I've been looking at a lot of split toes lately... And I must say this is really one of the most beautiful, well proportioned, and versatile (in terms of what one can wear it with and look elegant) split toe derbies in the market. Thank you for sharing!
Hmmm Edward Green Dover and Galway are great! I think I’d look at Spanish and Italian makers for light Blake stitched loafers both for fit and design. Although you’d get far more wear out of a suede Dover in terms of longevity!
I was on the fence for pulling the trigger on a pair of EG recently -- had similar thoughts like you raised in this video. I also feel that they charge a lot for what is a relatively small amount of improvements over say C&J. The leather feels nicer and is thicker and they supposedly use leather stiffeners rather than plastic, but is that really worth 3x the price of C&J? With that question in mind I still pulled the trigger on a MTO pair of Cranleigh, as I wanted a boot but love the Dover look. I hope it will be worth it.
i have both a normal C&J vs edward green is like comparing the mercedes E class vs mercedes S class. both are great but one is clearly better. believe me both are great, but the EG is one of the most comfortable shoes i ever had. the lining the insole everything is slightly better. but the handgrade of C&J is more like a base S class vs EG which is a S500
Appreciate what you are doing however would like to have a little more “shoe knowledge” included in your videos. Shoes are beautiful pieces of everyone’s wardrobe and I find how they are designed, constructed, and cared for fascinating. I would appreciate more insight to the shoes you are reviewing. Price, model, type, construction process, materials used, and a bit more of the history are all topics that interest me. Again, I enjoy your videos but a bit more info would be great. Cheers.
This isn’t really a full review. I do pricing in unboxing videos and I actually measure stitch density, waist size, in shoe battles. This is more of an informal discussion before I’ve worn it enough for a review.

The Dover is the best split toe ever and it ages beautifully.

No regrets. I’m sure you won’t have any either.
As much as I admire and enjoy C&J (especially the handgrade), EG is on another level.
