Did you take video production classes to learn about lighting, editing, etc.? Is that partly why the videography is so gripping? Just curious but regardless of the answer, your perspective and presentation are insightful, bursting with beautiful colors and inspiring. It really is a treat every time you share these gems with us.

Hahaha I'm so flattered. Everything you see is self taught.
Unfortunately for me, I haven't been able to afford take classes yet. Although I'd love to. Hoping to be able to do so, in order to further improve my videography skills. But I'm happy to know it looks like I've taken some classes.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I appreciate you watching and commenting.

what a nice surprise.......thank you. interesting the thoughts vs Vilca. The Mercados in Cuenca seem fabulous and holy smokes...the
RESTAURANTS. So glad you are getting enough blasts of nature .... **This the rainy season and the farmers truly appreciate it. The RIVERS look fabulous. Two months ago or so rivers were scary. ROCKS! .. Few yrs ago Int Living gal mentioned shuttle to Vilca from Cuenca, $20/ea. how do you spell it: Ishcaluma.... Shuttle: Be interesting to know if still runs. (a visit?) Food is insanely expensive, now, US. Every sstore trip::: $200-$300.. (x4...) Your dinner looked fabulous. Variety in Vegetables! 🙂 Put word out if need raincoat. Everywhere, now. Cheap. Crushable (small/stuff sac) You are so talented. Truly appreciate your work.

And yes, there's still a shuttle that runs from Izhcayluma in Vilcabamba to Cuenca. Alternatively, one can also take a taxi from Vilcabamba to Loja, and then take a shuttle from Loja to Cuenca. That's what we used to do.

I got my poncho from Loja, but the store in the video had different varieties and more colorful ones. However, i think the prices are about the same

Nice video. I am also an American who moved here because I could no longer afford America. My wife is an Ecuadorian and I have traveled here 5 times since 2001. I had culture shock the first few times, but now I am here until I die. Which God permit will be a long time, longer than it would have been in the U.S.A. Welcome to Ecuador! And Thank You for sharing your optimistic vision of this Beautiful country and it¨s kind people!

Well, the major thing I dislike about living in Cuenca is the weather(but not all the time). I just don't like it when it gets cold, rainy, gloomy and cloudy.

Hey Susan, we feel pretty safe here in Cuenca. I've met some expats who moved from the coast to Cuenca, and they love it because of how safe and free they feel here. I'm sure you'll be able to find somewhere nice on airbnb that fits your budget.
