After being diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer during surgery on my left ovary back in June 2022, I decided to pursue treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. I went through six rounds of chemotherapy (paclitaxel/carboplatin) and had two inconclusive biopsies (liver/lymph nodes). On January 16, 2023, I had a debulking surgery that included a laparotomy, hysterectomy, salpingo-oophorectomy, lymphadenectomy and an omentectomy. Today we are sharing more about the pathology results from my surgery.

You are a victim of this disease. And its not fair that people expect of cancer patients to be warriors, to be always optimistic and ready to fight… that’s not the reality of anyone going trough a disease like this. Our son from the ages of 9 to 14 years had 6 surgeries, 32 months of chemo, 6 weeks of radiation. Every scan was a stressors. At 2 years post cancer God gave me scripture in Isaiah "behold I will do a new thing, will you not know it? It will spring forth in the midst of you" The new thing was no more tumors. PRAISE GOD Hallelujah❣ I am rejoicing with you. Blessings upon blessings.

I’ve had cancer twice now, and what you’re feeling is normal. You’ve spent months in physical and mental turmoil. You’ve lived with the emotions of the constant threat to your life (cancer). That doesn’t just go away. Many of us cancer survivors/warriors have PTSD because of cancer and treatments and scans and all that goes with it. My chemo ended in 2019, and just last year I threw away my tote of “chemo stuff” ( beanies, otc meds, etc.) and I just started bawling when I threw it away. It should have been a good thing, but all of those feelings just came rushing back. We cancer survivors live having faced our mortality, and waiting for that other shoe to drop. I’m 23 years from my first diagnosis and 4 years from my second. It DOES get better emotionally. There WILL be days where you don’t even think about cancer. Give yourself grace. Hugs from one survivor to another.

I hope Brian realizes he is such a huge part of Jessica’s successful treatments and recovery. His care, support, intelligent ability to learn as much medical information concerning Jessica is extremely impressive. I don’t know if the spouses and caregivers are aware how important their part is in helping their spouse survive cancer. I too have a Brian type of husband and he is my rock and reason I fought so hard to continue to survive and be together. Jessica be kind and gentle to yourself and expect the rollercoaster of emotions, you’ve been through extreme medical trauma and it takes awhile to acclimate to your new normal. You’ve lived in the cancer world for awhile and believe it or not sometimes it’s difficult to go back to normal life. I was diagnosed with metastatic stage 4 colorectal cancer which had metastasized to my liver and lymph nodes. There was cancer all on the right lobe of my liver so after chemo radiation, a colectomy, and an ileostomy bag placement I had a final scan just before going into surgery to have half my liver removed, my gallbladder , and 27 lymph nodes removed. The final scan looked nothing like the initial scan because the final scan showed no cancer at all. So I had to decide whether to continue with the liver lobectomy and was told if one cancer cell is left behind I would be in trouble. So I had half my liver removed along with gallbladder, and lymph nodes and my liver was biopsied which showed no cancer, but a few of my lymph nodes had cancer. The right lobe of my liver fully grew back healthy and I’ve been NED from stage 4 colorectal cancer for 8 years now. Do you know if they found cancer in any of your 57 lymph nodes that were removed and biopsied? I’m so happy for both you and Brian, you both have been through a hell of a journey! I wish you both peace, love, happiness, and health!! ❤

I went through 4 months of testing, scans, biopsies, and surgery to remove tumors. The doctors said I had cancer, but they were wrong. I remember thinking this is like a miracle. This only happens in the movies. I was beyond happy, but also, by the time it was all over I was totally traumatized. So many emotions! It takes a long time to get over everything you’ve gone through. I am so thrilled for you both. Let the healing begin!! ❤

The great fortune of finding medical professionals who matched your need, 3. Jessica, I know this has been hard to share, but there are people on RUclips out in the future who will follow your story and feel less alone when they face their own diagnoses. Your honesty is the best gift.

Well shucks now I'm crying too! Having raised a very poorly child (now 6'4" karate black belt) I know very well how holding it togther during the scary bits is the 'easy' part and then when you get an all clear the relief hits like a tidal wave and you can't believe it's real. Plus you feel awful for anyone else going through the same thing, especially when their outcome may be different. Survivor guilt (even by by proxy) is real, fear of the thing coming back is real, fear that someone will take away this hope is real. You're not the same person after this experience, I still need to hear from my son once a day, (just a text), he's ok or I can't sleep, fortunately he gets it and doesn't think I'm mad! As someone else said, your video (s) are far more real, and meanigful, than any confetti ones. Thankyou so much for sharing.

It takes time for our minds and bodies to become calm after so much trauma. You will have regular scans and test from now on but you will get used to that. The important thing to remember is if anything shows up in the future it will be caught early and taken care of. I send you peace and calmness.
