Great in depth explanation mate! I always use a lens hood e.g. for my telephoto lens and my go to 35mm f/1.4 but not for macros as it would get in the way of the flash😑 cheers

How do I use a lenses hood and a no filter at the same time the lens hood is too small when I put the filter on because the filter gets slightly bigger at the end so it doesnt fit

I'm 83 and I always use a lens hood. Why? Because I'm clumsy and it protects my lens when I bang the lens against some inanimate object......

Now, that’s a great reason to use a lens hood! More often than not, I find the benefits of protecting the lens outweigh the benefits of reduced flares. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
