Thank you so much for this video! I could not figure out why my unit was not working until I watched your video. I was simply matching the color of the wires between the electronic braking unit and the OEM wiring harness. After watching your video, I realized that I am a dumba** and should have read which wires did what for the braking unit and the OEM wiring harness. Now everything is working properly. Thanks again!.

Hey man! Thx for the video. I dont think I would’ve ever found that connector without your tip. Totally makes sense why they put the dummy plug on though to prevent accidental shorts. Nice truck. I think I put the exact same step-boards on mine. I have a 2020 Trailboss & Airstream Caravel this is going in.

Thanks for posting this it was a big help! I was originally looking to see if I could purchase the factory brake controller and install it. But I saw another guy who tried it and he said he was unable to get it programmed so that it would show up in the driver information center. I ended up buying a Red Arc Tow Pro Elite. I was going to purchase a Tekonsha harness to plug from the controller harness into that connector under the dash that has the dummy plug in it.
After watching this I went out to my 2021 Silverado and opened the glove box. The harness you mentioned was sitting there under the manual. I'm really handy and tackle all of my home repairs and construction projects. But working on a vehicle wiring made a nervous. The section in your video on matching up the different color wires on the 2 harnesses was a great heads up on making sure everything was correct. I installed and wired it today. Thanks again.

I have a 2021 Silverado with 800 miles on it. I pulled my camper down to get the hitch adjusted and a cap on the back. I knew that there is a "Tow/Haul Mode" knob/switch on the upper left of the dash, and there was a 7-pin connector for the trailer connection. Dumb old me, I figured the computer figured the trailer weight and applied the trailer brakes appropriately since it's all computerized. But NO. There was NO trailer brakes working, even though one of the seven pins is labeled trailer brakes. I wrote a nasty email to my salesman about it. They should NEVER make a truck with a 7-pin connection that doesn't work the trailer brakes! That's very dangerous! I may end up doing what you did. As a matter of fact, I'm going to walk out to the truck now and see if the wiring harness was included. If not, that will be another nasty email to my salesman. You made it seem very simple. Thanks for posting your video. Greg in TN :)

good point, maybe class action suit against GM for providing something that assumed worked from factory ? If assumed had a connector for trariler and indicated the pin for brakes then one could assume was working ? tow and brakes not work and crash, lawsuit.
