Sonic the Hedgehog[a] is a video game series and media franchise created by the Japanese developers Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Hirokazu Yasuhara for Sega. The franchise follows Sonic, an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who battles the evil Doctor Eggman, a mad scientist. The main Sonic the Hedgehog games are platformers mostly developed by Sonic Team; other games, developed by various studios, include spin-offs in the racing, fighting, party and sports genres. The franchise also incorporates printed media, animations, feature films, and merchandise.
Naka, Ohshima, and Yasuhara developed the first Sonic game, released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis, to provide Sega with a mascot to compete with Nintendo's Mario. Its success helped Sega become one of the leading video game companies during the fourth generation of video game consoles in the early 1990s. Sega Technical Institute developed the next three Sonic games, plus the spin-off Sonic Spinball (1993). A number of Sonic games were also developed for Sega's 8-bit consoles, the Master System and Game Gear. After a hiatus during the unsuccessful Saturn era, the first major 3D Sonic game, Sonic Adventure, was released in 1998 for the Dreamcast. Sega exited the console market and shifted to third-party development in 2001, continuing the series on Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation systems. Takashi Iizuka has been the series' producer since 2010.
While Sonic games often have unique game mechanics and stories, they feature recurring elements such as the ring-based health system, level locales, and fast-paced gameplay. Games typically feature Sonic setting out to stop Eggman's schemes for world domination, and the player navigates levels that include springs, slopes, bottomless pits, and vertical loops. Later games added a large cast of characters; some, such as Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, and Shadow the Hedgehog, have starred in spin-offs. The franchise has crossed over with other video game franchises in games such as Mario & Sonic, Sega All-Stars, and Super Smash Bros.
Sonic the Hedgehog is Sega's flagship franchise and one of the bestselling video game franchises, selling over 140 million units by 2016 and grossing over $5 billion as of 2014. Series sales and free-to-play mobile game downloads totaled 1.6 billion as of 2023. The Genesis Sonic games have been described as representative of the culture of the 1990s and listed among the greatest of all time. Although later games, notably the 2006 game, received poorer reviews, Sonic is influential in the video game industry and is frequently referenced in popular culture. The franchise is known for its fandom that produces unofficial media, such as fan art and fangames.

You forgot to mention why they were attacking Nine. It was never explained. At one point, Sonic and Mister Doctor Eggman tell everyone that Nine wasn't destroying their homes. Well, to tell you this, Ian Flynn has made his tweets on Twitter once Sonic Prime is over, he stated that Sonic Prime takes place some time after Sonic Advance 3(Yes, I said Some time after, not directly after it), but that's not all. He follows up that this also covers Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors, given Orbot and Cubot's appearance.
Plus, Ian Flynn also said that he's not the one to choose to make Sonic Prime canon, and he was only a Story Consultant for the show itself.
Also, the man behind the show(kinda forgot his name) made a clarification about the whole missing episode 8th situation. He stated that Episode 1 in the First Season were supposedly 2 episodes put together in 1 Episode.
Also, that cliffhanger ending for Season 3 is always meant Sonic is off to his next adventure.

They kept teasing that they also had technological know-how like Nine did, but after a fake-out death all they did was fix the Big Robot to fight the grunt robots. I was really expecting the two parts of Tails to be the ones to finally get to Nine, representing the loyal and hopeful parts of Tails fighting back against the bleak darker side of himself.
Not to mention how little Shadow actually impacted the plot... That was dissapointing.

Yeah, it seems that a lot of Sonic fans are miffed over the fact that Sonic Prime ended in a way that basically swept its multiverse concept under the rug for the sake of restoring the status quo for Sonic and friends, and honestly, I probably would be annoyed about it myself... if it weren't for the fact that I saw it coming a mile away.
World-shattering events in the Sonic universe (multiverse?) being glossed over is nothing new for the franchise. Hell, this isn't even the first time that Sonic's world has literally been shattered in some way only for the overarching narrative to move on like it didn't happen. Sonally shippers will know exactly what I'm talking about in that regard. I've learned to just take it in stride. SEGA wants to push the idea that everything is canon? Well, from my perspective, literally NOTHING is canon when it comes to Sonic; the franchise just does whatever the hell it wants where the narrative is concerned.
What's that? The world was broken apart in Sonic Unleashed by way of an apocalyptic event? Oh, wait, never mind, Sonic fixed that, let's move on! No need to ever mention it again!
What's that? Eggman took over the world and drove it to the brink of ruin in Sonic Forces? Oh, wait, never mind, that was all sorted out complete with Infinite being inexplicably erased from existence, let's move on! No need to ever mention it again outside of a cheeky reference here and there for the sake of momentarily indulging the fans while simultaneously throwing their entire perception of Sonic lore into question!
Like I said, I've learned to just take it in stride, Hell, Pokémon has been doing the exact same thing for a while now - building up a potential multiverse in the games and then using that as an easy shorthand excuse to explain away any narrative inconsistencies from one game to the next while also retconning fun gameplay mechanics out of existence. That's the in-universe reason why Mega Evolution is gone in the more recent titles; it literally doesn't exist in any individual Pokémon universe outside of the ones that the 3DS games take place in. No, I'm not happy about it, either, but there's nothing we can do about it.

