  • No, this isn't edited, this isn't muted, or whatever outrageous assumption you can devise. 100% non fiction.
One foggy morning by Oakland/Jack London Square, noticed the northbound Amtrak Capitol Corridor was on the move after its station stop at Jack London, but halfway down the street, not a single sound from the horn. Probably wondering - Engineer having a bad day? Well considering the wave off camera got a horn salute, safe to say he wasn't. Cabcar 8305 (CDTX8305) sounds off its K5LA at the crossings outside of Jack London Square with SC44 Charger 2103 (CDTX2103) shoving at the rear as they continue off to Sacramento.
This rare occurrence is a scary look into the future with the city of Oakland is working on a plan to make Jack London Square a quiet zone officially in the coming years.

Not hearing horns going off in the street running area of JLS feels eerie to me. It’s so unnatural.
Either way thank you for this footage. I’ve been hearing talks about the city possibly wanting a quiet zone, however I’ve never heard of it actually happening.

Well, this is gonna terrify us if *_Jack London Square will be a quiet zone in the future sometime soon._*
Since there are so many buildings next to active tracks, and trains have blown their horns for quite some time, what could go wrong?
It's just *ONE* simple thing! _To avoid the complaints, you just have to go _*_125-300 feet_*_ away from active tracks!_
If I'm wrong, just correct me.
