It's so refreshing to hear other players that are actually excited about the game. I personally loved the gameplay reveal and can't wait to see where the story goes, but the negative comments circulating in the internet were making me sad. So I guess I'm here just to send some love ❤
Glad you liked it! I'm very excited and am so looking forward to everyone trying to figure out who the ancient gods are before the game release!
I cannot wait for you to play it especially after that whiplash LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait to play it. Mass Effect Trilogy are my favorite games and Dragon Age games are next. Bioware has always been my favorite rpg developer but they were, in my opinion, a lot better when they were not owned by EA. Enjoyed the video
I'm a gen x gamy - played all rhe DA games and loved all of them in their special way. The story was allways, what it did for me - and I think Vailguard will do it , too.
Going to ignore all the negativity. Older gamer here who played all the previous versions and liked/disliked some things but still loved the games. Looking for some positivity and I found it. Thanks.
Negativity is just the online communities way of protecting themselves.
I've seen people compare the companion focused game to marvel when it's literally a idea ripped from ME2.
Concur. I spend my time, my money on what I want. Ignoring the negative nancys ^_^)
Amen!
Same here.. 40 years old , had a ton of fun with all 3 games.. And this trailer has me excited for Veilguard. Sadly gamers today have become insanely whiny and entitled.. Let's hope for another good Dragon age game
Same! This is a win for Bioware
I felt like I was watching the dragon age movie I’ve always wanted. It’s so beautiful to see what we are going to be getting
It’s so refreshing to hear someone talk about the game in a positive manner. ❤
I’m excited and can’t wait to play the game ☺️
This looked great and I'm so happy to find others who agree. The outrage around this game is utterly stupid. The physics engine looks great and I really loved the gameplay. I need to see more but as it stands, I don't mind giving it a preorder. You can see the passion poured into it and I am here for it.
On another note - I noticed there was some outrage around character diversity which I thought was pretty dumb. I honestly love the uniqueness around the characters and how you can romance any of them. Also I've never seen a Asian elf, she is so pretty!!! Anyways, I'm excited for the game and I can't wait to see more.
I'm just glad we're getting force mage stuff back, I've been watching what devs say very closely and there are deffo gravity magic abilities.
The soundtrack counting down to the reveal ❤
I'm guessing that's going to be the main theme as it's similar if not the same to the trailer from last year
Also the music during Varric and Solas talking sounded very similar to trespasser ending.
I am so so excited for this! The smoothness of the transition from cut scene to live action was beautiful. The world is tangible.
I have been playing Dragon Age since the first game. I loved the previous games along with the romances and storytelling, which is why I play these games. The simple interface is appealing, along with what they say will be a more streamlined story, lacking Inquisition's overwhelming size and numerous fetch quests. Inquisition is huge! This game reminds me of what DA2/Andromeda could have been with more time. It reminds me at times of ME3.
I strongly recommend you play both DA2 and Inquisition in my opinion. It will bring you deeper into the story.
I think from the fanbase angle this game will be received about as well as inquisition. It ain’t origins but it will have replay value and something everyone could enjoy. I for one am here for the lore
Same. Gameplay to me is secondary. Still needs to actually be a game rather than a rail shooter, or a walking sim, or a visual novel but the story is why I play RPGs. It's also why all my DA characters have been mage and or elf as well as why I usually romance merril in DA2. If you are an elven mage or have ties to the elves through an elven mage, the story just hits different. Especially after inquisiton, Hakkon, and Trespasser.
That’s a great point. Inquisition has some of the best replayability.
Story and lore is why I play and I love that they are bringing back background as well from DAO
@@littlemouse7066 sure but from a lore and immersion perspective, I have observed the OG game that does a lot of the heavy lifting usually shines through even the rest of the game is dated. Such things can carry a game while newer entries build on the foundation. I also think BG3 (which I still have yet to play) , as I understand it, reintroduced the tactical more traditional RPG in a way that felt fresh and engaging. It proved there very much was still a market for it and that talking points like the average age of a gamer is around 35 may be more true than not.
Older style of gameplay is still in demand.
they had me in the first half this week ngl
This absolutely blew me away and yes i feel bioware is back this is day one for me and i will do everythijg i need to support this team and help them succeed going forward! Super excited!
I don’t care what the haters say, I’m still going to buy this game for my PS5 and play it throughout the whole Fall, except for Thanksgiving since I’ll be spending it with my Family in Rhode Island.
