Bought an a7r3a to compliment the a7siii's. Working on making a 20 year old Tamron 70210 with leaded glass work, and this lens is the sweetest picture quality -ever-. But seriously, what's with the commentary about the lens paint? Smallrig added a tiny splash of colour to their cages, but why not some serious colour? We're not Henry Ford from the 20's, are we? hehe heh.. Good video. Keep trucking!
The White paint gets a little dirty so I have to wipe it down with a wet wipe after my shoots! I love the white, it just needs a little more care! And props to that lens! I'm sure the image looks freaking awesome!
Thanks for sharing. I'm a video newbie and gone a similar way. I bought a SmallRig cage for the Ninja V which comes with loads of mount points a HDMI clamp and a useful hood which is pretty effective even in bright sunshine. For a matte box I considered a PP Basecamp as I already used a 2-5 VND from Polar Pro. But ultimately decided the Tilta Mirage was better, cheaper, has a higher VND range (2-9 but suggest max is really 8 stop), takes industry standard 4x5.65 filters or cheaper non proprietary 92mm round filters (much cheaper). It's also power adjustable with a Tilta hand control - much like follow focus. I'm curious why you find a 70-135 cinema lens so good - what do you shoot that best suits that? I would have thought that a 24-70 and a 70-200 GM mkii might work even better with either AF or manual focus when needed. I'm lucky having had both lenses in my stills shooting kit, as well as several fast GM primes. I'm happy that focus breathing is now available on my new FX3. My main issue is up skilling myself. I need to do a lot of practice and learning to get really proficient.
Love it Chris! I've got quite a similar setup for the A7SIII, except for the tilta handle. It seems really nice, and would fix some of the frustrations I have with my current rig. I might need to try it 🖖
When it comes to interviews do you run an xlr cable directly into the fx3 or do you run a external recorder? Your work inspired me to get into corporate interviews!
Honestly, it feels weird to love a camera as much as I loved my Black Magic. Still an incredible camera but the lightweight and versatile nature of the FX3 fits my current clients so much better than my BMPCC!
@@ChrisFranklinJr I can imagine! At this point, it’s really about the extras. The image quality is pretty much identical but weight, use, form factor, among other things are determining factors. Glad you finally settled on something that makes YOU happy!
Love it! Does the top handle still feel sturdy with all that added weight if you’re carrying by only the top handle? (I’ve been having trouble trusting the top handle with added weight haha)
I just sold my tilta Nano-N kit. I felt the motor was not strong anoth for stiff lenses such as my SLR 25mm. And Also had way to often signal interference. Cant rely on client shoots with equipment that fails on you at the wrong moment. I figured spending more on this item & not go with Tilta on this item. What is your real experience with it?
Wow really? I personally haven't experienced any of that yet, but I can definitely keep my eyes open for it! So far, mine has been pretty smooth for what I've used it for.
What project are you working on? Are you using a camera rig or keeping it simple?
Currently keeping it simple. A7SIII vanguard tripod and 24-70 GM. Working my way up to purchasing a second camera.
Stumbled upon your channel before I head to my office to edit. Great stuff man!
I'm a fan of keeping mine pretty compact but I just like listening to you talk so here we are. Keep it up, man!
Your color grade and exposure is beautiful. Love your work!
For clarity, that quick release base is an arca Swiss form factor, not NATO. Thanks for the video!
New sub and FX3 owner. I love the follow focus zoom control, super cool and clever! Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

@@ChrisFranklinJr The older we get the more we need wet wipes. ! You know, they make bag things for when you gotta go swimming in the mud.

Great video! Love that setup. I'm a canon user, but I almost went in on an FX3. Love it!
Great video, what tripod are you using with the fx3?
Is there a tripod you recommend? Love your vids btw!!
Great video. With the V-mount battery mounted there does it interfere with accessing the camera buttons and control wheel?
Damn Chris the DZO white on the textured flag of the Basecamp!
Looks sooo good!!
Using the zoom lenses, do you miss faster primes or are the lenses working for you? Low light performance good as well?

Where you been man?!
POSTING TOMORROW! It's been too long!!
Love me a good rig build video! Nicely done!
Thank you so much! One of my favorites!
Loving this rig man!
Nice! How does it feel to move on from BM? I imagine for the work you do the autofocus and battery come in handy.

meng wish you used the tilta cage.

Nice setup!!!
Great video, as usual
Nice Review.
My guy! Another one! That thing is ridiculous! 😂
Dude amazing rig
Thank you so much, Jared! I spent a good bit of time nailing this one down!
you didn't lie, you were wrong
You couldn't resist eh?
Dude I TRIED! I literally out it off for months! But what I started filming changed, so… the camera build changed too lol
amazing rig
You lied? Man! You lie in each and every video. Nothing new. :)))))
What a liar ;)
