@@Adiscretefirm that's the thing. You can't be sure so if you're an amex setup you have to have a visa backup. I'm my case I've had issues with amex even in Key west. It might have been just the few shops but after issue in two different places I didn't even try anymore.
💎 I like the Amex Green categories but I just can't easily justify the annual fee. Also the CSP is a crucial part of my Chase trifecta to transfer out my points.
If you drop $20000 into an Amex high yield savings account right now, the interest paid out will cover the annual fee (assuming interest rates don't change for 12 months). How's that for justification?
💎The recent elevated bonus on the Amex Green is really pushing a lot more attention to the card! Honestly hasn't been a card on my radar, but definitely is now! That said, I'd still have to say the CSP here given the flexibility, and general "friendliness" of a card!
I've been using a rental car for the past two weeks charging to my CSP. Got side swiped by another car trying to fit into a parking spot next to mine. Filing a claim was easy So i guess this event alone makes up for the annual fee of $95.
💎 I went with the CSP. Clear isn't available at my local airport. I'm combining points between my Chase cards. It works for me. Like you said, you need to check your individual spend versus the multipliers.
💎 Team Chase Sapphire Preferred all day over here!! Mostly just for the power it has in the Chase ecosystem. The Green card is a better dedicated travel card though as it comes to multipliers alone. Solid breakdown Sebby!
I would say CSP. Keep in mind that travel protection and travel insurance will still be effective with a one way ticket and/or mile redemption where as Green AMEX will not if not a round trip.
Got the CSP but think that the Green it’s a better card. The Green has better multipliers and you can find ways to get almost the cost of 2 clear memberships with the credit and you can get a visit or 2 to an airport lounge. Makes sense to get the CSP 1st but the Green wins.
Just because of Hyatt, the primary cdw, and other insurances, there is no debate. The CSP wins every day of the year. I dropped Amex and cashed out to Schwab because of the crazy coupon book credits.
💎 💚 I have both! Just as sebby said, i got the CSP first to use with my freedom card & for the primary CDW. We rent cars often when traveling so that is a must for us. I also recently picked up the Green, mainly for the elevated sub, but will also use it to supplement my gold card for travel. I plan to use clear.
💎 I personally have the CSP card but i believe the Amex green is a no brainer to get in the Amex door. It packs so much punch and if you use clear right you can even have it pay you more by adding people to your account and charging them Half a regular clear price 😉
💚 I recently got the Amex Green to add to the Gold + Platinum already in my wallet. Not sure if it is a keeper card because the credits are fairly useless to me, but the 3x MR on travel is pretty sweet! I’ve heard that a good use for the LoungeBuddy credit is some airport hotels in the Middle East, seems like they can count as lounges. That is what I’m planning to use my credit for this year, but for the years after I’m not so sure.
💙 as a rider on Ink train still, the CSP seems to be a very practical choice to transfer UR points. I find it hard to justify the annual fee for the Green for essentially some increased multipliers.
💎 I like the travel transfer partners, the insurance protection and the elevated SUB’s. But mainly using this as a 3x dining card because the other multipliers are just ok.
💚 Great comparison Sebby! I agree that the Green is a workhorse and can make sense if you have a lot of spend in that broad travel/transit category. I got it for the SUB and will probably hang onto it for upgrade offers to other charge cards I've already received SUBs on.
CLEAR really saved my life today. Both general and Precheck were over 2hr wait at CVG this AM. I signed up for CLEAR at the airport and was through in less than an hour.
💚 I think the green AmEx is so much better for me. It actually has things I need. At first I was going to go for the gold but it really doesn't have what I want. I don't use door dash or online grocery shopping or anything like that. I am still interested in the CSP and maybe I'll be able to get it someday.
💎 I just got my CSP in April and just missed the big signing bonus by one week. But I do have the Chase Trifecta now and planning on getting the Quadfecta next year and upgrade the CSP to the CSR.
I have both...got 80k sub on the csp and 60k on the green. When it comes to actual travel, my go-to is the green with csp as my backup. But the gamechanger is rakuten. I tend to pay for a lot of my smaller, non redemption trips and excursions on expedia whenever rakuten offers 10%...combined with the green, this is 13x and I have used this strategy to rack up a ton of points.
Spent 3.5 hours on layover in Newark yesterday...no lounge access. It was terrible especially after spending time in lounges on last 2 trips. To me, the worst lounge is still better than the craziness of the general areas.