For the dialogue wheel (been used in past 3 games if you include DATV) its kind of like the top right is the nice guy choice to show ur caring/worried, middle-right is sarcastic/poke fun at, bottom-right is the mean/serious, the middle-left is the emotional/knee jerk choice if present the top-left is usually the romance option as for bottom-left I can’t remember what that’d be maybe the serious/diplomatic choice.
Love it! It seems my best bro Varric won`t survive it:(
FYI, Dragon Age has used the dialogue wheel since DA2.
The biggest problem with Andromeda for me was the poor facial animations which I'm happy to see has been greatly improved for this game. And the cutscenes feel like cutscenes, not just people talking in the same camera angle as the gameplay itself. Most games I play are third-person action adventure or soulslike stuff so I don't really care if there's less strategy in battles. That said I've enjoyed every Bioware game since kotor, excluding Anthem which I didn't play after trying the demo. Didn't have expectations a few weeks ago but now it feels like this might be a day1 purchase for me. 👍🏼
Thank you for being one of the few people not being negative about it... longtime DA fan, and super hyped, you earned a new sub today
I would also like to point out how natural the created character looks with the established characters in the cutscenes, that was very noticeable to me.
Oh my gosh a positive and excited viewpoint on the internet?! I'm absolutely subscribing to this channel, what a breath of fresh air
I’m excited to play this game
Best part is when they collapse some scaffolding on Solas's head and save world.Ahh i wish we could have done same thing in Mass Effect instead of that lengthy campaign..;)
The dialogue wheel is almost identical to Inquisition
As someone who has long considered the Mass Effect Trilogy to be my ultimate gaming experience (perhaps like yourself), I'm thrilled at what I saw in the gameplay reveal, I was worried when I saw the trailer, but I'm not worried now. I agree with you, I really liked what they showed, with the small caveat that to me, the faces do have a bit of a "uncanny valley" effect.. but, as long as the rest of the game is the quality we saw in this reveal, I can look past that. Thankfully, they've sorted out the animations with the Frostbite engine, you ofc know how Andromeda was. Now, all we need is specific release date. :)
Omg finally a positive review you just earned a sub ma’am as a big fan of dragon age i had chills watching the trailer and im so ready for the fall to pllay this game it looks so good
I NEED to see mage combat with this new combat system.
yeah, me too. i can not imagine how horrible it could be. Still, i want to know what to expect.
i know u said u were new to DA, so the dialogue wheel has been around since DA2. once u play DAI, lots of this gameplay trailer will look very reminiscent of Inquisition. i think it looks great and am super excited for the game!
Oh cool! Looking forward to starting DA2 soon. :)
@@paragonseven I hope you enjoy DA2! It's my favorite of the series :D Do you plan to make any reaction videos as you play?
@@AndreaP_N7 I don't think so (just for time reasons lol), but I usually post my thoughts on the games I'm playing over on the Twitter machine. :3
@@paragonseven Awesome. I'll go check that out 😁
This for some reason this visual look feels for a sci-fi, things glow in a techy shine, the lighting looks like an Batman Arkham game. Hope they don't scare some of the fans away, they have been using a whole different gameplay type for decades. Like as you said this more to get younger players, for new people who have not tried this series.
Hopefully, this new game will be better to understand the lore, Inquisition(only played a bit for the size of the game, I think I was playing backwards) seemed to have a lot to tell you without meaning anything, before having even more clutter, then you would have to remember the which pieces go together.
I am looking forwards to you getting to DA2 on your play though. The combat change between Origins and it, is crazy. The backlash we've seen from this was the same we saw with DA2. (I'm so excited for this full-on action combat, it feels like you're in Thedas, not just looking at it. I love it!)
I love how this game is looking. I can't wait to romance Harding and Tash.
and people would keep hating because they have nothing to hate, i just hope you can play as necromancer or better yet a BLOOD MAGE!
maybe hes a buddy of cassandras uncle :D.
@@littlemouse7066ok so you are doing the same thing. Ironic but funny and cyberpunk isn’t a bad game by any means you just don’t like it beva it’s more popular?
It's basically the sequel to Kingdoms of Amalur that we never got, and I'm here for it.
