stay free RB
This is all really helpful advice.
In coming decades I hope there will be greater recognition of the physical causes of 'mental' health symptoms. Nutrient deficiencies (especially minerals), gut health problems, endocrine imbalances (including androgen deficiency in females, estrogen excess), HPA axis dysfunction.. We have not even scratched the surface. The dichotomy of Mental and Physical is keeping us from treating root causes.
That's not to say that meditation, exercise, healthy diet, social support networks etc. can't help. But there are many different routes to 'depression' or 'anxiety', many different causes, so the conventional basic approaches may not be addressing the causes for some.
Maintaining Mental Health is not the same as managing Mental Illness. A lot of the conversation (and funding) these days is about the former (think R U OK day, Movember, etc). It's incredibly important, but it leaves those who are already deep in it.. out of the conversation.
Side note, yes male suicide rates are higher (successful completion), but female suicide attempts are actually highest. No gender is more at risk than another. But we do need to consider the different factors which put them at risk, we desperately do need to NOT diagnose and treat men/women/trans folk the same when it comes to mental illness.
What's happening in people's bodies and lives causes mental illness. And what happens in someone's body and life is directly affected by their gender identity and biological sex, among other things.
We have tried to take gender out of things, treat everyone the same so there is no 'discrimination'. But this approach in health care is dangerous because it ignores fundamental realities about systemic functional differences in male and female bodies. Most healthcare practised today has been developed based on, and for, the male body. We need gendered healthcare.
This is amazing Russel
Love you too! And love the spiritual side of you and appreciate all your content, xoxo 😚
This video was great!! You really hit the nail on the head, with your points about lethargy and frustration, we go around our daily lives feeling painfully stifled and unable to articulate it at times, but you've brilliantly put an explanation for the daily torment of the mind which we all experience due to the faulty capitalist system. I am female but really respect this angle of addressing male mental health as its often swept under the rug. Fantastic helpful video with proper advice, you do more for the people than their own country does, by showing people what is oppressing them and how to change it.i love the regular channel but also love the calm tone you take on this side channel. Such an antidote to this crazy world. Thanks for everything Russell you really make a difference in so many people's lives
Just wanted to say that I think 2 things were inadvertently left out of this; trauma and interpersonal connection. And they are pretty pivotal. Most serious mental health conditions are caused by trauma. Mental health conditions are most successfully remedied by interpersonal connection. You can life a life full of good eating, meditation, exercise, connection to nature etc etc, but if you are either still caught in a subconscious reaction to trauma and/or you don’t have any significant and meaningful interpersonal connections, you will still most likely suffer.
I am concerned that there’s too much focus on what you can do as a singular being and that essentially healing is absolutely within you to achieve through acts you can compete. But if you spend all your time on introspection and personal growth without understanding the psyches relationship to past trauma and/or the importance of meaningful human relationships, the true healing can never be complete.
✌️
In essence I believe you're referring to the importance of shadow work. Is this so?
The ability to not only use the light type activities to allow those perspectives in like is suggested, but also to delve into the depths where the shadows are and acknowledge why they are there and process them. Shadow work, as I understand it: processing the shadows.
Hello You,
Really enjoyed this video, as it connected with me on a very personal level. As someone who is striving to collect themselves up off the floor, its good to hear and learn from others. My struggle is trying to get out of my head, drowning in my thoughts and emotions.
Looking forward to watching more on the channel and joining in some meditation .
Thanks Russell for reaching out to all of us and sharing some wisdom, hope, and support.
Stay Free :)
Suggestion: I first thank you for an excellent video and for all the work you do. It would be great to have your opinion on the views of the psychiatrists Joanna Moncrieff and Sami Timimi as well as the the medical journalist Robert Whitaker. And it would be extremely interesting if you would interview these individuals. Each of them have something to say in relation to psychiatry. I think it is important for the general public to hear the different voices in the field, particularly when they have pertinent information to share. Many thanks to you.

