    Great video! I really think Amex needs to update and upgrade the Everyday & Everyday Preferred cards. Since they earn points they would be a great addition to any of the other cards in this video to earn reward points, or for someone looking to earn points without having those crazy annual fees. I'm hoping they get a refresh in 2023 because those two cards are terrible compared to all the other cards. They are due for an upgrade soon.

      They need to update those two cards in both appearance and some points multipliers. The regular EveryDay is a safe haven for your points. For me it is at no annual fee for when I get tired of paying the Green card annual fee and don't get a retention offer, the Green card will then be on the chopping block.

      They need to put those cards as an official downgrade path from the Green. I have the regular EveryDay and would lose the credit history of the Green once I close it since there is no downgrade official downgrade from Green. The only good thing is that since its postive history, it would stay on my report for 10 years until dropping off.

    I had the Platinum and Gold setup for 2yrs but I recently drop the Gold card for the Green.
    I spend 9 months a year outside of the USA and I value transit/travel over US groceries. I use the Platinum card to get me abroad and hotels then the Green card for food and transit.

    I have all 3 of the regular personal charge cards plus the Charles Schwab Platinum. I use the Platinum cards just to pay my cellphone bill because of the insurance, to book travel and for all the credits and benefits.
    The Gold card is my most used card
    the Green card is used for the 3x pts on Uber, Lyft, parking, tolls, etc. And for those times that I can save money by booking travel from a 3rd party site which is actually rare so I'm thinking about cancelling it.
    I have the Navy Fed More Rewards Card that has very similar multipliers to the Green card but doesn't give any points for travel but has no annual fee

    I changed my mind. I upgraded to the Gold even though I'm in pop up jail with Amex on August 11, 2023, my offer is 15,000 points for $1000 spend in 6 months and my annual fee will be prorated for at least my last 7 months will be around $145.83 from my former Green card. That spending requirement is super simple. The Green card credits are harder to use. I will miss the 3x on cruises. If I use the 2 credits, that $10 effective annual fee is a STEAL! I used my first $10 Uber credit on Uber Eats yesterday and set it for pickup. Next time, I work, I will use the other $10 one already set for GrubHub. The Green card credits are garbage sadly. I will miss the 3x on cruises on Green.

    A fun video, thanks.
    I think the find hotels and resorts program tends to be underrated with the American Express platinum card. The first time you use it in a year, you get $200 back on your hotel room, early, check-in, late, check out, a room, upgrade, free breakfast for two, and a $100+!experience credit. Many hotels give you a few more benefits on top of that. If you are just doing a one or two night stay, it is an incredible deal. FHR also often offers fourth or fifth night free deals as well, which is effectively 20 to 25% off on your stay. These are expensive hotels, usually, but if you enjoy staying at an upper tier hotel now and then it is very worth it.
    The gold card and platinum card also both offer their hotel collection, kind of one step down from FHR, which still gives you similar benefits at mid range hotels.
    The gold status at Marriott and Hilton are also worth a lot more than people usually think. They can easily save you $50-$100 per day. Or, more correctly, they get you more Marriott and Hilton points, and a bunch of small extra benefits that make the stays nicer.
    There are, of course, a bunch of other really good cards in the Amex collection that are worth exploring if you decide you like the company. Chase is probably a better set up dollar per dollar, but Amex really brings the perks.

      Definitely agree that the FHR is often overlooked. I think a lot of the time the properties are overpriced even with the benefits, but when they go on sale it can be an amazing offer!

      FHR is my favorite perk of the Platinum card. Until I cancel my regular Platinum, I have 2 Platinum cards with the Charles Schwab and Regular one so I get those FHR benefits twice per year

    Would the gold be a good card if you only fly maybe once or twice a year (maybe) but you enjoy cooking or eating out?

    • @APennyPinchersGuide
      @APennyPinchersGuide  Год назад

      It could be, but you would have to spend a whole lot on food to make the extra point per dollar spent win out over the Green card

  • @Th33Vultur3

    I have the Green card for 3x dining and 1x more on dining isn't worth it for another $100 more in an annual fee at $250 for the Gold at 4x. I have the regular EveryDay card for Groceries at 2x upto $6000 a calendar year for places like Publix and Winn Dixie here in Florida and the Blue Business Plus at 2x upto $50,000 a calendar year for places like Walmart Supercenters, Target and Sam's Club or any other place that's 1x normally, 2x is better than that or nothing at all on the BBP.

      Good selection of cards.... I also have those cards but I still get value out of having the Gold card because I don't really use my Green card for dining, I use it more for travel related things like Uber, Lyft, parking, tolls etc. I just upgraded the Everyday to the Everyday Preferred so maybe I'll actually use it. The Everyday was my first Amex. And although I have 3 business cards, I put most of my Business Spend on the BBP....

      @Th33Vultur3 Год назад +1

      @@SledgeIncTeam I use the Green for dining. I would get the gold, but like I said, I shop mostly at Walmart supercenters, so I'm better off using the BBP for Walmart supercenters.

    • @SledgeIncTeam

      @@Th33Vultur3 You're making the right decision. I'm thinking about getting the Andrews Credit Union Titanium card because it gives 3X pts at Walmart. For Target, I use the Target debit card for 5% off

    • @Th33Vultur3
      @Th33Vultur3 Год назад

      @@SledgeIncTeam Like I said, I don't shop enough at supermarkets and Walmart Neighborhood Market and mostly at Walmart Supercenters and or other places that are coded as OTHER for food at 1x and I'm better off with a no annual fee option like the Blue Business Plus and on cash back the Blue Business Cash and for OTHER outside purchases and the rare case that I shop at a supermarket, I use the Capital One Savor One, Citi Double Cash or even the Custom Cash at 5% upto $500 a month after those three, I have plenty of 2% options like the Citi Double Cash, both the Blue Business Plus, Blue Business Cash at 2x in points or 2% back in cash back. I have plenty of no annual fee options. Plus, going from Green to Gold, I would lose the travel category like cruises and have gone on two in the past year and a half and the 1x more on dining is not worth giving Amex $100 more in annual fees going from Green to Gold from 3x on Green to 4x on Gold and I won't use the credits.

    Could these be used as a trifecta? I know it’s expensive but like people say you get more for your money if you use the built in benefits right?

    • @APennyPinchersGuide
      @APennyPinchersGuide  Год назад

      I wouldn’t just because many areas of the Green card are already covered by the Gold and Platinum. The AMEX trifecta I normally hear is the Platinum/Gold/Business Plus card