I was just kind of generally pleased with the gameplay reveal but the part where Rook knocked an enemy off the map and it looked intentional had me popping so hard, I hope it wasn't just like a set piece for the trailer. It really is feeling like Dragon Age 2 2 because it has such a different look and the gameplay has changed so much (as well as the devs saying over and over that it's more about the companions and their struggles together) and DA2 is honestly probably my favorite game in the series (before anyone guffaws, I freely admit it has massive issues)
I was hoping the trapped Gods would make an appearance as I know they are out for Solas' blood. I wondered how he would navigate that and hope we could bring glory with him instead of against him.
I miss my baby....my shiny headed baby.
So Rook's armor colors seems to be purple, if that's the case I hope there's armor dyeing because it's a little to much.
The gameplay looks both fresh and unique to the Dragon Age series.
Whoever tought that they would use the old ass combat system is crazy,a game like that would sell INSANELY less.
Yes, because Baldurs Gate 3 totally didn't sell over 10 million copied with a similar combat system. Which is far higher than any Dragon Age game managed
@@dominickirwan7436 bg3 and dragon age have different gameplay.
Bg3 is turnbased whilst older dragon age is like an MMO style
@o.d.d.343 I'd say a tactical real-time with pause as in DA:O has far more similarities to turn based than this kind of hogwarts express combat.
I'm all for people who think this looks good thinking what they think, but also think saying that people don't want more complex tactical combat is also a big lie.
I need to see some mage gameplay so bad, all i wanted was better combat than inquisition and they exceeded my expectations im sold
Every time she says Veilguard, I keep thinking of the Valeyard. Maybe I've been watching too much Doctor Who ?
I didn't even know there was a 20 min game play video out there! Thankyou for showing this. The characters look very cool.
Question though, do we choose from these characters to be our main character? Or do we create or control another main character?
I love the environment, the costumes and they did a very good job with Lace Harding. She was one of my favorite characters from the last Dragon Age.
So ok, I can breath. This looks like a BG3 quality game. Can't wait to see more.
Its giving DA2 is terms of reception tbh (Which is m favorite DA game funnily enough)
I'm very much gonna buy the game- cause I like whats being shown: Its Kingdoms of Amalur meets Dragon Age story- how could I not love it lol. XD
As long as they give a satisfying ending to solas' story (and to the whole Solavellan thing) then I'll be happier than a nug in a rug!
I seriously feel like BioWare is about to enter another renaissance era. This game seems like it could be GOTY material if launched properly. Taking all of that momentum into ME5... Man the future is exciting!
We're gonna be eating good for a while!
I agree! I’m glad they (seem to be) coming back to form. It’s exciting.
Lmao.
Thanks for the positive video. I loved what I saw. People are always trying to steal other people’s joy. I can’t wait to play this.
Uh, the dialogue wheel, it's the same than DA: Inquisition
Struggling to feel optimistic about this game. I usually play mage classes because there's more strategy and there's more risk as you're a bit of a glass cannon. I may get some of that with the abilities but I will be missing the deeper tactical play with other characters. I played all the previous games and what's telling is that I can't remember DA2 and Inquisition but I can remember Origins. I'm hoping for a more exciting story with impactful choices.
Very good to hear a positive opinion with all the negativity going around, I never play any of the Dragon Age games, I'm interested in the game because I feel this game needs to be a success for Mass Effect to continue development, I thought the game looked good considering it was made in frostbite, way better than Andromeda turned out on the same engine, I'm Commander Shepard, I should go
Fall is a crazy time for games this year but this one is def gonna be my go to. Really liked what they showed
Ta hell with Origins Atharia, Get Dragon Age: Inquisition - Game of the Year Edition ASAP❕‼❗🤯
You MUST play all of that b4 even looking at TVG.
Could not disagree more, Origins is the reason any of the other games exist. To play tbe others without playing Origins is like skipping the first book in a trilogy. I know it's all subjective, but I think Origins has the best story and companions.
@@Leviathan1494The only things related to the first game are Leliana and Morrigan (Bann Teagan if you’re being generous) so I don’t think it’s necessary. I’m currently replaying it.
I like playing series in order. :3 Definitely looking forward to DAI though!
@@ThatFont I meant more from a historical aspect than a narrative one. Just feels like the Origins does so much for the setting and world even if the events are separate from Veilguard.