I just picked up the CSP because of you mentioning the 80k bonus was coming to an end last month. Another big factor was the Primary CDW. But being primarily an AMEX user I am debating getting the Green for the bonus and to add to my AMEX collection, but I am having a hard time rationalizing the AF.
💚 Green card all day. Very underrated. One benefit I never see mentioned (probably because it’s niche 😂) is the Personal Card Annual Credit if you have a Amex Corporate Card. Basically cuts the Green’s fee in half to $75, which is a steal for everything you’re getting. Green + Gold is a killer combo for sure 🔥
💚 Just got the GC with the 60K point offer, I think it's important to mention that AirBnb purchases also count as 3X. Also, that plant on top of the luggage is an accident waiting to happen!
I loved the Green Card. It was awesome for parking and Uber and Train rides in Europe. We didn't use the credits at all though, bc either there wasn't a lounge or we just used the Delta lounge with the Business Platinum. I wasn't about to spend extra on Clear just because- at the time it was only a $100 credit. I would have upgraded to the Gold except I've never had the Gold so I wasn't about to give up that welcome bonus. So I sadly had to cancel. If I can reasonably see us using CLEAR in the future, I see no reason why not to have it
Please do an updated video that specifically goes over best cards to use for car rentals! I may have missed it, but the ones I found are from many years ago.
I just got the green in time for our latest trip and honestly I will select it over CSP every time single time. We got this specifically for travel that is not luxury, so road trips, hiking trips and transit. We will be combining this with the Platinum and use the green for the multipliers. 💚
All the Green Card needs to crush the market is to replace the Dining category with Gas/EV, covering multipliers across all travel & transportation methods. This makes it a more appealing addition to the typical Blue-Gold-Platinum setup. As a bonus, I'd say sprinkle in a little Global Entry credit every 4-5 years, and it suddenly becomes a lot more of a viable option for those who can't justify the Platinum - offering Clear, Global Entry & limited lounge visits for $150. Until then, I'll cling to my CSP.
💎 I recently picked up the CSP, but I missed out on the elevated bonus by a few days, lol. Still a great card though. After I churned the SUB, I mainly just use it for my streaming services, but I'll use it for travel expenses as they arise. I'll more than likely down tier it to the CFF in a year or so. That way I'll have 2 of them for $3k in quarterly spend when an awesome quarter comes up.
💚 I’m working my way through amex first rather than chase. That way I’ll have a built in break while I plan an aspirational trip for my son’s 21st birthday in two years. Once that year rolls around all my Amex cards should be out of 5/24
I actually have found that if you like to fly delta, the green card pairs great with the Amex delta gold. The green card gets you those transit, travel, and dining points while the delta gold gets you the supermarket and delta points. Furthermore, the combined annual is not bad at only $250 per year. Having clear is nice so that’s one benefit. If you spend 10,000 on the delta gold (using it as a catch all), you get $100 in delta flight credit. Furthermore, you get the free bag for every flight; if flying with multiple people on the same ticket, that could be more than $100 each flight. I’d say this is a steal and something I will consider if delta becomes my main airline.
💎 just received a mail offer of 80k csp It’s a no brainer The wife just got it too 160k in points We are planning our Hawaii trip with them Thanks for the great info ✌🏻

There is a Chase branch near me but it is closed and it forces me to go across town to the next nearest one. Kind of a bummer. Probably why I moved to US Bank instead. 😀
Chase is not only closing down branches but ones that are open won’t help you unless your a business customer, they call it an advice center!? I’m with US Bank also.
@@rrt08 I have been to the local branch a couple times for personal banking tasks but not credit cards. The people are super nice but Chase policies hinder them. You talked about Insurance without talking about green’s lack of trip cancellation coverage. It is a big bummer as a travel card to be lack of trip cancellation protection
I just want to point out the Primary CDW you have on Amex is a lot less of a headache to deal with than chase. I rented a car for me wife and she tapped someone. Amex was a breeze to deal with. On the other hand I rented a SUV for my daughter and her friends for a bachelorette party with my CSR and the hoops I had to jump through were ridiculous. So yes, chase’s CDW is free but what’s your time worth.
💳 I have the corporate version as an employee, so I don’t get the perks but I do get a $150 credit on my Platinum card every year because I hold the corporate green, so that’s pretty great.
