Where are you on your design journey??
I just graduated in September with a Design Degree but I was focusing on Interior Design but we learned Vector works works rhino and twin motion. It’s not accredited Uni so now Im like now what. I’m taking a autocad class but now im like what do I do now bc it wasn’t accredited. It’s been really hard to get jobs. Like no one wanted me bc of the autocad (I hate autocad ahah but vectorworks is not common in the U.S). Now what 😭😵💫.
Graduating this spring. Working in interior design sales for the time being to fulfill experience requirements for school. Hoping to apply to firms after graduating and land a 9-5. Going to build up my portfolio to land the jobs that I want.
THANK YOU! I needed this, now I know me being in my late 20's/almost 30, it's not too late! Also I LOVED the ending of the video, felt very genuine and made my heart full
Everything I say comes from the heart 🥰
It’s never too late. I’m beginning my ID studies at 53. Good luck on your journey!
❤

Awe thank you so much!! Hope everything goes well with you!😭
thank you for this video. i’m about 4 semesters in, into my interior design journey and can’t wait to become an interior designer. i relate with you that I’ve always considered myself a creative person and when I found out about ID, I just knew it was something for me. your video has been very helpful for me. congrats on your company 💕
thank you so much for your sweeet comment! :) That is awesome to hear you are well on your way to becoming an interior designer and I hope it all goes well for you!
I am a designer you are such an inspiration to the point that your videos inspired me to open my RUclips channel and it’s been so much fun because I get to share my passion with like minded people. I love your content and really enjoy your videos!!
no way, that's amazing!! you have great videos btw. Excited to see more of your content! :)
As a 27 years old guy who is currently studying for master's of interior design and feels a bit lost these days and feels not so good, confident, and ready (and also feels a bit old) to start working as an interior designer which has been always his passion in life and sacrificed a LOT for it, I'm really thankful for this video and the great tips. really needed to watch it and get motivated again... please keep these videos coming. waiting as the new subscriber! :)
that warms my heart to hear that! Honestly, 27 is still young so keep chugging along. You got this! Thank you so much for subscribing :)
Thank you for telling your story and tips! I'm at my 8 year mark as a pattern designer and right now looking how I can market my skills for custom fabric and wall paper pattern design. Thats how I found your channel, learning what designers are looking for and how your jobs work. I haven't started yet, still finding info to know if it makes sense to start this business. Again, Thanks!
I am always looking for cool new patterns and wallpaper! I just replied to your other comment and I hope it all goes well for you! :)
Thanks Sandra! All those are super great recommendations. After x years (too long time ago to say) I got my BA in something that I didn’t like. During pandemic I enrolled to get my interior design certificate and I am super happy that I did it! It is being very hard to find a job, even I had plenty of interviews, but I won’t give up! Love your channel!
Props to you for changing your career around into doing something you like!👏🙌 I am sure you will find something and love your positive attitude!💕
Hey Sandra. I want to be an interior designer one day and I have quite a few questions. If you do another q and a, please could you answer these questions: Can you work from home and if you can’t where do you go?
Can you get days off?
Is there too much work load and if so, how do you manage it?
I love your vids. Definitely subscribing
Will include these questions for a future q&a!
Hi! Can you make a video about electric, water etc instalations plans? Btw love you videos, thank you for sharing ✨🤎

There is a fee to pay but I like to keep it reasonable for students. All proceeds help me continue making content and supports my small business 😊
@@SandraJessicaChavezI also have some questions for you, Sandra. Do you have something similar for those of us who aren’t students anymore? More specifically, despite being an interior designer I’m also a full-time school counselor and my ID side business is there for any opportunities that come up, but haven’t had much luck due to many factors. Please advise as I’m interested in chatting with you. Thank you in advance! Saludos desde Los Angeles, -Aurora ❤❤❤
Hello Sandra, I need some advice 😅. I graduated in 2019 with an interior design degree. Since then I have been trying to look for a job in the design field. I’ve had no luck 🙁. I have applied to so many companies and like you have said rejection after rejection. I am trying not to lose faith but as the year goes by it gets hard. I always applied at furniture stores thinking I had a better chance but I was wrong 😅. I don’t know what to do ?
i'm so sorry to hear you haven't had any luck! feel free to email me your resume and I'll take a look there and see if i can give you any pointers :)
I'm in my senior year of high school and I really want to become an interior designer and I applied to 2 interior design schools near me and I got accepted to both so I am so happy. I'm just wondering, I really want to do residential interior design but do you think I should try commercial?
congrats on getting accepted!!!🎉🤗 I 100% would recommend for you to try it. I strongly believe getting experience from different areas makes you a well-rounded designer and valuable to the company. It especially trains your mind to think differently (in good ways!).
@@SandraJessicaChavez okay thank you so much. I was thinking about that too. Thank you again 💖
I'v started Course about interior design, but I haven't understood yet??
My country hasn't schools that learning this career, so sissy what should I learn this experience??
Hi, I wanna ask I have completed my degree in the commerce field but I'm interested in interior design, So there are tons of institutes near me offering interior design diploma's.
So what value do diplomas hold and their scope in pursuing ID as a career, According to you.
obtaining an interior design degree is VERY valuable in my book if you want to design large commercial spaces or even residential. Lot of design firms look and want to hire people who got some type of design school education.
Hey I’ve been wanting to me an interior designer since I was 11 and I’m now 18 and having a gap year because I’m scared of going down the path of interior designer. Lots of people have said to me there’s no work and I don’t know if I’ll enjoy it because I’ve had no experience in it. I do love art and love making my room look nice and did visual arts in senior so I love creativity. Was it hard to get jobs in the industry, and is it worth doing?
Honestly yes, to me it is worth it because I love what I do. There will always be people judging and they don't see interior design as a "real" career path. I say don't listen to them because I didn't haha. I didn't really have trouble getting into the industry but it all depends on your skill set, work experience, and schooling. So to sum it up, if you can't see yourself doing anything else but designing then I suggest you follow your dreams!
@@SandraJessicaChavez thank you so much for the advice it really helps. I’ll definitely try very hard to chase my dream !
how did you find clients that needed your expertise after starting your business?
Many of my clients in the very beginning were friends. They referred me to their friends and family and then slowly started getting more referrals. I was also getting clients through social media and by making connections with other professionals.
Can I work as a residential interior designer full-time remotely?
yea! If you work for yourself or a company that offers E-Design services that is absolutely possible. There are a bunch of sources online that allow you to design virtually.
