He also made my favorite argument as to why this was such a great cover. He talked about how there’s so many drummers out there acting all guarded and afraid to make a mistake, and yet here’s this girl out here just letting loose. And yeah, she’s absolutely killing it on the drums, but (as these guys observed early on in the video) she’s HAVING THE TIME OF HER LIFE DOING IT.
As an avid concert-goer, that translates almost more than anything else. Y’all can have all the special effects, lighting, and pyro in the world. And that’s all well and good. But the thing that usually makes me the most likely to let loose and have a great time as an audience member is if you (the performer) look like you’re doing the same.

If you look at her old videos t there is a video in 2019 where she says that she has been playing drums for 8 years and if you Google "Cosplay and Drums - Interviewing Junna" she states that she began at age 15... Junna was a child prodigy drummer and is now in her early twenties. Her "thing", other than being an absolute monster on the kit, is her showmanship and look. She's been on RUclips for like four years and only drops a few songs a year.

I'm 51, started drumming when I was 13 mainly because of Dave Lombardo's double bass. Not many metal drummers play with a single bass pedal, Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain is an exception and he sounds like he's playing with two pedals on a lot of songs. I gave her video a Thumbs Up, no jealousy here, just very impressed.
I can't play blast beats anymore, 2 minutes in and I'd have to stop and put on an oxygen mask.

@@THENOBODIESREACTS Yeah, I slowed down on metal reaction channels for awhile, every channel is copy/paste doing all the same songs so I mostly just watch reactions to songs I've never seen a reaction to yet, those are few and far between. I've seen drummers reactions to this video a few times, suggested Aquiles Priester's cover but no takers. Seriously, as a drummer you need to watch him play, it'll blow your mind.

there is a nice comment from Jeff Beck after seeing Hendrix live in a club in London for the first time. He worried that it would be better for him to apply for a job at the post office in the future. Something like that must be happening to some drummers when they see Junna.

This is what "in the zone" means. Also, she's in her 20's, so far from a child, but regardless of her age the talent is there.
I've played this song a few dozen times, and that ending is very high level... she nailed it as did the rest of the song!! Any proffesional drummer have fear, and keep their heads down. She so so young, energetic, and confident. There not a drop of fear in that young girl. She's so play letting it rip by muscle memory. She has the stamina, so no issues there either. She also not doing that off the cuff either. She's practiced that many times as well. Hats she's doing isn't all that difficult, just keep it tight!

JUNNA is somewhere around 25, but she is totally amazing! If I started a band today she would be my first choice as drummer (and when I posted that on my Twitter, she liked it)! Another young female Japanese drummer of note is Yoyoka (11)! She comes from a musical family (her mom, Rie Soma, plays guitar, bass, and sings)
She's fun to watch. She smiles and sings the song as well, there's no tension and serious feeling. She has perfect timing with all the different changes in the song. She kicks butt as a musician and we all hope and pray to see more from her in the future.

6:05..And it happens so fast you can't even see it,dad is so right,I think the fact that where are so many "Asian" drummers coming through is because they are so much more strict and maybe also more dedicated in their learning and practice.I've seen 2 or 3 other young Asian females come through who are also absolutely phenomenally fast with both hands and feet,Senri Kawaguchi,Kanade Sato,Kalonica Nix just to name a few that I know.

Okay I have been a Drummer for a long time and followed some of the Greats, Neal, Buddy, Keith, and I have to say that this girl is beyond Talented. If I didn't know better All the great drummers in the world like I mentioned Neil Peart, Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, Gene Krupa, I think they all had a hand in creating such a Great Talent

Male professional drummers with years of experience, have been left as a puddle on the floor when confronted with playing this. Look at those twin tails fly!!! Junna was also in a band called Trident for a brief while. Japan is the current epicenter for hard rock and metal ... mostly all girl bands. Along with Trident, ... BAND MAID, Bridear, Mary's Blood, Lovebites, and of course Babymetal along with a slew of others. Japan is rocks' new address.

I wouldn't give her parents too much credit. It was either get her interested in drums or put up with having their house destroyed on a weekly basis with a young daughter with THAT much energy to spare. She was a member of the rock trio "Girls Rock Band Kakumei" (started in 2013 when the bassist and guitarist were in the same high school music club) but left in 2020. The band got a new drummer, Nagisa, and re-named themselves TRiDENT. So yes, Junna is older than she looks. If you want to see a 11 year Japanese terror on the drums check out Yoyoka. I'm 69 years old and I started playing the drums 6. I could play that song, but I would need paddles, an oxygen tent, iv nutrients .Oh medics also. She is sooooooo goood damnit!

as mentioned below. Junna is early 20's. She was in a band called "Girls Rock Band Kakumei" (check out the song "VOLTAGE") ... She left that band not too long ago. The group (of 3) found a new drummer and rebranded as Trident. And amazingly enough the drummer they found (Nagisa) is a Junna clone. Also if i recall correctly, Junna did not start playing the drums until she was 15.

She is also contracted by Pearl drums(Headquartered in Japan) and I am sure other endorsements. She played with Trident, a pretty good J-rock/metal band.

Imagine dragon force doing a show in a nearby city where this girl lives and requests SHE play through the fire and flames!! The drummer from dragon force already said this was his favorite cover and just think 50 years down the road and dragon force is in history and she looks back as she tells her grandchild she played the drums on stage for a dragon force song at 10 years old! I honestly think she can handle it! But what do I know I can barely pour a drink left handed at age 31 😂

after watching gee ana... somethin' or other, the original drummer, play "through the fire", what is impressive with junna's performance, and i think why HE reacted as he did, is that while he is an exceptional drummer, himself, to play drums at that speed means, for many drummers, sacrificing a little bit of "the show"... playing close to the kit... whereas junna simple batters the skins without mercy but precisely. at least that's how i compare junna's performance to 3 different performances of gee (and watching the official vid explains why junna takes a drink break... i've watched several "reaction vid" makers wrinkle their foreheads when they see it). her performance is a blur of action and satisfaction. i'm glad she doesn't play the piano, as my life would have no further meaning ;)
