The series, based on Richard Gadd’s real-life experiences, follows Donny (Richard Gadd) being stalked by a woman named Martha. Despite the show’s creators going “to such great lengths to disguise her”, Fiona Harvey claims she is the inspiration behind the character of Martha.
Harvey slammed the series, stating it is “just complete nonsense”, and refuted the claims made by Netflix and Gadd.
Baby Reindeer alleges Gadd’s stalker sent him over 41,000 emails, but Harvey says “that’s simply not true.” She said, “If somebody was sending 41,000 emails or something, they’d be doing how many a day? Lots.”
She added, “None of that’s true. I don’t think I sent him anything… No, I think there may have been a couple of emails exchanged, but that was it. Just jokey banter emails.”
Harvey told Piers Morgan she planned to sue Gadd and Netflix. In a final message for Gadd, Harvey said: “Leave me alone, please. Get a life, get a proper job, I am horrified at what you’ve done.”
