As an American of 35 years, playing 8 ball pool in clubs since I was maybe 5 with my father, only discovering the game of snooker along with these snooker legends possibly 10 years ago? I can easily say this channel is just a pure delight. Can’t believe This is available free of charge on RUclips! Thank you, Steven!
Hi Stephen. Showed this to Ray Reardon today. He chuckled at the him and Bill Werbeniuk morning session story. Also when Dennis said about ray didn’t make a lot of 100 breaks but loads of one frame visit breaks. He said he felt he didn’t want to wear himself out and that he said he’d have an 80 and his opponent can have the other 20 😂. He remembers the match where Dennis said ray played some of the best snooker he’s seen. Said he only missed like 2 pots the whole tournament. What a character he is. And still playing at 90. Helped me for Q school this year. Wealth of knowledge about the game. So many great story’s
What a lovely man. Dennis is. Didn't get much sleep in 1985. But was a experience I'll never forget. Dennis Taylor. World champion. Can never take that away from him .🏆👍
I did not realize Dennis has been at the Cruicble in some capacity every year it has hosted the World Championship. Definitely has made a big contribution to the game of snooker.
Not only a true legend but What a rich piece of history!! Stories about playing with Alex in the early days?! Knowing Fred Davis?! 😱 All the barn-storming stories about an almost lost era .. 😮 😢 Times with Reardon!? WOWOWOW these elder-sportsmen should be HONOURED & RESPECTED by the young players for what they pioneered in the sport!! 🫡 Thanks again for taking the time to showcase this true gentleman & ambassador 💪👌😊
I could listen to Dennis talk about snooker history for hours. He’s got so many tales and he’s a great storyteller, I’d like to see him on again, or maybe do a proper podcast.
My mum and dad bumped into Dennis a few years back at Belfast airport and they said he was the nicest person. It was actually him who initiated a conversation because we're from the same county as him and he overheard them talking and recognised the accent. He just seemed like a really humble fella.
This is probably the best thing I've seen on RUclips this year. Dennis seems like such a genuinely nice person and Stephen is such a great interviewer!
This should be 2 hours and 29 minutes not just 29 mins!!!!! What a legend Dennis Taylor is, hope he continues to commentate for years and years! Awesome work Stephen, love your channel, keep it up!
Nice to see Jim Meadowcroft and John Spencer being remembered. I made a tribute video about him a while back with Dominic Dale for my Cues n Views channel. These memories are a true delight. Well done chaps.
Dennis is probably my favorite personality in the whole scene. Such a great guy and a great commentator too. Happy to see him featuring on this series.
I actually love the fact you’re able to use the actual crucible camera angles in the crucible for this video, with a legend of the game, shows how much of an impact on the game you have to be able to make this video, keep up the good work
I remember meeting and playing pool against Dennis when he hosted our end of year presentation night for the exmoor pool league. He said he hadn't played pool much before but by the end of the night he was really showing his class and beating everyone. Very funny and lovely man.
What an amazing pair of utter gentlemen . Both have given joy to people of my age. I remember aged 13 watching Dennis do the 1985 thing. And Mr Hendry being unassailable & awesome in the ‘90’s
Really enjoyed watching this. I was one of those millions who stayed up to watch that final game in '85. Such a lovely series this Stephen. And hats off to Dennis for just being such a great, likeable human being. Respect.
I remember staying up late to watch that great final against Steve Davis. Dennis Taylor is such a great guy and commentator. Hats off to Stephen Hendry, a great of the game, and a total natural at interviewing. Loved this loads😊
Brilliant ! i met Dennis in Hong Kong when the Team were there for the Seiko cup. There was a crowd of them in the Bull & Bear Pub prior to the competition (they weren't drinking alcohol) they asked if I was going the QE Stadium for the match but I did not have a ticket and it was full so they took me along put a chair in the corner of the players enclosure so that I could see the matches first hand. That evening went on the "piss" with Cliff Thorburn, what a weekend.
Dennis was a big part of the "Resurgence Of The Irish", his win in 1985 alongside Barry McGuigan in Boxing at the same time and The Pogues were culturally Very Important. Shortly followed by Jack Charlton and The Eurovision years. A big change in the perception of the Irish people in the UK....may well have been the first steps to the end of the Troubles. (I might write a book about all that 😊)
Thank you Dennis Taylor. You made snooker accessible to all us 8 scoring numpties. I can't imagine how empty snooker would have been without you and Virgo xxx
I remember watching the final between Davis and Taylor back then. That tournament was the first time I'd watched any snooker and I was hooked. I've had a soft spot for Dennis ever since and watching this video is just an absolute pleasure.
Dennis reminds me so much of my grandad who got me into snooker. He was from Monaghan in Ireland. They even sound exactly the same 😂 love listening to him commentate
The legend Dennis, I was too young to watch the 1985 final live, was only 3 years old, I grew up late 80s onwards with snooker, was great to watch this, siuch a wonderful, lovely man, the world will be a much poorer place when he's no longer with us
Myself and I'm sure many others are loving these videos, whether it is Dennis or Barry Hearne, the nostalgia, the comradeship, the admiration for other greats or away from the table and off camera antics are thoroughly enjoyable. On to the next video to binge watch...
dennis taylor such a legend, and 7 times world champion stephen hendry such a legend too, your such a great player and still are you just gotta believe in yourself and you will find that star quality again
Legend. Remember that 85 final so vividly. I was 8 and it was first time mum and dad had let me stay up so late. We were all totally captivated. Denis and JV my favourite commentators

Couldn’t agree more either.
Dennis is a national treasure. Such a nice guy.
Never met him, but he does come across as a very nice bloke. Pleased Higgins didn't have him shot after all! 😀
National? He’s global treasure!
Wel claim Dennis as irish
Not British
@@crotta2011 A gent like Dennis Taylor is not interested in such sectarian nonsense. Shameful comment.
He should stop telling them corny jokes
Been there every year since 1977 is impressive. One of the best commentators.

I never thought I could see a legend like Steven in such a raw state sharing his stories like a regular human like all of us. Absolutely brilliant.
Hendry shows such a humble and passionate interest in everyone he interviews. Incredible considering he was amongst the greatest players

That's what I was thinking.
Yep, when the first overhead shot of the table appeared I initially thought it was a clip from days gone by.
Best one yet. Could listen to Dennis Taylor and Stephen Hendry talk about snooker all day.