@@paragonseven just want you to get into the latest version because its on a whole nother lv as far as size, scope & re-playability, Graphics etc.. Much like ME:Andromeda it will feel very familiar as they both use Frostbite etc. 😉
I played Origins when it was first released 👴 so its quite ancient to me lol. I Think you'll really enjoy DA:I because its more like your OBSESSION(ME) is all Atharia, why I feel you should get right onto it lol am not dismissing the earlier games just Excited to see what you'll think of the newest more ME like DA B4 DA:Dreadw...The Veilguard comes out...
I’m placing my bets on GOTY this looks so good already!
It was fine, but I expected more actual gameplay, not just cutscenes and fighting. Other mechanics deserved the spotlight as well
but this is it. This is what this game going to be. You have corridor locations, as it was in DA2, you have this... combat parody and dialogues between combats. Besides that you will probably have trading spots to change stats of your wearpon, and an alchemy bar where you can select a few potions ( probably 3 - heal, energy booster for you skills and some sort of potion which encreese your damage) and make a love scenes. That's it. this is what this game about.
People love to be vocal but I'm also not a fan of the artstyle at all. The combat seemed very action loaded, not tactical, especially because the enemies were just standing there.
I'm curious how it plays out, I'm not sceptical for the sake of being sceptical, I want it to succeed and for people to enjoy it but it failed to excite me personally, hopefully they'll prove me wrong.
@@littlemouse7066 So go touch grass and don't let people affect you so much. People are allowed to voice whatever they want, you have the mentality of a child.
@@littlemouse7066 sooo... I'm not allowed to voice my opinion?
@@littlemouse7066I’m with you. People are wasting a lot of time hating on something they probably never even played. The criticisms don’t even make sense half of the time, they just parrot/amplify minor complaints from real fans.
I like it so far🤘
As a huge bioware fan going back to the studio's origins, I am so happy they are returning to their roots and delivering rpg greatness!
this game looks amazing! my only concern is the action RPG nature. its probably the right move, its just not my preferred option. I like a more tactical combat. who am I kidding, I know im going to get it anyway lol.
The only thing I didn't like is the design of the demons, they didn't evoke a sense of danger and weren't at all scary, also looked pretty much the same with different colors, pretty much uninspired... Other then that it looks amazing! Can't wait to get lost in this world again.
To be honest I think I'm the only one which actually liked the reveal trailer, why? Because I majorly "understood" what they wanted to convene through it, they wanted to show us the character's in a cool manner which I actually liked. Davrin looks super interesting with his Griffon, Lucanis probably an Antivan Crow will make me go bonkers if he's as good as Zevran, the Veil Jumper girl which I don't remember the name of is actually an incredibly cool concept if they do it right and explain the "Veil Jumping" properly, the Qunari or Tal Vasoth Dragon Slayer gonna probably be like Iron Bull so I don't really mind. And this gameplay just strikes every single spot I wanted it to strike, gameplay looks fresh better than Inquisition actually enjoyable, story has potential, the overall feeling of the world looks like a mix of DAI and DAO which I'm in for, companions gonna be like in Mass Effect like that's just amazing because I prefer Mass Effect's companions to Dragon Age. Plus the biggest thing, "factions" they gonna be like origins, I'm going Grey Warden all out I don't care that's the best faction in game and I didn't even play the game
In good Dragon Age tradition, it looks and plays nothnig like its predecessors. :D
So they're staying authentic and improving. Good. 😉
“I don’t even know if he has eyebrows” LOL that’s so funny because the moment he turned around I immediately thought “WOAH! Those are TWICE the size of your Inquisition brows.”
But that’s very fun that he’s so completely egghead in your mind.
the pros to this trailer are the game graphically looks good and the characters looks better than what we saw at the xbox showcase I do like the dark atmosphere. I also like they are bringing back the origin's backstories into this. The cons however the gameplay I do not want it to be an action rpg I want it to be a tactical rpg baldur's gate 3 proved that people want that especially dragon age fans. they want dragon age veil guard to be more like BG3 than mass effect. I also don't like they took away the ability to control your companions and lastly my last con is the abilityy wheel it is taking up too much of the screen. Overall, this sold me on the game
I don’t know what it is, but this game feels off might be the art style, but I’m not 100% on it and it really has me concerned for the future of Bioware if this game ends up failing the game doesn’t look bad, but it doesn’t look good either. I don’t know. Gotta see a bit more.
Im a never Da fan whose first game was Inqusition wich i properley played and finished for the first time in 2023 and could never really get into Origins and 2 despite the great narrative in those games.
