Very good video. I’m battling the start and die problem in my 85. Have pretty much done everything you’ve covered here. New pump engages and pressures to 39. New filter. Cleaned relay connection. Same problem. Starts and runs then dies. Dies faster if ya touch the throttle. Cornfussed!
Yes. Old fuel in the fuel rail. After a good flushing of the fuel rail and doing a much more intensive cleaning of the whole fuel system finally got it running properly. I couldn’t believe the nasty congealed crap that came out of the rail.
I've done pump and filter, fuel pressure is 90psi according to the tool i rented, starts and dies, checked for pulse and it has pulse, but no start, sat for 20yrs.... yikes, i also checked fuses, and fuel pressure regulator, spark plugs etc. Fires and die no matter what
My 78 does the same thing. But runs till the carb runs out of gas I am thinking. Like you going to check all the filters. If it's the pump I'll put a electric pump on the side of the frame
So I had the same issue with my 85 the rubber fittings for the new pump were different went back they showed me a fuel pump for an 84 and it was an exact match
