It was at this time that François Mitterrand met the woman who would give his life meaning again. Anne Pingeot, 19, would become his lifelong companion, who would be present throughout his rise to power and who would remain by his side until his last breath. For the first time, Anne Pingeot agreed that the fragments of this passionate love affair - hundreds of letters and a diary - would be shown on television, before being handed over to the National Library.