Im really diging the combat system of Veilgaurd, since i played Inqusiotion i have a connection with Solas and Varrick so their conversation near the end of the demo hit really hard for me, Solas is an amazing antagonist so i cant wait to see where his story goes in Veilgaurd
The action RPG gameplay has been so since DA2, when ARPG was THE thing at that period (GoW, AC, etc.) and EA wanted to shift from DAO's CRPG to a more trending (profitable) ARPG. I wouldn't say ARPG is "in", but more that it's the modern standard. So newer/younger audience will definitely prefer it. The dialogue wheel is quintessential Bioware, so of course it's present in their RPGs (ME, DA, KotOR). The chained (combo?) abilities were there since DA2 as well.
Look, you don't deserve the haters, and I hope they don't scare you away from the awesome world that is Dragon Age. Most of the hate is coming from old gamers (like me) who saw how Bioware was actually like back in the day and this new DAV is definitely not a "Bioware is so back" situation. DAV can't stand on just good combat, seamless gameplay, or nice graphics. It needs to carry, deliver, and close the story satisfyingly. As long as the story of Thedas is prevalent and not whatever agenda they want to shove down our throats. This game will either float Bioware above the waterline, or will sink it with a shot to the head by EA.
We wait and don't pre-order.
Dragon Age doesn't look like dragon age since Dragon Age 2 release and we must get it and move on
Eh I am not that hopeful after seeing even more just hack and slash rpg style fighting, and without being able to control party members and how goofy things like the demons looked I feel like it has just lost its soul.
Going to wait after release to get more details before i see if I want to buy
It’s better than inquisition actually imo
It's wild to see people still complaining about this game. Something tells me they aren't even Dragon Age fans and hating this is just the new thing for gaming twitter to rag on.
Most of the complaints are coming from self-described 'fans' who haven't played a Dragon Age game since Origins.
@@nnez9009 , no. It's the art style that's the issue. People are hyperbolic, yes, but (and I've played all three MULTIPLE times), I really, really do not like the art style for the series. It's beautiful, but not appropriate, the same way a crown is beautiful, but maybe not appropriate to wear at a supermarket.
Do you realise that you can't even control your party members anymore?
@nnez9009 Agreed. The amount that don't even seem to know about Minrathous, and then complain about it looking magical is effing hilarious.
It's like someone who watches one movie of LOTR acting like they know more than those who've seen them all and read all the books. 🧐
@Leomerya12 this is fair criticism! I personally think that more than the art style, the issue is a matter of the skin textures being... well, non existent. Inquisition also had a different art direction to the previous games (keypoint: how the elves were presented in each game), but the complexions made it seem more "realistic". Even with everyone being oily up 24/7.
Really hoping they polish that before release. If not, hopefully some charitable soul has our backs on the nexus.
As long as it has exploration and cool gear and spells. Please don’t be on rails and less than 20 hours in game length.
This game is getting massive hate from politics and the bad marketing trailer. I'm personally excited for Veilguard after seeing the gameplay reveal trailer. It looks like an improved version of inquisition. I'm just hoping they implement a bit more gore. Overall, I'm just as excited for this, just as I was with BG3 last year.
As far as I have understood, they turned down (or off) the gore in the game settings, because this is supposed to be a (kind of) all ages RUclips video. Tho keep is all age friendly they had to tone down things.
haha "Icon kinda saying, If you choose this dialogue option, that's the route you'll take..." Uh-huh..... Can't wait for you to shout at the monitor, "That's not what I said!!!??" after your Rook pops off and the screen bubble fades in: * Greatly Disapproves* haha
My criticism is more gore blood and finishers. I loved the music the biome is pretty but frostbite has never struggled with that I belive the speech and lip synch need to be improved and the hair especially on that one women that was in the spotlight her hair was glitching and twitching everything else looked OK I'd rate at 7.5 a weak one. For me if they had developed this in any engine but frostbite then yeah it would definitely be higher, Mass effect 5 needs to be on unreal not frostbite
Blood was turned off for youtube.. It's been an option im every DA game before
Hopefully
You absolutely HAVE to play Inquisition! The story & characters are incredible.
Well as a dragon age fan getting rid of the tactics in combat was a bad idea😐
I've beaten all three game on Nightmare with every class and i barely used the tactical camera. Having it is nice but removing it isnt some major dealbreaker honestly
@@simonbaribeau4853 Completely agree. After Origins I have not even used it. Pausing down (holding the space key on the PC) was enough for me in DA 2 for example.
