He'd be the Token Evil Teammate who stuck around with AEUG because wherever they go, they get into mobile suit battles and he should be involved in it.
It makes sense because Mr. Yoshiyuki was busy with another project (CCA) and let Mr. Akinori do most of the directing with this one. Still turned out pretty well, I'd say.
...and still kicking in the Late UC, tho I kinda feel sad for the ZZ's state during UC 150s. AE just didn't bother to repair/update the damn thing for the fight against the Zanscare Empire. Also, Judau/Grey Stoke kicking in Alpha Centauri
I believe this show early softer and calmer approach to the UC universe was made to create a balance after the later / ending episodes of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.

The tonal shift is a lot less jarring when you don't immediately jump to ZZ after Zeta. But make no mistake, even though it starts very goofy - it gets back to Zeta levels of sadness as the story progresses.
Towards the last episodes there is a twist but still not enough serious or dramatic. What I really don't like is one thing. The protagonist always do what he wants and Bright Noa never punish him for more then one minute...the spirit of the show is: "Do whatever you want in your life and don't care about your actions ever". IMHO
The series has some pretty serious low points, especially during the beginning. But it’s also has some of the highest highs of any gundam series I’ve seen to date towards the end so it balances itself out in the end in my books
maybe because they actually watched the series before and after it and realise its a quality dropoff? you aren't quirky for liking the dark souls 2 of anime contrarian.
@ from what I’ve seen of ZZ, while I doubt it will be a masterpiece like Z, it will be a good piece for the catalog. I wouldn’t call it Dark Souls 2 but Forza Horizon 2.
@ my bad, a better comparison would be zz as return of the jedi from the ewok nonsense to the lando blowing up the death star again just because with all vader and luke scenes cut out and no emperor (basically cca) to zetas empire strikes back. or worse this zz is simply the pacific rim uprising of the original four.

Yo, is there any chance you guys could put the Gundam U.C. OVA in the lineup of upcoming stuff? Especially instead of the RE:0096 version? RE:0096 has a lot of really weird and awkward cuts from the original OVA and totally messes with the pacing of the story, it's not fun to watch at all.
Do you think they are uploading the first episode of each series to get people to watch them on paid streaming or are they actually going to put all on them on RUclips?

Try not to censor the episode where they went to the Middle East. That episode shows that they need more research before they start making it. Start by ASKING the relevant people before doing stuff like that again. I'm not even offended, just sad that they didn't properly ask before making it.
This show starts out feeling very old and slapstick and then becomes a timeless classic; Gundam fans should stick it out.
Yazan was a great villain, wish they had given him a better end.
