    My least favorite part of their fight is when the 3rd Abyss Watcher is killed and I have to run in circles for 2 minutes until he respawns 😂

      haha yeah i've been there! But I've discovered that if you make sure the 3rd and 2nd fight each other while you isolate and kite off the main boss, the other two will keep each other alive long enough for you to mostly finish off the boss!

    I am playing DS3 for the first time and I just did these guys yesterday, I think the fight is so cool because the first phase really does prepare you for the second one, I think I had to use 4 or 5 flasks on the first phase, and had no flasks for maybe 75% of the second phase, just finishing with a sliver of health. The fight is amazing because when you finish the first phase (especially if you had a rough time) the second phase comes and its just a crazy feeling, definitely did not expect it.

    Great analysis! It’s cool to see someone talk about the actual moveset’s dance vs just the 2v2 format (though I enjoy them both). Would be interested to know your thoughts on pontiff and dancer since I struggled with them the most

      Pontiff is such an interesting case. I thought he was broken until I did my no-damage-taken run against him for my series on the channel. Once I went thru the brutal labor of actually learning his move set, my opinion on the fight really changed, and I now think it's one of the most fun in the game.

    One of my favorite bosses in DS3. My first run of DS1 was intended to be a fast roll Artorias build, but things didn’t work out, as I accidentally gave his soul away to Ciaran. I played into NG+ to finish the build, but had unwittingly overleveled myself out of the optimum PVP range. I was elated when I saw the Abyss Watchers in the opening cinematic of DS3 and based my first build around them. I think my next DS3 build will be an Artorias one, or I might go back to DS1 to rectify my mistake with a new character. Excellent video!

    Do a video about the Capra demon I still don’t know why people despise him I can see that he can be frustrating but everything in this fight work together to make feel so pressured and on your nerves but then he becomes a cakewalk that’s why I think it’s great it’s the first impressions for that makes him good

    One of the few Soulsborne bosses that executed ganks well by decreasing the health of the adds and giving all of them a predictable and balanced, yet varied moveset with a good, consistent pacing that rarely frametraps. Unlike bosses like Valiant Gargoyles and O&S, they're fun to control due to their well-programmed aggression and demand for proper spacing. It excellently exploits visual and audial storytelling to tell their tragedy of infighting and corruption, and also their inspiration from Artorias. Brilliant boss and succinct* analysis.

    Sadly there are only handful of bosses in ds3 with multiple phases, abyss watchers being one among them was totally a worth it fight , plus the music and the arena.
    I loved the boss design of dark souls , but one thing sekiro did so good was the addition of multiple phases to fight , yes it is hard i get it , but it also encourages the replayability. Among total of 25 bosses in ds3 ,only 6 have multiple phases. Wherein sekiro out of 11 i think 9 have multiple phases and even 4 with ishhin, painful yes but fair, indeed

    When i defeated abyss watchers it felt more like luck to me (only died 5 times) i chugged through all my flasks and i rolled through his attacks but got hit with the fire after the attack, it felt annoying. But now seeing footage of how hes supposed to be fought (by dodging back) this fight looks so good!

    i have a question for dark souls 3 in general, since you look like to thave the same playstyle than me, i think that we'll have the same point of view. mostly in sl1 run, most bosses in ds3 are meant to run away, there is no video on the internet than don't use the technique of hit and run, waiting for an opening, punish, then, running away. wich i hate, really. Is dark souls 3 possible with an agressive playstyle, like in elden ring or is the only way to finish this game in sl1 is the boring one, it and run. Do you have the same problem or do you agree with me that this is the only melee/no hit way to play ds3 ???
    more specifically:
    Exemple, the big blue guys at high wall of lothric with an halberd have an attack where he does multiple spin. We cant roll this attack with precision, since the only way to avoid is running away. i like the alternative they've done in elden ring where we can mostly straffe the attack with perfect roll positionnement and perfect timing, however, this option in ds3 just doesn't exist, at least i didnt saw one like that in my 3 playtrough of the game. the attack are either just a simple timing roll or running away and baiting attack, waiting for an openining, punish and repeat(wich i really hate). in Elden Ring, the rolling positionnement mather, giving us an alternate patern to fight the boss, an agressive patern wich i stick to. Do you have the same problem or do you agree with me that this is the only melee/no hit way to play ds3 ??? it would be great a topic arround this in a futur video. Thanks for reading i know it was long 😂

    • @jermergerg
      @jermergerg  17 дней назад +1

      Thanks for commenting! I agree partially and disagree partially. I think you can possibly argue that positioning and roll direction matter and are a bit more developed in Elden Ring, but I wouldn't call them irrelevant in DS3. I have a no-hit run of bosses for DS3 on my channel which I'm still working on, but if you see the videos for Pontiff, Twin Princes, Nameless King, etc, you can see instances of where positioning matters and roll direction matters. For Twin Princes, sure, you can just roll through attacks, but you're better off rolling with intentional directionality to reach and deal damage to Lothric. With Pontiff, positioning is super important, because if you stick to a generally lateral orbit, you can actually really minimize the amount of jabs he does with his magic sword, and these are generally undodgeable because of their speed. Champion Gundyr in particular also has a ton of opportunities for strafing.
      That said, as I mentioned earlier, I think it's hard to deny that the combat in Elden Ring is more mechanically complex, and for the most part I think that complexity was executed successfully. I think dodge rolling through attacks is just plain fun, though, so it's never really bothered me in DS3 :)

      Is friede is hard because the fight is 4 phases? Or is it the longevity of fight

    • @jermergerg
      @jermergerg  16 дней назад

      @@_bhuc3802 I'm working on a video about Nameless King :) He's hard, but once you figure him out, it's actually not bad at all. Friede is hard because of the 3 phases but also because she's extremely aggressive with massive combos that deal enormous damage. her stamina/poise recover almost instantly, but it's really her relentless aggression that makes it hard. It's an absolutely incredible fight though!

    I hate this boss. Why is there a 3rd that acts as a wild card? I understand we see them at odds against eachother in the cutscene, but why cant it be a fight that gradually increases in difficulty the longer you take in the first phase by having the sane ones rise one by one to face you?
    "Too hard", well, the way the fight is now, it's a joke for a group that is collectively a "Lord of Cinder".
    I just like how the common opinion for ds3 is that "Gael and AW" are the top 2 bosses. Why? Because "Another Artorias/Guts" reference? That's it?

    • @jermergerg
      @jermergerg  17 дней назад

      You're certainly not required to like this boss or any boss! However, it's one thing to express an opinion, and another to make statements that aren't based in fact. I have seen basically nobody say that their top two favorite bosses are Gael and Abyss Watchers. Gael certainly, but like maybe 2% of people I interact with would place Abyss Watchers as second best, so I'm really not sure what the basis is for your claim. As for why people like him, answering snidely with "another Artorias reference" is pretty disingenuous. You are literally commenting on a video that spends 7 minutes listing why I think it's a good boss, and I discuss Artorias for only like 25 seconds at the end. Friendly critique and back and forth is not only welcome, but encouraged here. That's quite distinct from the tone and substance of your last paragraph, though.