There should have been more brutality between Sonic and Nine. Make them battered, bruised, and desperate after a long, brutal one on one in the fortress. Brutal like something you’d see in the DCAU. Let them beat each other’s hearts out, screaming at each other to beg the other to listen, Sonic slowly breaking down Nine’s walls, until they finally manage to resolve their conflict BEFORE being interrupted! Having Shadow and everyone gain up on Nine in the lab is so cheap and empty.

I will say, although I think the show has many fundamental flaws, I found it overall to be an enjoyable watch. I especially like how each of the shatter verse variance reflects some character trait of their prime universe counterpart.
    Example: Amy Rose
Rusty represents her ability to grow as a person. Much like how Amy went from Sonic’s biggest fan to one of his greatest allies, Rusty goes from a servant of the Chaos Council to her own person with her own goals.
Thorn represents her desire for good. She saw that her jungle was in danger and wanted to protect it, even if she went too far.
Black Rose represents her love of adventure, and when she becomes the captain, you could argue reflects her ability to be a leader.

I would like to spare a story from Ryan Drummond. Back around the Dreamcast era, when he voiced Sonic, he was talking with a Sega exec at the studio. Ryan asked if there was a Sonic cartoon that he could voice for at the time. The exec denied it because at the time, Sonic was doing rather well financially and there wasn’t a strong toy brand to market at that time.
This is what Sonic Prime is to me. It pushes out as many designs to market as possible but doesn’t use the characters or the world to their fullest and as a result we have a product rather than artistic identity.

About the pixel art not being a big deal, you are entitled to your opinion but I think it is honestly a pretty blatant flaw.
You are treating it like a nice extra that maybe wasn't too polished which feels like an overly generous way of looking at it.
Feels disrespectful to make something that sloppy instead of hiring someone who can actually do it, doesn't honour the classics at all and feels like a mockery.
Man of Action did a similar thing with the Mega Man show with pixel art that somehow looked worse. I'm sorry but it is impossible for me to view this as a loving tribute and not a low effort way for the show to try and convince people watching that the show is more plugged into the material than it really is.
As for the Gemerl "cameo", it feels more like an accident than actually paying homage, like they just pulled a boss from advance 3 not even realising that the machine Eggman was using was a character.
Maybe you could say I'm being too harsh but I'd rather they didn't bother, low effort sprite art like this feels like compensating for something.