AMEX should allow you to own all three cards but give you the benefits when you use any of them. I am referring to the Green, Gold, and Platinum; once you have this combination all benefits should work on one card.
💙 please answer this question. I can't find it anywhere. When cards offer primary insurance on rental cars, does that cover companies such as Turo? I always get asked on Turo if I want to purchase the insurance. Currently, I have the CSR, and my wife has the CSP. We love them.
Does the CSP have Loss of Use Coverage for car rental? I know the Amex Green card has it and it is one of the main reasons I got it and a lot of people don’t realize the importance of that. Technically if you got into an accident for everyday the rental car company can’t rent the vehicle due to being out of service, you will have to pay a fee for each day.
Applied for the Amex Green just because...was told that I would not be eligible for a welcome offer even though I only have the BCP as well as a high yield savings account. They were willing to give me the Everyday Preferred, but not the Green Card? Why? Have not considered Chase yet...
💎💚 If I had to do it again, I would have kept my Gold card and got the Green card when it made sense. Instead, I got an offer from Amex where I upgraded to Platinum. Platinum is not a good fit for me. Also, I was really disappointed to find out there is a transfer fee for moving Amex points to Delta (could apply to all partners). I want to get Green card which I think will be a better fit.
Love your content. Big question I have a AMEx card since 93. Got it my first year. The Optima card. They don’t use really issues it anymore but I always get a new one when it renews. I want to change out but my understanding is my years of keeping that allows me something? Is the longevity of the card “Member Since” have any meaning or just go find my a different Amex?
I have to crunch up some numbers but I think I am team 💎 CSP because of the trip and rental insurance alone. Six hours delayed, you’re already covered vs American Express 12 or 24 hours. 😄. I am thinking to open these two in the future, CSP or CSR and Capital One venture x, which one I should open first?
💎 Hilarious! You didn't cover the most important thing with a travel card. Travel!! If you stay in the US, then the Amex is fine. But outside in the real world (not fancy resorts), the Amex is worthless. Can't use it. I travel full time all over the world and have a CSR and Amex Platinum! Guess which card is used more often?? CSR! In fact, I'm going to downgrade the Amex. Just don't use it at all in the real world. Visa is accepted everywhere. Amex isn't.
Looking for some advice. Have a trip planned for AZ end of October and a trip planned for Disney beginning of December. Honestly just looking for a card for each trip that has the best bonus offer where I can get the most points to cover trip expenses. Any suggestions? I really prefer cards with no annual fee but would be open to it if needed.
Venture X, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Citi Premier are the usual suspects. If no annual fee, probably a bunch of the "$150 / $200 back for spending $500" cards?
💎1:54 waaaittt.... I qualify for another elevated sign up bonus after 4 years if I already have a Chase Sapphire card? What is the process like? 💚 So the ideal way to approach the Amex cards (first timer) is to grab the Platinum at an elevated offer first, then grab Gold/Green once those elevated offers are there? You can hold on to any of the Amex cards?
💎💎💎💎 Damn Sebby..just the video I needed..kind of haha. So I was debating getting amex green for sign up bonus ( I already have csp trifecta and amex gold) I ended up applying but got the pop up screen!!? I only have amex gold and had blue cash preferred but downgraded it to no AF card (cuz Im team Travel) a week before applying for amex green...could that be reason for pop up jail? I only travel on 1 big trip per year...never use any public transportation so maybe CC God's were preventing me from making a mistake? Haha do u see any reason for anyone with csp trifecta and amex gold to add amex green to wallet? Thanks in advance brotha, appreciate you!
I currently have the gold and I'm thinking of getting the green for the new welcome bonus that they offer and for the wider range of the points multiplier is it worth getting in my case ? I'm always using the card for things covered in the multipliers
Would anyone be willing to offer their thoughts & opinions on my credit card decision? I have a lot of big expenses & trips coming over the next year (wedding, vacations, etc), and figured it'd be smart to make use of all these large purchases. I'm leaning toward the Amex Green largely because it's looser regarding rewards on travel (I'll be renting multiple Airbnbs in addition to the flights & occasional hotel). That, coupled with improved intro offer and rewards for dining & transit, make me think I'll get good value out of it. I'm not super familiar with the other perks such as clear & loungebuddy, but would hope I'd get some value out of them. I'd obviously need to make a rough estimate of what my spend would be, to see if any of it's worth it with the $150 annual fee (which I realize would be covered with the 20% back on travel expenses, but it just seems like you need to spend a decent bit to really reap any serious rewards ($3000 spent on eligible purchases nets you 9000 points, which when transferred to Delta is worth ~$100?)). I'd then look at the Amex Blue Cash Preferred to cover some other areas of major spend (groceries & gas), which admittedly is cash back and not rewards, but I don't mind (not sure how precious reward points are due to my limited experience, ~1 day of searching lol). I think I'd cancel both after a year, and just have something simple like the Amex Blue Cash Everyday or similar equivalent (unless this is a big no no in credit card culture). Appreciate any advice, thanks!
