After being diagnosed with Stage 3 (possibly 4) ovarian cancer during surgery on my left ovary back in June 2022, I decided to pursue treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. So far I have been through six rounds of paclitaxel and carboplatin. I have also had two inconclusive biopsies (on my liver and lymph nodes). On Monday, January 16, 2023, I had a tumor debulking surgery that included a laparotomy, hysterectomy, salpingo-oophorectomy, lymphadenectomy and an omentectomy. After 8+ hours of surgery, a 12 inch incision, 4 nights in the hospital and a whole lot of pain and nausea, I am currently recovering at our Airbnb in Rochester.

First off, I just wanna say I'm using my husband's phone so the name comes across as Lester, but it's me Cher, his wife. I have the same "phobia" you have with nausea and vomiting...it scares the living hell out of me, so in that respect I know how you r feeling...and I'm so very sorry for all that u are going thru. I wish I could take it all away from you.
You looked and sounded so much better at the end of the video.
We all love you both!
Thank you Brian for taking such good care of Jessica and loving her so much!
My ❤️ and prayers are with you
Psalm 91 🙏💕
Praying you are healing more and more each day Jessica. ❤
Hurting, alone, and exhausted....but she still gets the footage from the back of the ambulance. You are amazing.
So so so sorry, guys. Wish we could all share and relieve you of the pain. Love and hugs to you both.
Retired surgical nurse here...look into sniffing alcohol swabs or fumes from an (medical/rubbing/ isopropyl) alcohol bottle for the nausea. It helps most of the time just as well as the meds, and faster. Take several inhales of the alcohol, then breathe normally (just room air), then a few more whiffs of the alcohol. Don't know if you guys will read this but hope it helps in the future, and I sure hope you have a bunch of 'normal' days in your very near future.
They have to make sure its ethanol based and not methanol or isoproponal.
❤️👌🏼👏🏼also nurse 😊
thank you for the tip
Funny that you offer this method for staving off nausea when that smell makes me want to hurl. I’ve never been offered oils to sniff. That one sounds much more appealing. 🤧
I use 100% pure peppermint oil- 1 to 2 drops on the palm of hand, rub hands together, then cup your hands over nose & mouth, & breath deeply (make sure your hands don’t touch eyes and mouth or the peppermint burns).
This is probably par for the course after major surgery and not really “setbacks”. With each day it is bound to get better. “One day at a time” is the best way to look at it. You are in the best hands between the Mayo team and your wonderful Brian! Hang in there! Prayers going up for you! ❤
You are in our prayers, dear lady!!
Amen! We are knocking on heaven's door continuously for Jessica and Bryan.
Hang in there Jessica. I feel in my heart you are going to make a full recovery. Healing takes time. You will do this. Gas is a horrible thing after surgery. Prayers all the way around.
“In sickness and in health”. I’m so proud of both of you and pray without ceasing daily. Ovarian cancer in 1972 and so much research and progress has been made. 🙋♀️☕️❤️🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸
Wow 50 years later still putting people thru the ringer and you say so much progress has been made ??! I guess that’s the delusional nice way of putting it…. 🫢 y’all weird this looks crazy when Jesus gave us herbs that literally heals ALL DISEASE
@@changenow6002 ouch. I think I was just admonished. So sorry I took the time (as did you, btw) ti comment. That won’t happen again!!!
❤@Miss Joyce Fox it's a lovely encouraging comment. I wish the same for Jessica 🙏
Actually, I got a nasty/gram from this post so I won’t be posting again. I pray for your healing and I will be thinking of you. I was merely sharing with you me surviving cancer lo these many years ago when surviving was less than 2%. God loves you and so do I! ❤️🙏
Pay that person no mind Joyce. We certainly appreciate the prayers. And you are correct, a lot more progress has been made in treatments since 1972. 🙂
Keeping you in prayer Jessica, as well as you too Brian!