I definitely agree with the criticism of not seeing much of the original versions of these characters, not only would it have been nice to see more flashbacks of them, but I think it also would’ve been nice to see Sonic get them back before the end and they join the fight against Nine cause I think it was a big missed opportunity to not have the OG versions interact with their alternate selves, especially Tails and Nine (that and more interactions between Shadow and anyone but Sonic cause seriously why is the only interaction Shadow has with any version of Rouge that brief one he had with Rebel in the final episode like are you kidding me right now), we could’ve seen Tails’ surprise at how far he could’ve gone without Sonic in his life by seeing Nine, Knuckles being a bit annoyed by Dread and Gnarly like Renegade Knucks but he and Rouge aren’t as serious as their New Yoke counterparts for obvious reasons, and Amy maybe could’ve been the one to bring together that sisterhood between Rusty, Thorn, and Black Rose. And maybe the four of them being back could’ve meant Eggman as well so he basically takes control of the Chaos Council because of their incompetence (though with those guys I’d have preferred if they were tossed out and instead we got versions of Eggman in each world, mainly an Emperor Eggman for New Yoke who’s similar to Robotnik from SatAM or the Archie Comics). The only way I can think of for how they’d be brought back before the finale though would be at the end of Season 2 when I think a Prism energy wave or whatever turned their ghost forms in Ghost Hill back to normal, maybe before another one came and turned them back into their ghost forms, Sonic managed to grab them and bring them back somehow, but I don’t know, maybe there’s a better idea (either way that would probably have to mean a different ending scene which I’m fine with because the one we got was weird, like if they were gonna go with the whole timeline reset or whatever then they could’ve just shown us a bit of the other worlds, especially New Yoke to see the Resistance is finally getting everything back on track over there now that the Chaos Council is gone, so it doesn’t seem like everything in the show may have been pointless). Also it would’ve been nice to see more characters here, kinda like it being annoying that they acted like Overused Hill is the only place in Sonic’s world, it’s odd that they seemed to act like the main four, Eggman, Shadow, Rouge, and Big are the only characters here, like it would’ve been nice to see how different other Sonic characters are in these worlds, like one example I can think of is maybe in New Yoke Cream was good friends with Amy before Amy was roboticized by the the Chaos Council and turned into Rusty which maybe makes it hard for Cream to even look at her before Rusty turns back to the good side and her and Cream are able to start again, it also might’ve been nice to see a more serious and maybe even less optimistic version of Silver from the future of that world. Really the only two characters that might not have been affected by this aside from Sonic and Shadow unless they were there when Sonic shattered the Prism are Blaze and Marine since they’re from a different dimension (though if they did do that, we’d only see Blaze I don’t think they’re gonna show Marine again outside of comics for a long time at this point).

10:26 I think the problem is the 8 episode binge format, it seems to run in to a similar problem that serials do where the writers go “we need to waiste an episode or random parts of the entire story on filler so extend the walk-in shots, slow down the actors and slow down the talking or just add gaps between sentences” this thing has the problem of having filler fights and being 3d animated so they can’t just throw in a filler villain without creating a whole new 3d model.

What baffles me is how it contradicts itself so often. It starts with sonic sacrificing himself with the promise of Nine restoring the other places, but Sonic breaks his word, and we have 4 episodes of combat only for the ending to be.......Sonic sacrificing himself with Nine restoring the other places, with no mention or downside of Sonic randomly breaking his word and causing literally the entire final act.
Then we have an entire episode about sonic learning to wait, since rushing at Nine would be a terrible idea, since it's exactly what Nine wants, who clearly has a plan and trap the second Sonic goes there, only for the solution next episode to be Sonic rushing at Nine, who...doesn't have a plan or trap at all.
We even have Nine saying he wants to kidnap people in the pirate place to use as hostages, since he knows a direct attack will fail, only to...directly attack sonic and not use hostages.

Honestly, in general I liked Prime. The first two seasons were enjoyable, (even if they got repetitive). However, season 3 wasn't terrible, but yeah, the Grim fight was so frustrating. I literally said to my tv multiple times, "When Is It Gonna End?!" My favorite thing about the show is just the characters and their relationships. I love how Sonic finally gets character development, and my God; this is the Best Shadow we've had in a long time. Him *actually* showing emotions, like being concerned for Sonic, makes me hopeful for his future. Like Sega said, wait for the third movie for them to reevaluate Shadow's character.

I did enjoy Prime, but there are a lot of problems.
I do hope for the next Sonic show, we can get a story that’s better thought out and well paced. And let’s bring in characters like Silver and Blaze. They can bring new story opportunities that don’t have to rely on the trend that’s popular at the time. We can bring in a new threat that will eventually require the Chaos Emeralds to beat it, and have Sonic, Shadow, and Silver going super to beat it, even throw in Burning Blaze for some extra fun.
I wouldn’t mind seeing characters like Rusty and Nine again, but in a different kind of way. I would love to see this kind of animation and voice cast back, but maybe they should change up the writing team, or at least make there writing more consistent and less repetitive.

