Thank you so much for introducing me to two of my favorite songwriters/producers. The Holland Brothers are up there with Beethoven and Tchaikovsky because their music is forever.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Interview with the Platinum Master Music Writer/Producers ...Mr.Eddie and Brian Holland.. They are my Idols... as a Little Brown Headed Girl from Memphis Tennessee. They are my Heroes. What I heard in Melody Lyric and Music coming into my Ears. Influenced me a Lifetime. I am Drug and Alchol Free and have always been that...07/15/2020...They Penned all the Hits by the SUPREMES who are my Favorite Group...I have written Songs Since I was 4 years old...and now I am a Music Professional..I am a Skilled Keyboardist..I really Would like the Opportunity to Meet HOLLAND DOZIER HOLLAND REAL SOON....YOU ARE THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. YOU ARE THE LIGHT......THAT DHONE AND SHINES IN MY HEART.......
@@TheCissero Who knows… but, after listening to "You're Gonna Need Me" with Dionne again yesterday, like 4 times in a row.. I was thinking " this is divinely inspired..." The tuning is also very close to, or right at, A432. That song is really what brings me here, to learn more.
That part about him not indulging in listening to his own music, I get it. The blood, sweat and tears it took to collaborate and generate a 'hit' song. Not one peer encouraging you, until decades later-- by God the stress must have been awful. BTW: Thank you for an amazing interview with these legendary song-writers-producers.
I just finished the book and about to start on Lamont’s. Really good book and you can tell Eddie has a huge personality with charisma. He’s not arrogant though! You can tell what great guys they are and how they complimented each other. They do talk about the difficulties with Berry and Lamont and it’s painful but they give credit where credit is due and they’re all brothers regardless. I read it in a day and a half, couldn’t put it down.
I love these thank god for HDH, without them there be no Supremes, four top , temptations, Marvin Gaye Gladys Knight and the Pips and so many more tlove you guy your music has helped through some bad times theSupremes were the prettiest girls on stage , and i have most of your 45s and LP's, thanks again HDH
I think there's a difference between writing good songs and writing hits. Holland Dozier Holland had a sense of lyrics, melodies and chord progressions that would lead to hits. They knew how to speak to what people wanted ro hear at the time and it was crossover music
Yes it is! The mother, the grandmother as influences...the uncle with the records the boys loved! And, an interesting part: Brian Holland's relationship with Diana Ross. However, they are the greatest songwriters of all time.
Eddie I'm not going to talk much and then he talks all the way through the interview. But they are both genius some writers and I am in the process of analysing how they have written their songs I have looked on RUclips to see if anyone has done a compositional analysis of their songs and I haven't found anything so I'm thinking about doing a video myself and having a go at writing a song in their Style
Great interview because the interviewer never interrupted. Such amazing chemistry with the Holland brothers and Lamont Dozier.