Dear Father! Please give Jessica full relief of this disgusting nausea, that's the worst! Father, please heal Jessica not only from this surgery, but from this cancer and anything else messing with her body! Thank you so much for providing her Brian for such love, comfort, and companionship! Lord, thank You for providing Mayo Clinic, of all the places in our county, You have provided the best one to her! Please continue to provide financially for this precious couple and as they walk through this fire together, please help them to keep their senses of humor for those occasional moments that really are funny! In Jesus' name, Amen!
Amen🙏🏻
🙏Amen
Yes please Jesus 🙏
Amen
Amen.
Amazing Brian……a treasure for his Jessica and an example to all husbands and partners out there! Jessica is the bravest person in the world!! 🙏♥️
Yes, she is, Karen. They both are.
❤❤❤❤
Besties for life!
after having a cancer related radical hysterectomy at the age of 36, i ended up with an infection that kept me in the hospital for 13 days, unable to eat. i went home with a bag on each side, and had to wear them for weeks. my mom called me the bag lady. I'm happy you have brian to see you through the pain and discomfort
What causes the build up of fluid?
That there is a hopeful note!
@@kate1830 Thank you for the education. ⚕️🩻🩺
So sorry that you went through this. So glad you are well!!
@@tamarabeck6350 they nicked my bowel during surgery, causing an infection
Oof, when you said “I just want to feel normal,” I felt that. So many of us take that for granted until we get sick or injured. I hope you feel more normal every day!
The first time I felt kind of normal after chemo was when I got a cold. It was such a weird relief to have a normal illness!
The way you are documenting this journey gives such a clear picture of what it is like to navigate to healing. Sending all the love and hugs in the world.
And we will be watching the journey till you’re well
100%. I’ve said a ways back, but this is such a huge blessing for all of us. I feel like we’ll all either go through it or be helping a loved one at some point. Love the comments from those who have been through it as well. Sharing this with us all is SO much appreciated.
Brian is such an old soul. So patient and calm. Sending you prayers, good thoughts, and lots of healing vibes.
Prayers for you, Jessica & Brian. I love you both. Please stay strong. 🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼 xxx
I’m so sorry 😢. My heart breaks for what you’re having to go through…. You two are so strong… praying for a breakthrough! ❤
Congratulations for breaking the 100,000 subscriber mark. You have so many people pulling and praying for you. You are both in my prayers every day.
Considering her surgery, I was surprised that they didn't keep Jessica in the hospital for at least a week! Take care!❤
It turns out the longer you stay in the hospital the more complications you have. Nosocomial infections are number one. You’re better to be at home recovering with your own germs
Seriously!! As a nurse, I couldn’t believe they let her out so quickly….
I would have thought at least a week, at the least
I totally agree!
Take care Jessica ❣️ pray for pray 🙏
So sorry for what you are going through. Your husband is so positive. Take care & heal🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💖
My mother had cancer and was at Mayos in 1952 when I was 2 and she was 34. She loved St Marys…btw she lived to be 82.sending love❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Fighting that monster is not for sissy's nor smooth. It takes a strong person and after watching you - you are that person and with a beautiful attitude. Wishing you the best and sending you a hug.
I dislike seeing Jessica feel so unwell. I want to give her the biggest (most gentle) hug ever. You’re doing awesome, Jessica. Brian is such an amazing Husband/Soul. Lots of Love & Strength to You Both ♥️✨.
I am so sorry you are both going through this. I am on a journey with terminal autoimmune (SSc)
and multiple myeloma (MM). I completely understand the things you are going through. Prayers and positive energy your way!
I'm so sorry. Words are so inadequate but I'm sending you a hug.
Sending hugs, love & healing intentions to ease your pain & fear to you too. I’m sorry you’re suffering. ♥️✨
God bless you and your family ❤️✝️

Sorry for what you’re going through praying
Prayers for u get better soon god hear our prayers for now
Prayers for you, Brian, your doctors. Crying out to God for you. You are both amazing! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️ The Great Physician is in charge.
Jessica when you said you needed a hug my sweet kitty Binx reached up and patted you on the face.
Even when she’s feeling rotten, she’s such a natural beauty!
Truth~Jessica has such a natural glow about her, with those lovely big, blue eyes, plus a beautiful smile☆☆...She and Hubby B. are truly such an adorable TEAM together♡♡:) Holly in Surprise, Arizona
Jessica is indeed beautiful inside and out.