Honestly, it would have been fun if more than just 0 became a villain. Maybe, because of the shatterspaces coming from, you know, the Prism, all the Tails realize that fixing it would destroy the Shatterspaces, killing those universes. Then, as the end, maybe with the Time Stones from Sonic CD, Sonic fixes the prism in a way that restores Green Hill, AND keeps the Shatterspaces intact. The final fight, then, is Nine stealing the Time Stones, hoping to destroy them, while Sonic rushes to tell him that, in fact, he needs the Time Stones to SAVE everyone.

but here is my take on how Prime could continue
for the format, eather an actual season 2 (parts 4, 5, 6, ect.) or continue with an IDW spin-off (with IDW you can include more locations and characters)
    as for the story
i imagen that that wave at the end, was 'green hill' becoming part of The Void permanently, characters can safely visit the shatterspaces and their friends/counterparts
but Eggman also discovers this, and starts to take control over the Chaos Council (as they notice that he is a real version of their part 2 finale weapon)
and hey, we could even see Sonic and Shadow counterparts, or new shatterspaces

And yeah i agree that this show would have worked better as a film,
But despite its issues i still enjoyed the show, and had a good time watching it, the animation was great, i enjoyes the show's portrayal of sonic and shadow, and and even if it wasn't executed perfectly i thought it was cool they had tails(nine) be the main villain of the final season.

The multiverse concept is cursed. In my opinion, no one really knows how to do it properly, not even Sony with their Spider-Verse movies. I consider those Spider-Man movies to be overrated because of the multiverse feeling like a gimmick, especially with the second film. Into The Spider-Verse was good because of Miles Morales’ story, not the multiverse in my opinion. Across The Spider-Verse was just okay because the multiverse story is at the forefront, and the multiverse characters were just cameos and a bunch of army, puke action everywhere. Not to mention that I don’t really care about these multiverse Spider people all that much. I wish Spectacular Spider-Man played a big role in the second movie.
The only multiverse thing that satisfied my expectations was Spider-Man No Way Home, because it was treated like an Avengers movie. Both Tom Holland’s character arc as Spider-Man and the multiverse concept got the same amount of respect. Plus, I actually cared about these multiverse characters. I’m kind of like you, Pup. You only care about the mainline Sonic characters and not these multiverse variants. I only really care about Peter Parker Spider-Man, his stories, as well as the characters associated with himself. I don’t care all that much about Spider-Pig, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Gwen, not even Miles Morales Spider-Man. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, I only cared about Peter Parker’s story. Miles just felt like filler and made me wish to go back to playing Symbiote Spider-Man again.

Its a matter of majority opinion. Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse movies are too populsr for you to say they didnt know what to do. You are the odd one out.
Media and business should *NEVER* appeal to the odd ones out. Else we get cases like Marvel's She Hulk and "progressive writing" that only appeals to a tiny percentage of Twitter whiners, and ended up turning off the majority.
As for Sonic Prime, writing and pacing issues are understandable criticisms

    • @supersaiyanfox9190
      @supersaiyanfox9190 4 месяца назад +2

@@MB-cb2heThat’s very ignorant and insulting of you to compare my opinion to She-Hulk. And I’m not saying that the Spider-Verse movies are bad. It’s just how they execute the multiverse narrative that I’m not the biggest fan of. It’s definitely better than other multiverse projects like Sonic Prime and The Flash, but only No Way Home executed the multiverse concept properly in my opinion.
Popular opinions can be trash at times, because the Internet in general is trash and full of obnoxious, annoying people that follow “trains” without thinking for themselves. They’re a vocal minority compared to the entire world’s population. Case in point: the “popular opinions” about MCU Spider-Man are trash. They’re flat-out wrong, like how MCU Peter didn’t receive any consequences until No Way Home. Anyone who has actually watched these movies should know that MCU Spidey has received consequences before, like his crush, Liz Allen, moving away, and that Far From Home post-credit scene. As someone who’s read the comics, MCU Spider-Man has been an accurate representation of the character, because of the Lee-Ditko era in the comics. And most likely, they’ll be taking MCU Spider-Man down the Lee-Romita era. Mark my words: MCU Spider-Man and the Home trilogy will get the respect they deserve in the Internet world. Spider-Man 3 went from being hated to loved, the TASM movies went from being hated to loved, and the Star Wars prequel trilogy went from being hated to loved. The Home trilogy already has plenty of respect from people in the real world because of their box office numbers, especially Far From Home, which became the highest grossing Spider-Man movie before No Way Home’s existence. This just shows that Internet opinions are not the be-all-end-all, and they’re not facts. Opinions are not facts, not even popular ones.

