Update was given Gabapentin for the nerve pain and told to take it before bed. I took it at 8pm and the pain was worse than before. Not sure if the medicine caused that or not? I ended up having to take a Oxycodone with Tylenol around 3:30am and was able to feel the sciatic pain ease up slightly but enough to sleep 4 hours. I spoke to my surgeon this morning and he called in a Medrol Dose Pack or prednisone Steroid pack but I am concerned it will mess with my fusion fusing or getting enough bone so I might just see if the pain in my leg improves on it's own or might have to take the oxy again tonight. If you have followed any of my videos you know I do not like taking anything and my pain tolerance is very high but I was honestly at a level 9 last night and could not even stand or walk for long. Today around 9a it subsided a little and I am sitting in a recliner on a heating pad. Just hoping it can heal and go away. All surgery pain incision etc is non existent! I almost did a video this morning at 3am but decided not too..

Hi Brad! I'm so sorry you're going through this again. How big is the herniation on the L5-S1 level? Is it inpinching a nerve? My last surgeon is excellent and I have developed a good relationship with him. Do you want me to ask if he would fuse that lvl as well? I'm seeing him at around 6-7th of May.

@@sofia_chem sure or ask if they could clean it up some how. I took a medrol pack yesterday first night I’ve slept good in a week but having leg pain again today also assume I’ll have to wait to do anything with the lower disc but if I’m in this type of pain I’m worried I’ll get hooked on pain meds! 4 days of misery! Staying positive this medrol knocks it out! Thanks for the reply

Also I've been using Gabapentine since January, so since before the third surgery (I had commented my story a bit on a previous video). It did almost nothing while the nerve was pressured. Now that it's free and healing and it's residual sciatic pain, it helps quite a bit. Didn't make me worse in either
      case though, regarding to pain.

@@sofia_chem thanks GABA seemed to make my pain worse and I believe a disc fragment at L5/S1 is pressing in the nerve. I’m wondering how long before they can address that disc since I’m 15 days out of the revision at L4/L5. Post a link to your video love to see it.

@@KBradAdams Do you know how big the herniation is at that level? Is it impinching the nerve? Do you have any diagnosis for that level that I can tell him? I know people that had a second surgery 20 days after their first cause of their butcher surgeon, so I'm sure you can address it soon, if that's the problem. My last surgeon has saved many people, and has a reputation of addressing failed back surgeries, like mine and way worse. He has people coming from abroad for him.

Oh No!!! I am really sorry you still have pain. I don't think these docs know what they are doing. That's why I delay going for surgery. I got 4 or 5 different diagnosis from them, who should I trust? Noone. You know your body much better than them. Every single time I saw a doctor here in Germany, they are more interested to type what i say on their computer instead listening to me , have physical examinations. I don't agree with that. If they listen what patients say , there won't be lots of misdiagnosis. I Always think what if i go for the surgery but after a while i still have the same pain. I don't trust them. I have seen many drs during last 6 years. I don't know howuch time i have spent reading, searching about different doctors and different study. I haven't been working for 6 years, cannot do stuff like gardening, it's difficult but it scares me go for the surgery. 2 years ago had a partial coccyx removal, i have more pain now than before. They are just interested in money. I saw my surgeon last month and he told me very easily: that's very easy for me ckme back for the second surgery so i can remove another part of your coccyx. ( Why did he not remove it 2 years ago) . The recovery time of this surgery is minimum one year. It's a horrible surgery but he told that's so easy for him. That's was so annoying. I am not going to him that's for sure but all they want is money. Ok at least 90%. It's very difficult to find good doctors anyway. Sorry wrote too much but it's so annoying to see someone goes for second one and still have pain. I really pray for you that the pain is temporary and it will ho away for good. Stay strong and work on your mind. That helps me. All the best 🙏

No problem on writing too much! I appreciate all the input you have. I just got back home from seeing the Physicians Assistant where my surgeon is. She said oh it's normal for people to get nerve pain here and there. I told her the sciatic pain I experienced last night was way worse than even the day or next day after surgery pain. I told her I have not been using any medication and she couldn't believe that but didn't seem too concerned. I honestly wish I had just had them fuse L4/L5 again and also fuse L5/S1, that is what I think the issue is.. but if I can get away without another surgery I am going to try. Hopefully you can find some others with the same issues as you that found relief and do exactly what they did. I wish they had better diagnostic tests that could pinpoint the real cause of pain instead of guessing and half doing a surgery so you have to come back. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.

@@KBradAdams hopefully she is right and as she said it's normal to have this pain. Just think positive , that's all we can do.

@@maysmith7994 I agree! She wrote me a prescription for Gabapentin and when I picked that up, I went ahead and got the Oxycodone with tylenol they had given me when I left the hospital. Last night I tried not to use either and was up most of the night and in pain. Here it's around 7am now and I am still hurting in my lower back hip, thigh knee, calf and ankle. Tonight I am going to take the Gabapentin and see if it helps. I can't go through many more nights like this. I am having flash backs of 2018 when this all first started and I am miserable. I asked her about a Medrol pack possibly and she said if this doesn't work she should call one in but worried it might slow down the bone growth of the fusion but I am running out of options at night. Thanks again for listening and I will probably reply tomorrow with updates.

@@KBradAdams is it the same surgeon who did the first one?
I completely understand you. My life changed since 2017 as well. All I can talk about is this pain. I think my family members are fed up now. We go for surgery with lots of hope so it's difficult it doesn't work. As I said my surgery didn't work and I am going down to South of Germany in Jun, 7 hours drive to someone else. I have an appointment with another doctor again 600 km away for disk problem but one thing I have learnt from previous surgery is I have to go to the best Dr now. Of course there is no guarantee with anyone but at least I do my best. I rushed with the last surgeon. I was tired of pain. Who is your surgeon? I am not sure if you are a member of the Facebook group. It's an ADR group but there are lots of people with back problems from all over the world. I hope you get better soon. Stay positive and pray. Try melatonin for sleep it might help a bit.

@@maysmith7994 Yeah the surgeon I used a couple of weeks ago to do the revision was the original surgeon who did my discectomy in 2017 and he did the fusion in 2020. I like him because he does not want to over do it but I wish I had just gotten both discs fused or done this time. I saw a guy in Florida and California who do a procedure where they can clean up the disc without having to cut bone etc. They go in from the side. I think they call it Biportal Endoscopic assisted foraminotomy and removal of the disc. If my disc pain continues I am going to reach back out to one of these guys and pay out of pocket to have it done and hopefully it will fix all my sciatic and leg pain I am experiencing now. The doctor in California says you can always do more if it doesn't work. I spoke to him a few years ago, he actually did the neck of one of the doctors on the TV show the doctors here in the US. That is my backup plan but just hoping this pain goes away soon. Today my plan is to walk until my leg pain stops if it doesn't then I guess I will have to take the meds tonight and hope for the best. On a side note I think I am a member of the ADR group. I asked my surgeon and a few other surgeons about ADR and he said from what he has seen it is not a good option for lumbar yet.