I had the same surgery, plus lost my colon, bladder lift and reconstruction. I felt worse after coming home and ended up back in hosp with severe dehydration. Take one day at a time. Surgery is really hard on the body.
Sending so much love from Ontario Canada!
Thinking of you daily xo
You are so strong!!! I’m amazed you can sit up?? Hang in there, it will get better!!! (9 yr Breast cancer survivor ). 😍
I’ve heard when something is taken out fluid builds up so the drains are very helpful. When I had abdominal surgery I had a drain on both sides. My fluids were blood red your are just a rose color so not as bad. Stay until you really feel better so you have a comfort level when you are released.
Bless your heart. Praying you feel better. Two weeks ago, I flushed my PICC line and wound up in the hospital a few hours later with a blood infection. The first nurse in the ER placed my IV in the bend of my right arm. I questioned her choice. When it blew a hour later, same nurse went for the bend in my left arm. Within a couple of hours that IV blew. There I was, with a dirty PICC line that couldn't be used. Getting stuck over and over again for new IVs. Spent 4 days in the hospital and still bruised up. My heart goes out to you. ❤️
What should the nurse have done differently?
We are all sending prayers and love ❤
Best care in the world at Rochester Mayo. Good luck.
Wishing you some relief from the nausea and pain. Be kind to yourself, take the time you need to heal, treasure this time with your special bestie, Brian. He is a keeper.❤. Thinking of you both.
I hear ya Jessica and I feel ya to, I’m a week and a day out from my 6th Chemo and all I want is to feel normal again! All I want is a clear scan!! Please God hold any and everyone going through health issues. We call on your strength to come within us! Keep us on the right path and help us heal. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
Thoughts and prayers are with you Jessica and Brian! There is nothing worse than feeling sick! 😢❤🙏🏻
Sending healing thoughts vibes
As totally rotten and fed up as you are, your smile is still blinding! You are a total inspiration. The best sign is that your sense of humour is intact and fully functioning. Get lots of the healing B hugs and know that you are being bombarded by love from all of us. Ps Love the fuzzy glow from all the new growth - it looks blond!
Will come back blonde and curley ..Hubby's going to think he's got a new lady..A friend of mine, her hair came back curly and black.Praying for you ...
Hard to get any rest in the hospital. Someone always wants to stick you with a needle, check your blood pressure, etc. Hope you can rest when you get out.
I don’t know which is worst: nausea or pain I kind of think I’d rather have pain. How awful you had both. Good you went to ER and got a second drain. Feel better Jessica ❤
I agree I’d rather have the pain
For sure I’d rather have pain!! I’ve had a lot of both pain and nausea (often the pain so bad I vomit) but I’d take pain before nausea!!
Nausea is often worse than pain....that nurses' suggestion of sniffing alcohol?
Worth a try?
Sending love from Tasmania
Yep me too, nausea has to be one of the worst feelings (if not the worst) that there is.
I hate pain but during my pregnancy I had HG which is an extreme form of morning sickness where I was nauseous from the 2nd month to the end of pregnancy 24/7. Some days I thought death was better than this. I preferred the pain to that. Nausea is an awful feeling especially when it just doesn’t go away.
Y'all are so brave. May peace be with you.
I know you had hopes - but I’m so grateful you are in the Mayo system. I hope your recovery takes a positive turn now. I just am moved to tears by the loving bond you and B share. Thank God for that love and care between you. Sending prayers to you both every day.
Stay strong you two!!!! So sorry you have to deal with all this!! My prayers are for you too!
Jessica, praying for you and Brian during your journey....I went through cancer treatments in 2010...my husband was my rock as Brian is yours. Stay positive.
Jessica, I don't know if you will see this, but you spoke straight to my soul. In July I perforated my gallbladder and had to have major abdominal surgery. Because of some complications, they were unable to remove my gallbladder and I have had a drain for the last 6 months to try and let it heal.