❤💙💜 I love your shamanism beautiful 😍
I can honestly say I feel crazy it's a crazy 🌎.
"shut down, switch off" that's exactly it
As a man who used to struggle with depression these are the most helpful things I can think of:
-Take Risks, don't let the fear of failure stop you from trying something new or something great
-Do things that genuinely scare you or that you're afraid of (Even little things like climbing onto a roof and helping to put up Christmas lights if you're afraid of heights or saying something to the cute cashier girl other than "hi" and "thanks")
-Pursue an ambitious goal, one that a lot of people don't believe you can achieve (It doesn't even matter if you fail this because no matter what the pursuit of an ambitious goal will make you a better person and give you fulfillment) With that being said, do your best to succeed
-Have a passion, basically this means to find a hobby that you enjoy so much that you will spend hours and hours getting better at it
-Study history, pick a role model, and then analyze the traits of your role model and list the reasons why you admire them. Then start to emulate these traits in your everyday life and eventually you will become your own role model.
-Don't ever quit something just because it's hard (You can quit a crappy job if it's not the right fit for you, but never quit solely based on the fact that something is difficult). Embrace challenges and look for opportunities to improve yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually.
-Never put yourself down. Try not to think negative things about yourself and especially never say them out loud. You will think more highly of yourself when you say positive things about yourself, at the very least avoid putting yourself down on purpose.
-Live purposefully. Have a direction for your life and if you don't already have one, make one. Decide what's most important to you and live accordingly. If you have a family or even a single loved one, your first priority (other than serving God if you're religious) should be to provide for them, to protect them, and to help them become the best version of themselves
-Develop Integrity. I can't even explain how much this increases your self-repsect. Be honest, be trustworthy, don't cheat (unless you're in a street fight) and live with honor.
-Find a hobby that you're really passionate about and strive to become a master at it
-Finally, probably the most important thing I can say is to think less about yourself. Think less about yourself but not less of yourself. In other words, think about other people before you think about yourself, especially your family and loved ones. If you're focused on helping them with their problems I can promise you that your problems will become less important and less troublesome. Look for opportunities to help others and make them feel better about themselves. Nothing lifts you out of depression better than helping someone out of theirs.
I hope this helps. I realize that some people are genetically predisposed to having a harder time with depression, but I believe that there's nothing you can't overcome with a strong mindset. In addition, I strongly believe that going through depression and having such terrible lows actually gives you the capacity to feel even greater happiness and joy. The reason I say this is because when you feel genuine joy after being depressed for so long you can't help but feel grateful.
The beauty of life is that we are meant to experience the full range of human emotions, from happiness to anger to jealousy to despair to joy. We couldn't feel genuine happiness if we never knew what it was like to be sad. If I could talk to whoever is reading this face-to-face, what I would say to you would be simple: don't quit. A quote from Winston Churchill kept me going in times when I thought I had nothing left, he said: "If you're going through Hell, keep going."
Everything in life can be and is meant to be an opportunity to make yourself better, and depression is no exception. Keep fighting, all of you are descended from warriors no matter what culture or country you are from. You wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the conquering spirit of your ancestors. Live a life that would make them proud. While most of us will not fight in physical wars, no one is exempt from the battlefield of life. Depression can be a battle every single day, every single second in some cases. Keep fighting, it will only get better. And the more you fight, the more you will gain respect for yourself. I've conquered my depression. Every now and then it will start to try and creep back into my mind but I don't let it. I destroy those feelings with action. I go lift weights, I go running, I listen to metal music, whatever it takes for me to regain my confidence.
You can conquer depression, no matter how severe it is. That doesn't mean you'll never have days where you feel down, but it does mean that you'll have the strength to push through and do what you need to do as a man regardless of how you're feeling. Stay strong, stay hard, and fight like dragons 🐉 You're going to be very glad you did.
offtopic: my daughter has had mental illness for years. A doctor had her start 2 cups of raw milk per day in order to rebuild her organs. In about 2 months, the psych doctor was able to greatly reduce her medication. By 4 months, she appeared to be normal. All the problems were gone. She is not ready to go to college or hold down a job because if she does too many things in one day, she becomes incoherent and needs to go to bed, but none of those horrible things that come with mental illness. The activity tolerance is increasing. We will see how she does over the next year.

None of this was your fault... you were just a child who should have been protected. As an adult you must protect yourself, forgive and become the person you are meant to be. Good luck, your personal journey gives you depth and integrity just like Russell!!

RB is such a kind & generous spirit; two ideals I'd strive for, over perfection, any day. (Recently began taking cold showers to boost my energy & metabolism. Like exercise, it's tough to start. 😬 But once you become used to doing it you actually look forward to it. It's strange but I feel physically & mentally amazing afterwards. As many others say as well.)
Yeah, the cold blast after the warm humidity is like scratching an itch, somehow...
I do it, and the chilly bathroom feels warm as I emerge from the shower cubicle. Added bonus there.
Hey Russell. I hope you are doing well today. I pray for you to receive vibrations of love and nourishment, couldn’t tell if you were kinda down in this video. I know you don’t read comments but this is for incase you do. Namaste and stay strong brother. We’re all in this push for positivity, mental health, and divine truth together❤️🔥☯️☮️🕉⚛️
Thank you
Great advice and excellent engagement and humor , as always🔭🔭🔭
One thing I can never do is tell people how bad my mental health can be and still can't
I have PTSD and have to focus on daily life/routines to get through everyday.
How do we find a group? I can't even afford to get away from my children.
Thank you so much for the suggestions and advice. Very appreciated.
Many groups are online these days, so you are likely to find a variety to choose from there.
Best wishes.
IMHO, perhaps get involved with a group who helps people less fortunate than yourself. homeless, disabled veterans... you may start to focus on a cause more important than your own, and thereby do good for someone else and consequently make you feel better about yourself.
I love to listen to all you have to say because you are so genuine, sharing with us your experiences, difficulties, thoughts and spiritual journey. Love your unique wisdom and humour. I think that you’re a beautiful soul Russell. I’m a Christian, and so disagree with the premise of shine of your arguments. However, this? This is something upon which we can agree.
Huge fan. Please keep doing these good deeds. 👍🏼