Sonic wasn’t cool in this show at all. He would always land on his face while others characters would land on their feet. As for Shadow, I thought he was great in the show. I’ve always felt that Shadow should be more of a
Vegeta type character and he definitely comes across that way. I was most disappointed with Nine though. You’re telling me that a Tails that grew up without Sonic basically becomes the same character? Wasn’t a fan of Nine/Tails’s voice either. He sounded like a 25 year old lesbian. Sonic’s voice was great most of the time, but anytime Sonic went flying through the air, D Mack was doing way too much. Ultimately, I just wanted to see Sonic and Friends™️ interact and go on an epic adventure. Unfortunately all of his friends were only in the first episode. Expect Shadows of course. Idk the show wasn’t terrible it just wasn’t as good as I expected.

THANK YOU! First the critique, Then the suggestions. Sonic Prime is classic "true believer modernist" in its story telling. Tell me you don't have a lot of story without telling me you don't have a lot of story. How you ask? By making the gimmick of the show annoying instead of entertaining. I get it's supposed to be about disharmony in a group 🙄, but the MANY instances where Sonic has to RE-explain himself to the alternate versions of his friends why he dissappears slows the story DOWN too much. The resulting frustration he gets into DOESN'T make me root for him, it makes me feel like the writers were padding his dialog!
What's that? I'm on to something? Quick writing team! Chaos Council button! Chaos Council button!
    Which one?
    Deploy "Iron Baby"! 😈
I couldn't make it all the way to the finale. And then to find out they ended the show by turning the one character Sonic had ANY regular contact with into the bad guy? Sigh...IMHO, some of what could have made the show's concept land better with ME was if the alternate versions of his friends SHARED memories of Sonic's intervention with eachother to go with this ending. Would have made Nine's change of heart more believable too. A sort of "good guy" version of the Chaos Council. Now the Astral celestial projections of Sonic's friends "DO something ELSE" besides annoy the viewer by guilt tripping Sonic! Now Sonic can work TOWARDS getting the dopples to work WITH him, not against him. The worst misses for ME are the missed opportunities. Did I mention how PUNCHABLE I find Dr. Babbles face? ^_^

I also liked it the series itself And most of the things dude said can be explained by the simple fact that Sonic and nine aren't that mature for a big dialogue about their intentions.
I liked the animation style in general and the characters' voices and there are also great references in the game series. I think the original Sonic just lacked a little more personality And further reference other places besides green hill like sonic frontiers did. I also enjoyed seeing that Sonic learned things throughout the story and I hope to see him like this in the next shows and games
The ending was good, I just think the fight was too big and that's why the ending was tight with Nine's quick redemption and the absence of character variants in the last few minutes, However, this opens up opportunities for a new series or something new to explore what happened to them, perhaps showing that each universe is still living its own life but it's not necessary reconnect them so early.
      It's probably 8.5/10

I stand somewhere in the middle with this opinion. I agree they used far too much filler in a lot of areas. But I wasn't super concerned with them showing the original cast, though that wouldn't have been a bad idea. I think the point of showing us different iterations of these characters, was to show us different angles of the characters we already know and love. I think they did a pretty phenominal job with Amy, Nine and Sonic. But unfortunately a lot of the other characters didn't hit as strong. Tail's other iterations, knuckles, and Rouge all sorta had a weaker approach that I felt could have been way stronger if they had more screentime. The freedom fighters gave us a very interesting look at Rouge's and Knuckles relationship and how well the two work together. I think that could have been highlighted more. I also think they intended to use shadow to foil sonic as well. Which in a lot of ways, made this one of the best Shadow iterations we have seen in a long time, however, the lack of screentime for him, gave him very little room to grow. I wish they would have explained why the chaos emeralds seem to have stopped existing after the paradox prism fiassco. The overall ending felt very underwhelming and I was dissappointed with another cop out ending of "oh it didnt happen". Despite this, the journey was still alot of fun and to say that it was weaker than any of the other sonic stuff we got is a far stretch. Neither the movies, nor sonic frontiers gave us this much depth into the characters. I enjoyed Sonic X, and Sonic underground back in the day. But i think this takes the cake as the best sonic television show we have gotten in a long time. Despite the stretch of filler towards the last 3 episodes, most of the fight scenes were great! I loved how it felt like an actual playthrough of a game. The animation and voice acting of these characters were spot on and I loved that Sonic wasn't a typical Gary stu. and Tail's has to be one of the scariest villains sonic has ever faced. He understood all of Sonic's weakness intamitely. And it took Sonic using the very thing Nine gifted him, as a way to defeat him. It had a lot of potential, unfortuntately it seems like the writers were probably also unsure of how they wanted to end the show.