Even though I have a wonderful, supportive fiance (very much like Brian), it is very hard not to let this kind of stuff get to you. The pain, pressure, nausea, and feeling like this will never end can really get to you. When you said "I just need a hug" I felt every emotion wrapped up in that. Sending you a hug and letting you know you aren't alone either. We will get through this!
May God relieve you of your pain and nausea sweet Jessica. I pray for your strength and that you may feel normal again soon. I also pray for Brian’s continued strength. I’ve watched you all for a few months now and I’m not sure why this video made me cry, but my heart goes out to you all. Keeping you all in my prayers ❤
Aww sending prayers your way Jessica, Brian is an extraordinary husband, you can see the special bond you have with each other. I hope they can find out what's going on and you can be on the road to recovery. God bless you both 🙏❤️🙏
You two are such a beautiful example of an amazing partnership and love. I teared up Jessica when you were talking about missing your man, just wanting him back with you. I could hear and see the longing and desperation to get your life back, your B back. You are so amazing. You are showing up and handling every single mountain before you. You are kicking ass and getting better. Brian- you are the example of what a good man and husband is.
I’m sorry you’re going through so much Jessica and Brian.
The closeness between the two of you brought me to tears. You need your B. You needed a hug. God bless you.
Dear Jessica, I am full of admiration for you and Brian. I have only just found your channel as I am waiting for some tests because I am having worrying symptoms which are typical of ovarian cancer. The big difference is that I am 75 and can't imagine how this must have felt in your mid thirties.
Brian seems to be so supportive of you which must be wonderful. It seems to be so ironic that you took your health so firmly into your own hands and lost so much weight and yet you got this awful disease. You are tackling it so bravely. I will be watching your progress and sending you positive vibes. You are so inspiring. Carol UK
I pray you healing. You'll absolutely be fine.
I had two drains after my mastectomy and I'm telling you, until you get those dumb things out, you don't feel human. I have a wonderful husband, like your Brian, and he took care of me, including emptying the dumb drains. Hang in there, you'll be feeling like yourself soon!
Sorry to hear you had to go back. My situation was similar. Uncomfortable ER beds to the pain/nausea. I was beginning to think it would never end. I had 2 drains like yours for 4 weeks. That sucked. I’m praying for you both.
Feeling nauseous is sooo horrible it's soooooo wonderful when it stops. 🙏
You poor, poor thing. Nausea is so terrible. I will pray for you to have some relief and feel better.
You’re a superhero - The Drain-inator! And you will get through this 🦸🏻♀️
I can’t believe you are still making videos - It’s amazing that you are letting everyone come along on your journey with you.
I have been looking forward to the updates but I hope you two are not burning yourself out making these videos at such a challenging time.
Thinking of you both and sending Jessica healing vibes ❤
I am praying for you guys! So sorry for everything you're enduring! Hugs. ❤
If it brings you any comfort, I'm sure you have many people praying for you.
Your voice is strong so that's a good sign.
Wishing you health and healing. May God guide you along your journey. Be well.
May God be your strength. 🙏

Sending you big hugs… I am so very sorry that you are going through all this… ❤
Oh man, your a trooper going through all this!
Sending more prayers, Jessica! I'm so sorry you are going through this! 🙏💗🙏
God bless you Jessica, you’ve been through so much 🙏🏻. You’re very brave.
Are you getting up and ambulating? As a nurse I know how bad it hurts but you need to get up and move to get your bowels moving and help you get rid of the gas. It’s horrendously painful. Hon I’m praying for you and Brian. If you have fluid buildup outside of the surgical site it’s good that they aspirate it. It’s not easy to go through what you are going through. There is a reason they call it fighting the good fight. Hugs. Try to start slowly to ambulate slowly. Have the nurses help you get up with your iv and try to ambulate a little bit tomorrow. Every little bit will help to get that gas moving.
So sorry, my heart goes out to you. Stay strong, blessings and prayers for you both💕🙏
I’m so sorry you’re having to go through all this. I hope this will stabilize your nausea and that the east of your recovery is steady and less uncomfortable! 😢🥰
My heart goes out to you,mJessica. If love and good wishes have any power, you will get through this! ❤️❤️
Sending you all the strength and love I can…❤