💎 I'm at 9/24 and currently running a Amex system right now, but I will be under 5/24 in August 2024, and will be eligible for another sapphire bonus in the same month. I have three no annual fee freedom cards right now, with a ton of UR points not knowing what to do with. Would anyone advise to upgrade one of them into a CSP for the time being to cash them out for travel, and downgrade right before I am eligible for a new sapphire sign up bonus again? @@TheyMostlyComeAtNightI mean they just said the deal breaker between Amex and Chase, not necessarily the cards in the video.
💚 I’m planning on opening this soon.
Generally agree. Amex tends to be less of a headache. Highly depends on how you value your time :)
💎 I’m a fan of the house of Dimon myself. Chase gives a decent cash out option that Amex lacks in times of no travel.
💚 for the multipliers. I’m becoming les and less a fan of the chase cards
I think the Navy Federal Credit Union Flagship Rewards is a good competitor to the green card. Chase can go pound sand.
The Hilton Aspire paired with the CSR.
💎 without the schwab platinum I don't think MR points can make sense to me at my current stage in life
You can't downgrade the Amex green, but you can open one of the Everyday options and protect the MR points if you cancel the green 💎
💎 I've got the CSR and AMEX Plat and Gold. I'm team Hyatt (hence CSR) but is it redundant to get the Green to maximize FHR trips?
I canceled my gold at the end of last year. Might pick up the green because I pay for clear every year anyways
Best Duo, Green and every day preferred!
I would say that domestically, Amex cards are ok but internationally, Visa and Mastercards are better liket he CSP
I like how he slowed down how fast he talks. Very informative channel but some of the videos he is hard to keep up with
I wish there was a card that considered Walmart and Costco in the grocery category
Neighborhood walmart codes as “grocery” on the amex Gold, but not the big supercenter walmarts
I’m both 💎 💚 just upgraded my Green card to Gold I know I know I shouldn’t don’t that but I did smh 🤦🏽♂️
Green card for me! Good comparison!
I think you touched on this but I might have missed it. Can the Green card transfer out to partners? Or do you need the Gold to do that?
I have to crunch up some numbers but I think I am team 💎 CSP because of the trip and rental insurance alone. Six hours delayed, you’re already covered vs American Express 12 or 24 hours. 😄. I am thinking to open these two in the future, CSP or CSR and Capital One venture x, which one I should open first?
My rewards earning potential is still higher on the CSP than the Amex Green 5:13.
Maaaaaan i need to get in on that green!!!
Amex isn't.
If I already had a no fee Chase Sapphire card, is there a way to get CSP? Need your advice. Thanks!
Is the 4 year bonus rule for sapphire cards forever, or is there a limit to how many times you can get a sapphire bonus?
What about CapitalOne Travel?
I currently have the gold and I'm thinking of getting the green for the new welcome bonus that they offer and for the wider range of the points multiplier is it worth getting in my case ? I'm always using the card for things covered in the multipliers
I did that mainly for the bonus. Booked at flight & got the $200 credit in the same mth! $3k spend in 6mths is pretty easy
What if u got all three but each has it spot platinum for airline Gold for food & green for all else would
That work ?? So instead of the chase trifca
💎 we platinum sebby I need you on the podcast we’re in houston I got you for the money
Anyone know if there any websites that let you check what the previous sign up bonuses were for certain cards? Thank you!
Off topic can you have freedom and freedom flex
💎 I'm at 9/24 and currently running a Amex system right now, but I will be under 5/24 in August 2024, and will be eligible for another sapphire bonus in the same month. I have three no annual fee freedom cards right now, with a ton of UR points not knowing what to do with. Would anyone advise to upgrade one of them into a CSP for the time being to cash them out for travel, and downgrade right before I am eligible for a new sapphire sign up bonus again? Any data points on if that would affect the chances of receiving an SUB?