    1. The pacing really was the biggest problem for the show. The water world (No Place) legitimately made me want to blow my brains out every time it reared its ugly head. The pirate theme was fun for all of 10 minutes and then it was just torture
    2. I could have forgiven the show for its issues ,and I will say that overall it IS actually quite good, if it wasn't for that ending.
Just WHY? The show was over and Sonic and Shadow got their seemingly happy ending, so why in the last 40 seconds do they pull the rug out from under us, implying that there's more to come when this is *supposed* to be the end. I get the whole "And the adventure continues" trope. But then why show what looks like the Prism shattering instead of just the big looming shadow we see at the end. It kind of makes the plot up until this point seem meaningless.
I really hope they plan to do a sequel series or smth, cause if not then this show drops from a solid 7-8/10 to a 5/10 for denying us a satisfying conclusion at the last possible second.

    • @zewzit
      @zewzit 4 месяца назад +1

About 1, I kinda liked the pirate theme as it was happening, the problem was that everything that happened in it was never useful afterwards. I mean.. look at the recap at the beggining of season 3 episode 1! There's not a SINGLE scene of the No Place plotline lmao, it was not useful for the story at all. The forest world at least had an OP Amy, the bird became the source for a lot of robots, and in the final battle team forest at least tried to sneak on Nine but failed (what a let down that was but oh well).
But speaking of that last point, wasn't the whole inital plan in that final fight that the forest guys would sneak from one side and the pirate team from the other?? We never see the pirate team flanking, and I laughed hard when even the show forgot about most of the crew on a sinking ship while the world was ending. The only thing that was inpactful from No Place was Black Rose helping Rusty have a change of heart, but then Rusty was the useful one lol. Dread just completely fell flat, did nothing the whole time then became good at the end.. sigh... we could say the water world went.. down the drain. No Place went.. no where?
Now that I think of it, there was also such a good tease when Sonic saw the loopty-loop underwater. I thought they were going to find why the world was underwater, drain that world a bit, cull the forest in the forest world a bit etc, basically fix them all a bit with Sonic's help, but nah lol.
2 I agree completely. Just show us them having a picnic at the end for a happy ending. Show the other shatterverses if they still exist, or have a slightly sad tone by Sonic saying he now understood Nine because the other spaces ceased to exist when Green Hill was restored. And if you want a "And the adventure continues" trope, just show OG Eggman attacking them, and Sonic being like "oh classic Eggman eheh, let's go again *End.* " Not a misterious shadow that looks like the Mothership
I would like a season 4 to wrap up these thing that didn't need to be wrapped up, but this probably will end up unanswered, just like a certain Underground show of Sonic

some of my biggest problems besides the writing itself is I personally didn't like the cliffhangers because they would release the whole season at once so there was no excitement for the next episode because you could binge it and I think shadow constantly just being thrown in without much thought besides being the sensible straight man was dumb he should've stayed a lot longer since he seemed to be thrown in just for fan service but he actually had a good dynamic with sonic because the writing made sonic a lot more flawed and the two characters keeping me engaged was shadow and nine since I liked the relationship they had with sonic in the show but it's a really big shame sonic didn't explore what happened to the shatterverse and I was expecting a few second clips during the end showing that the worlds still exist but it's just going back to the norm and we're left in the dark of what happened despite it being the central conflict between sonic and nine that we wouldn't know what would happen to nine and the rest of the shatterverse

the only interactions we saw with other characters was the amy’s and tails’. they created a bond and worked together. the knuckles’ and rouge’s barely interacted with each other. we saw lots of development with rusty, but there was just a small scene with black rose and dread and suddenly he’s changed. at least there was a whole backstory for thorn, but what about the others? they all mostly interacted with the people from their shatterspace and them only. we also must talk about shadow. shadow just was kinda there and never interacted with anyone. he just kinda assisted sonic when needed and tried to steer him in the right direction. he never made bonds with anyone. not rouge, who he’s on team dark with, not tails, not amy, not even knuckles. there could have been so much more, but there wasn’t. also, we are stuck wondering what happened now that sonic is gone. did the amy’s all live together as “sisters” or did the go back to their respective worlds? and what’s the random blue explosion?

