  • Learn how to make this beautiful non-edible gingerbread house, that smells amazing and you can also use it as a luminary.
Make a batch of cinnamon and applesauce dough. Cut out the walls, leave them to dry for 24-48 hours, or bake them in the oven. Grab a white gel pen and decorate the house. Glue it together, patch the gaps, and leave it to dry for a couple of hours. Add further decorations as you like.
Enjoy your new scented gingerbread house craft, that will last you for years.

I wonder if I could use this dough, which I assume is equal parts applesauce and cinnamon, to make a large gingerbread house and glue it together with royal icing. Living in SC, I wonder if the applesauce would attract bugs? Does it save for years or should I shellac the finished project? I also wonder if this dough is stronger than gingerbread and if it is subject to humidity?
Thank you for excellent ideas. I have watched so many videos and found 3 of yours better than any I have watched. Toilet paper shapes, pine cone heart ornaments, and this little house. Thank you for posting.

Thank you! You're very kind.☺ Yes, it's made of 1 cup applesauce and 1 cup cinnamon and the dried project will last for years, you don't need to shellac. Just make sure to pack it carefully and store it in a dry and cool spot. I keep my cinnamon ornaments and this house in a box, and I wrap them in tissue paper. Always keep them away from moisture (it will soak it up)! I'm not sure about the bugs. I didn't have any issues so far and I made my first batch of ornaments 10 years ago. They are intact and still have a scent. I think it has the same durability as gingerbread, maybe a bit weaker. If you want to make a larger house make the walls thicker. You can glue it and decorate it with icing (I don't think the icing is strong enough to hold it together, but you may try).

This toilet paper roll mandala was my first craft and the most popular project on my blog colorfulcraftcorner.com/toilet-paper-roll-mandala/
My next video and blog post is going to be a toilet paper roll wreath, so stay tuned :) Hopefully, it will come out next week.
