Because these engines are sensitive to particles 1/100th the size of a human hair. Removing the filter and esp banging it out will certainly contaminate the clean side of the filter. This has been proven with engine oil analysis noting silicone content (sand) and was taught to me directly from the book in diesel school.
@@AncapistanVan Thanks for the reply. I listen to your advice and changed the filter. I want to keep this van in good working order, it's our camper and only done 35K from new 2004. Picked it up last year and converted it from a bus to a camper. Runs like new. Thanks for the vid and advise
@@archiemcintosh9918 Excellent, if you see any dust on the clean side of the filter, be very careful to make sure and re check your filter is seated fully. It's an easy mistake for even trained techs to do and can completely ruin an engine.
Thank you! I’m trying to save money on repairs- and this video helped me avoid a trip to the mechanic.
W00t. Glad to hear. Lots more t1n sprinter vids on my channel btw
Hey your videos are very helpful thank you! Please keep making them!
Thanks, glad you like them :) I'm trying to get to 1000 subscribers so I can get paid. More videos will come out more often then, I figure
Appreciate the quality content!
Hey, glad you enjoyed it.
Does the O2 sensor plug back in minus side up or plus side up?
@@chickennuggets2672 there's no O2 sensor on the airbox. But those connectors are only going to fit in one way. Look for the locating tab
Hi just curious, why never remove and bang-out?

So this filters the air for the engine, not the cabin, am I correct?