The book-end at the finale where Sonic makes a different decision should have been the half-way point of the show, and he should have made the right decision as he did. In doing so it should have allowed the 2nd half to be entirely about one Eggman fighting this Sonic that has been through a ton of trials and tribulations to get to where he is. I would have done a set-up where Shadow teleports with the Paradox Prism to Eggman's Location to set-up a conflict between Super Sonic and Super Shadow (How did Shadow get that Emerald out of the "Void" A place that is set-up but never explained or explored) The idea being that Eggman tricks Shadow into fighting Sonic by basically Shadow accidentally spilling the beans to Eggman that Sonic AND Him are the only 2 who remember the "Shatterverse" You do a bunch of things exploring different places with Eggman Resurrecting Perfect Chaos (Good little arc for Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, Possibly Tikal?) And trying to finish The Biolizard (This would be good for a sort of call-back to Cannons core but swap out Eggman for Amy) And have Shadow get defeated by the Biolizard, only for Shadow to realize that 2 Ultimate Life Forms cannot defeat each other alone. (No ARK or anything to do with Maria) And you set up a Pre-Finale where Sonic, Shadow, Amy, Rouge, Tails, and Knuckles defeat the Biolizard. Eggman then tries to make Haste with the Emerald (add some mini-plots in between about gathering up emeralds, possibly from Perfect Chaos) and the show ends with Super Versions of all the Characters fighting a Paradox Prism Powered Eggman, at which point they figure out how to beat him without shattering the prism (Using things Sonic learned in his time in the first half in the Shatterverses)

I think it could have been cut to about 200 minutes as some of the repetition was okay as long as it didn't keep happening to the point of worn out. If I take the Nostalgic glasses off I would say this objectively is better than Underground and Adventures of. And my 7 year old would agree on that

overall i have a complicated love/hate relationship with this show because its full of highs and lows
probably what i am going to say is a hot take but the first "season" of the show is my favorite ... if i could rewrite the show i would change nothing about the first season, the rest of the show is where my problems start
my only problem with the first season is the huge amount of flashbacks to the previous episodes , i know people hate sonics personality in this show but i as a person who doesnt like sonic as a character ( i love sonics friends from the games and other media but sonic himself weirdly enough is not even in my top 20 favorite sonic characters , probably because i dont like flat characters ) am totally fine with it , prime sonic is an idiot but he is funny and i love his arc of becoming a better version of himself , the voice acting and the animations are better that the previous sonic shows and i am one of the few people who still loves the concept of multiverse , i would still love to see sonic have shows like marvels what if and movies like spiderverse ( yes i know the sonic villains fan film is in development ) , and i dont mind the shows childishness because even a childish show can have a good story, just the existence of characters like Nine and Rusty Rose makes me love this show
but most of my praises of this show is for its first season , the rest of the show is gimmicky and repetitive , it feels like a 12 episode show but it has so much padding that the length of the show has doubled , season 2 could be wrapped up in 3 or 4 episodes but they kept losing and getting the shards again and again , season 2 could end in only 3 or 4 episodes but Nine kept rebuilding his army, most people would say the show had to be shorter but i say instead of the monster of the week formula and random unneeded conflicts , they should have instead explored the characters and their backstories more and they shouldnt have been afraid of showing more emotions , sonic and nine could have collected all the shards much faster and then we could have some prequel episodes for the likes of Nine and Rusty Rose , they could have made Nine a more tragic character , they could show more of him being bullied , we could see more of Nine trying to be part of a society but people would consider him a freak of nature that should have never existed , we could see that Nine had no other choice than seperating himself from his world , people could see he has a reason to be like how he is , we could have seen once those bullies almost beat him to death and that would be his reason of creating those mechanical tails , imagine he just created those for self defense but the bullies would break into his place to beat him again but this time nine would use his mechanical tails to kill those 2 red foxes who turned nines life into a hell ( of course they can not show it directly and they would not use the words like kill and death ) maybe we could have seen more characters in the show imagine we could have a version of cream the rabbit who would be the only person before sonic to show kindness to nine and she would tragicly die or something , we could have explored more of Rusty Rose , we could have seen Rusty used to be someone similar to our Amy but maybe one day an explosion burnt her so bad that only a few parts of her body was left of her and the chaos council robotocised her to turn her into their murder machine , imagine it was an arc that lasted for the entire show and they would do something like the "Mecha Sally" arc of Archie sonic comics , imagine sonic would be seriously heartbroken by seeing amy in that situation and he would do all he could to bring her back , imagine we could have something similar to Amy and Shadows moment and the end of Sonic Adventure 2 but with reversed roles , this time Shadow would be the one to finally make Amy remember who she used to be , imagine Rusty would be one of the main factors of defeating Nine but at the end she would be seriously damaged and she would open her chest and set that bird free and she would die with tears in her organic eyes and we could see the reflection of the bird flying free in her eye
they could have done two ways of a better ending for the show :
    1. they could turn nine into a tragic monster ( something like the "Where Was My Hero" sonic fan comic ) , we could have seen Nine go through such a hell of a life that she would go mad and destroy the chaos council and try to conquer the shatterverse and maybe Nine killed Sails and Mangee for real ( and some other characters ) and that would force sonic to finally kill Nine .
    2. they could have done the same thing as they did in the show but better , instead of Nines army getting destroyed and rebuilt all the time they would have actually defeated sonics army and sonic and nine instead of just using shields and projectiles they would have actually had a cool hand to hand combat , we could see Nine be the most badass fighter ever and he could have actually defeated sonic but just the moment Nine wants to go for the kill he would somehow remember some of his memories of sonic from the original timeline or he would see Creams ghost or something and that would make Nine to stop the fight and burst into tears and sonic would comfort him and say "i am here for you , i know you had a hard life but know that no matter what i will always be there for you" or something like that or the original Tails would somehow come back and Tails would be the person to change Nines mind with his kind words. then we could have seen the aftermath , we could see the original version of sonics friends would interact with their shatterverse counterparts , we could have seen Nine becoming a good person and he would help the people of his dimention to rebuilt , now that the chaos council are gone , Nine would be one of the main factors to restore their world back into the beautiful place that it used to be and that would have been how people would stop calling him a freak and would actually start liking him and accept him as part of their society and Nine would finally find happiness and sonic and tails would check on him from time to time and Nine would become one of sonics greatest allies who would sometimes come from his dimension to sonics dimension to help.
as you can see we could have gotten a masterpiece but instead we got a meh animated series , but despite all this dissappointment , i still can hate this show because when it is good , it is really good and when you compare this show to other animations of nowadays you will realize it could be much much worse .