It seems like everyone even slightly positive about the game is getting dislike bombed. People are being so weird about all this.
Its the Bioware/EA hate train.. There's a 99% they didnt even watch the video. They just dislike everything related to Veilguard
I'll never forgive Bioware for the death of Bianca!!!!!
I'm very on the fence. Every game changes things up, but this is a massive departure from the gameplay seen in previous games. It's more of an action RPG.
I'm not saying that it won't be good. I'm just also really not convinced that it will be.
Your comment about them doing this cause "its just in right now" is one of the reasons to reject this. Doing 'what's in' muddles the identity of the game and I'd say (like many others) that BG3's success shows that, no, action-rpg's aren't all that's just in right now. Games that lose their defining identity often fade into obscurity, we have so few remaining companies in the AAA market that make proper rpg's anymore. action is all about moving and the intensity of the combat but in a game about a beautiful world and story with amazing abilities and creatures both beautiful and horrifying...why would you design that game to move fast, rather than lean into taking your time to see the world, design your abilities to be distinct and visible. I get that I'm an old gamer now that I've reach my 30's but that's how I see it.
I get people want DAO vibes. And I hope they can be satisfied. But you can't please everyone.
BioWare’s still got it! So hopeful for DA and ME moving forward
If you enjoyed the gameplay reveal stay off SM & the YT comments.
I swear I'm sick of people being unnecessarily negative like they want BW to shutdown...👀
A lot of them are Playstation Pony's that are mad their show was very bleak compared to the Xbox presentation, and looking for something to bash. DA will come out relatively soon, and thus is a perfect target...
@@jclosed2516 That's a reach. DA is coming to PS along with most of the games shown.
So why would they bash a game they can play on their preferred platform?
@@HoYuPhat They where looking for a easy target because the Xbox showcase was scoring high compared to the PS showcase. No matter this game is also playable on the PS. It's just a easy target, because of the negativity. Don't underestimate those guy's. They would even chop off their left hand if it was able to hurt the all other consoles than their own. As a PC gamer I am often completely baffled by their tribalism, and how far they will go to hurt the "other side". So - I am prepared to see the most weird things from those guy's.
@jclosed2516 There are toxic fanboys on EVERY platform PC included.
I'm a PS fan but I'm not toxic.
Not saying you haven't seen toxic PS fans tearing down the game but it's a stretch to say MOST of the negativity comes from a small faction of a very large base.
In fact, most of the negativity I've seen is from hardcore DA fans.
They're upset about the combat, character models, having ONE less party member, no tactical camera, no GORGEOUS romance character.
Yes. That last one was SERIOUSLY a complaint. The guy said he'd begrudgingly romance scout Harding but there's no head-turner type of character.
It's ridiculous...
@@HoYuPhat Don't take it personally. I was talking about those fanatics that even went ballistic when they heard that their "exclusives" would be ported to the PC.
You made some valid points here. Some people just cannot stomach that a game has progression, and they want "everything new, but everything the same". I personally see the new game play as a continuation of the progression that has already have taken place since DA 2.
I certainly going to play this new Dragon Age. Even while I am a player since Origins was released, I am not clinging to the old game play with all my might. I am not that conservative, and I love this new direction the game is heading into.
I liked it, but there were some things that didn't sit right with me.
The gameplay seemed like the enemies hyper focused on the player and ignored the teammates for the most part. It seemed janky and didn't have much impact. Plus, the combat engagments are so small. No wonder they got rid of the 3rd companion. The battles would be over so quickly since you're only fighting like 4 people at a time.
The demons look worse or at least less inspired compared to the past games.
Enemies don't seem lootable, which makes me think it's more like mass effect where you get money at the end of the mission or something.
The dialog was weird and cheesy. I think with the concerns of the writing team for bioware over the past few years we shouldn't see the intro of the game filled with dialog like: "we thought you were captured by the venatori" - "so did the venatori" or "its suicide" - "any other ideas" - "well, then I guess I'm coming with you" this dialog seems too cheesy or shallow for an introduction to a game about the potential end of the world that's meant to immerse the player immediately. This isn't to say dragon age doesn't have humor. It's just that when it's serious, it should stay serious. The humor is to break up the seriousness during the slow periods, not the whole way through. It messes with the suspension of disbelief.
