    I’m in the starter loc phase, abt to be 2 weeks in and I love your tips, many of them I follow through with as well. I love when the steam from a hot shower just hit my locs, idk abt others but I love that puffy look too. I spray my hair often as well.

      Great! and I like the puffy look too, I even like the look of my retwists more so around day 2 or 3 because I don’t like the super fresh look

      😂 That’s why people should be careful who they take advice from. Just because they are a hair stylist doesn’t mean they know natural hair or even locs but they will insist on treating ALL hair the same.

    That’s so true. I thought I could skip moisturing my locs, but one day I realized that they made that paper noise 😂 and every time I touched them little pieces of hair would just break. I ended up doing a hot oil treatment and I worked like a charm. Hair was so dang thirsty 😂

    What low manipulation styles would you recommend for exercising? I run everyday but I put it in a loose ponytail. Do you recommend not putting your hair in any style? Thanks and your locs are beautiful 😍

    • @NaturalCee
      @NaturalCee  3 года назад +6

      Thank you and I think the loose ponytail is ok, but switch it up so that the hair closest to the hair tie doesn’t get more stress than the rest of it. Sometimes I let mine loose and tied a scarf on the front (allowing my hair to be free but out my face). Maybe I’ll do a video on some styles I did while dancing/auditions. Good question!!!

    Ugh wish I had known about the frizz snipping. I got two sets of locs that had to be combined and been wondering should I cut one off or restart those two completely... also do you think it’s good to daily spray my hair with rose water. That’s what I’ve been using so I wasn’t sure. I’m trying to find low maintenance styles but putting my hair up no matter how
    Light gives me bad headaches for some reason.

    • @NaturalCee
      @NaturalCee  3 года назад +4

      I think it’s good to spray the rose water. If doing it daily works for your hair, keep a routine that works. As for the locs that you had to combine, did you already try going longer without a retwist & letting them grow out? Asking because the front of my hair (about 4-6 locs) are actually really small due to the heat damage I had when I started my locs. I made it worse by retwisting too much so what I did was not retwist those locs for a while. I would gently wrap any new growth around the locs and leave it. Now the locs are becoming fuller again and when they grow out, I will eventually cut the damaged ends off. Also when retwisting, retwist the hair upwards towards the roots. This helps with loc size and maintaining loc size. I have a video where I show it, but I can’t remember which one so I’ll have to check. But sometimes I see women retwist downwards and the roots become smaller or more stressed and over time become thinner. By twisting upwards, the hair keeps the loc size the same as it grows out.

    • @NaturalCee
      @NaturalCee  3 года назад +3

      Also I’m still figuring out the low maintenance styles, but I have a few that I will be doing a video on when I begin to upload again. I can relate to that comment because I can’t wear my hair in a bun for too long because it just feels like too much stress. Usually by midday I’m taking it out. It could also be because my hair is not really long yet it’s like 1-2 inches below my neck so putting my hair up is a little bit of a struggle.

    How many locs do you have ? & do you have fine hair ? Medium density ? low density ?

    • @NaturalCee
      @NaturalCee  2 года назад +1

      I have 71 locs and before locking my hair I had a 3C/4A texture. I believe my hair is normal/medium density, it’s not fine but it is extremely curly in the front (3C) than the back (3C mixed with 4A). If you go to my IG natural_cee the pics should give a better look of how my hair is.

      I’m so sorry I’m just now seeing this, it didn’t show up before. Are they dry & breaking?

    • @NaturalCee
      @NaturalCee  3 года назад +2

      Also how often do you retwist & do you palm roll? Asking because in my opinion palm rolling shrinks down the locs because the frizz is what creates the locs. If you retwist too often try extending your timeframe. When I first started my locs my hair was right above shoulder length. During my 1st year and a half I didn’t see too much growth because I forgot that it will shrink before it starts to retain length.

    • @kay3ree193

      @@NaturalCee my bad i jus read what I sent before , Ive been growing my hairrr out for 3 years not my locs I only started them this year in February so they are still at the beginner stage
      I was never aware that it doesn’t grow in length for a while when they are first dreaded
      This makes so much sense I was really just lost because I thought my hair wasn’t growing at all cuz of the blonde hair dye I was almost going to cut it all off and start again I appreciate this

    • @kay3ree193
      @kay3ree193 3 года назад +3

      @@NaturalCee so basically for your first year n a half u don’t get much growth when it comes to length but after that year n a half and when it got fully loccd is that when u had an increase in length ?

    • @NaturalCee
      @NaturalCee  3 года назад +2

      Glad you didn’t cut it! my hair was actually colored before I started mine. I didn’t use bleach though only a developer to lift it. But during the first stages of locing, your hair is gathering together to bud and form a loc so you will see shrinkage before growth. Once they start budding you may begin to see them hang but it’s a different experience for everyone. Look at my loc journey video and you can see at which point/month my hair began to drop and get length. Also be mindful of what you put in it and things you eat/drink. Hair, skin, and nails are connected and you can always tell what’s up with your body through those 3 things.

    How often do you retwist and do you only twist the roots?

    • @NaturalCee
      @NaturalCee  3 года назад +6

      I tried going up to 3 months before retwisting, but my hair started growing crazy since it’s curly and I realized I have to do it sooner to prevent my hair from not staying in the loc. Now it’s probably every month or if I see at least half an inch to an inch of new growth.
      Yes I only twist my roots. I do not palm roll and when I twist, I twist upwards to keep the root stronger and to maintain my loc size throughout.

      To get the length is it better to retwist or to interlock with crochet? I realized that the interlocking is stealing my length what do u think ?