Honestly shadow was rhe most boring part. Can tell Sega was going “no no no! Don’t do that!” finger wag.
The chaos council was really bad too. Eggman I really missed. Brian Drummond did his best but damn…he’s no Mike Pollock,
Prime being canon to the games was a mistake. Didn’t like it. It didn’t even have to be canon, it could have just been its own thing.
The story just felt so the same in the whole three seasons. Can tell they were so going “no! Don’t develop this character! No! Sonic can’t be anything else but arrogant and quirky”
Also Ian Helm? So much better than Kirk Thornton playing “Count Shadow”

Oh boy, looks like all this "everything is canon" stuff is garbage. It's just Sega making cute references to comics, old comics, old shows, and unnecessarily getting our hopes up about putting characters and storylines we want in the games.
It's just a weak attempt to boost support with up in an air promise of good stuff to come. I don't think we'll be seeing characters like the Neo Diamond Cutters, the Archie Freedom Fighters, the good Sonic X characters like Cosmo. The fact they initially put these media in separate continuities mwans they had no desire to use them: they just wanted to use the game cast, and even then, they want the MAIN cast, like Sonic, Tails, Knux, Amy, Eggman, and Shadow maybe. They probably have no immediate plans of rehabilitating the others like Blaze, Silver, and even the Chaotix.
I feel so let down. This is supposed to be Sega's Renaissance, and they insist on baby steps.

    • @charlesammi-el7337
      @charlesammi-el7337 2 месяца назад

I agree. Let's be honest that the reason these people want everything to be canonized is simply because they like other media, so much so that there was talk that a crossover between Sonic and the game version would happen in this series and that didn't happen. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sonic is better known for his series than for his games, and the way people who make videos saying that Prime and IDW are canon for games is like it's the "salvation" of the franchise , when in fact "Sonic Frontiers" itself saved the franchise. And I'll say more, even if Sega said that "Sonic Prime" is canonical for the games, I don't believe it, because it's a lie. There are many contradictions in the series, in Sonic's personality and also in the purposes established for the rest of the cast in the games.