Stuff seems too predictable. In DAI, I didn't think we would have the antagonist we did, or in DAO, I didn't think the story would go in the direction it did. Yet with this intro, I could predict everything that happened. That worries me.
I'm a massive dragon age fan, it's one of my most played series. I want this game to be good but the super fans crushing any criticism online are just going to create an even bigger divide in the fan base.
I say let the criticism spread, bioware is good with criticism, look at mass effect 3.
I've found stepping to the side and buying a game at least a year after initial release (on sale) is the way to go. I've never been disappointed since.
I personally do NOT like the art style. It's beautiful, but inappropriate for the series. However, I acknowledge that the series is no longer the same, so it's probably best for me to view it more as a remake/reboot than an original project.
Putting my own two cents in here, I'm worried about the Dialogue Wheel. I feel like it doesn't show up enough and most of Rook's dialogue is done without the player's input which is not something I like in most RPGs and most notably BioWare games. The more control I have over my character the happier I am and this seems to be more like how the PC was handled in Mass Effect 3, Andromeda and Anthem.
Also, not a fan of the name Rook, it just seems compared to other DA Protagonists. Also the name sounds more masculine and I like to play games as a woman and that just bugs me.
Other then that this does look good and I think people are overreacting thanks to the trailer. I mean I've seen a ton of videos and comments saying how they're worried about DAV and that BioWare truly has lost it's touch and that the series is now to comedic and I'm like did anyone here PLAY the other games, Dragon Age is not the most serious series ever made.
And one needs look no further then Origins which has things like Sten being obsessed with Cookies, Leliana's obsession with shoes and nugs, Morrigan telling Leliana to stop looking at her breasts, Barkspawn being is adorable puppy self and the living embodiment embarrassment and what was the Maker smoking when he created you otherwise known as Oghren.
I want someone to quote the comments on this game about how it's to silly for Dragon Age and then show a montage of all the other games least serious and over the top moments and then see them try and justify it.
doesn't look like Dragon Age, that first glimpse of gameplay was hugely disappointing. This is clearly made for a "Wider Audience" than the RPG's original series buyers.
God forbid Bioware/EA are trying to sell more copies than what Origins sold eh..
I take it you haven't played a Dragon Age game since 2009?
I thought it was kind of generic, the story was interesting from what they showed. Wasn't impressed with the combat, it reminded me of something else, just can't put my finger on it at the moment. It does seem to be more adult, unlike Andromeda.
Kingdoms of Amalur?
@@ninfreak95 It feels like a more advanced version of DA2. Very 3rd person action oriented, like you would get with a KOA, which I just started another play through😮, How'd you know.🤔
@@ninfreak95 I figured out why that combat looked so familiar, it's almost identical to
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
@@capt_c2725 Uhhhh, okay
this is fantasy masseffect not Dragon age
Honestly I am so disappointed in the reveal for this game, but it's nice to see that there are some folk out there who genuinely seem to be excited for it.
I wish it was a more tactical rpg and I have to massively disagree with your thought that more action style gameplay is what's in right now in light of the massive success of BG3 last year, it seems more like they are going for simplicity for simplicity’s sake.
Ahhhh no. No no no.
So. Much. Unnecessary. Purple. 🤨
Where?
I like purple so keep it coming. 💜
Calling the gameplay reveal "epic" is kind of an overstatement... the combat system is awful and showcasing an all rogue party didn't really do the reveal any favors either. Not to mention the characters looked like they were all using the air brush filter
bruh... you are literally level 1 in this reveal...
@@eodyn7 the level has nothing to do with the combat being a hack and slash. Maybe if they didn't use an all rogue party it wouldn't feel like that as much, illiterate buffoon
girl?
I respect your opinion but this game is going to be a disaster 100% no chance this is good
100% disagree...
@@jclosed2516 just wanna have you played origins da2 or Inquisition?
@@aloevera7835 I don't exactly know what you are asking, but I played all Dragon Age games from Origin, from the very moment it was released, to Inquisition. And all games in both unmodded and modded versions.
And I am sure this game will do very well. Do not forget Inquisition got a lot of backlash, but ended up as one of the best selling games of Bioware.
@@jclosed2516 inquisition only got backlash from ign noone else and nobody cares about ign this game got backlash from most of the community who actually played this franchise and it is a clown show
