The Fiat 500 maintains the old car’s fashion accessory image, but it’s also a small EV with usable range, the latest charging tech and crucially it’s offered at a very tempting price. It's available as both a hard top and cabriolet (which we've driven here). So is it worth grabbing this stylish city slicker over rivals like the Honda e and the Mini Electric?

I like this new presenter. He's quite funny & charming in a very subtle way.
Very helpful review. Good presenter - he didn't see the need to impose a strong personality, and had no irritating characteristics.
Leather made from vegans is a nice touch
Lol I see what you did there
I enjoyed watching the video review. Looks even smarter now
To my eyes this is a great evolution of the 500. Can see it being successful as a town car type second, or even third car, for households with plenty of disposable income in well to do areas. Seems to be a niche that electric cars do well in, particularly one so style led.
🤗
Wow, Fiat 500 has grown in size ...
Jokes aside, great review
What in the world is keeping these manufacturers from shipping their cars to the U.S.? I would love to purchase any one of them.
???
I cant figure that out either
Thanks a lot !
Some basic slide with the numbers - to compare in table - will really help! It's not easy to understand so many numbers just listening.
Beautiful!
Did I miss it or wasn’t the range mentioned for either model?
Not sure the point of the premier when there are other UK based YT channels with reviews of the same car already published🤷🏻♂️...
Good review, like the new reviewer
The price is insane- understand it's a hugely desirable, premium type car but still
About the 3+1 version of the 500 Electric, in an article I read about it mentioning that it could possibly be sold in the UK, it mentioned that they had ruled out development of a version of the 3+1 with the extra door on the left hand side of the car - which is the pavement side in right-hand-drive markets - meaning that if it IS sold in the UK, the extra door would open into the middle of the road.
So why isn’t it going to be moved over to the left side of the car if Fiat do decide to sell the 3+1 in right-hand-drive markets?
Costs obviously. A mirrored console is inexpensive and to move controls is relatively inexpensive. To replace structure and body panels is another thing.
@@neutronalchemist3241 This is also why the extra door on the 2007-14 R55 Clubman wasn’t moved over to the left side of the car for right-hand drive markets.
Why would it matter tho it would be no different to opening the left hand on a 5 door 🤔
When you throw numbers around. Please have the key numbers appear visually. Much easier to comprehend.
I wish mini did an electric car that had that metal look to it with those alloys
They should bring this to the US. I want the Cabrio!!
t h e y must have heard your wish
The body colour stripe in the interior is straight off the original 1957 model... as are the rear seats.
Love the car
Looking forward to the Road Test coming soon In the Magazine
I really want one. Not sure if I will get laughed at though being. 6ft 2 bloke.
Make sure you take it for a test drive. You need to be comfortable while driving.
Is it worth it?
Smart also has a Drop top EV
Smart actually had it first
500E is better to drive than an Abarth because it *doesn't* have an exhaust note? First time I've heard that
500, electrical- Really good
Waiting till 2024 for them to bring this to USA.
wish they sold this in the US 😭
The way the car is bigger than the fella
Hey, it pizza Napoletana not "Neapolitan"... carry on
Apologies and thanks for the correction. From an ignorant English person - Alex
He is speaking in English, no in Italian; do you get the difference? His answer has been very "polite", but you, as an Italian, cannot understand its real meaning. The English people are classy and diplomatic, whereas you just showed being 100% Italian
no more abarth model?
I’m a big fan of Abarth but don’t forget Abarth isn’t a 500 model but actually a totally rebuilt and modified version.
4 months on our LaPrima plagued with issues...Front brakes grab when stopping, sounds like mice in callipers, warning lights for tyre pressure on within 10 minutes of collection, audio not working correctly signage on within 2 weeks. Pedestrian warning sound barely audible and only sounds at 15 mph, once per journey, sos light on twice, this indicates the eu call failure, many times one must press start twice before it will "start".
It has now been 4 months since Fiat were informed about the brakes and still investigating....
Avoid this model it's not a good buy. We going to trade it in soon and buy a proper EV that has customer service focus. Check online reviews of Fiat and it's evident they don't care. One cannot review a car without using it for more than what's really a test drive over a weekend.
You can’t ignore that back seats, if they’re like this, then make it a two seater.
Why? In the 500 there is space for children, or occasional passengers. In a two seater there isn't.
That's called a 2+2 which this is.
I am sorry no disrespect but your more 5ft 4 than 5ft 7 unless the fiat has grown by 30%
No disrespect taken! (mainly because I am 5ft 7). If you can believe my tape measure is reliable, the electric 500 is 61mm longer, 56mm wider and 29mm taller than the existing car
Umm no that looks about right. The 2007 modern Fiat 500 massively got bigger than the vintage. This new one is tiny bit bigger than 2007. That is exactly how a 5ft 7 person should fit, still uncomfortable cramped but possible on short rides.
I’ve seen several reviews of this car and this has to be the worst. On what planet is the miles per kw hour more important than the actual range?!!! Utter garbage. So according to Auto Express the Mini is better because it has less range than the 500???!!!
Hi Andrew, thanks for watching. I'd go for the planet where electricity isn't free 🙃
Of course range is important too, but just in the same way that fuel efficiency matters for a combustion car, it shouldn't be ignored in an EV either. In fairness, each of those small cars seem to be very closely matched on paper, but regardless, poorer efficiency means bigger running costs - Alex
@@Autoexpress nonsense!
Eww no, that's just reading off the spec sheet. Not a proper review. If you want range information there is EV-Database for that which requires no human editorial. There are soo many BEVs now with different character far more important to review how they work, ergonomics, handling & quality characteristics.
He looks like a little person next to it
Please don't talk about the past of the car it's anoying and time consuming
