Al, great job on the house. I like what I see and with current advances in Composite Panel Construction I'm sure Net Zero Buildings can be common place. Insulating the basement floor is a must in colder climates and should not be omitted.

I bought a Radon detection kit at Home Depot years ago when we bought this house. It tested "no gas" but if I was building a new house, I'd ventilate the slab/foundation as he has too. I like the heat recovery ventilator, I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate one in the low desert, where Air conditioning is our main energy use. Passive design vents hot air out of the building through roof vents but incoming air is 120 F. How to remove some of that heat before letting the air into the conditioned space?

    Couple questions on the Form-a-Drain.
How can a level footing, drain away any moisture? The drainage layer should always be below the footing, not above it. Doesn't make much sense to me.
The only way I could see it drain away any moisture is if you have 6+ inches of water at one end of the footing. But by that time its too late.
    Any answers out there?

Hey! Thanks a lot for this helpful video. By the way, I notice many people keep on talking about Xobotano Home Energy (google it), but I'm not sure if it is good. Have you ever tried this alternative home energy called Xobotano Home Energy? I have heard many great things about it.

People have been living in houses for centuries. Not familiar with a house killing any one yet. That is, until phony science creates Henny Penny and Ducky Lucky.

Wow, ever hear of asbestos, radon, mold, CO, VOCs, formaldehyde, etc., etc. Better do your homework before you post.
