- We had the pleasure of meeting Tony by Mile end station. He was very friendly, It was obvious he was well known to the locals as everyone walking past would say hi to him. He surprised us by his optimism and his will to succeed in life despite being homeless for such a long time. He told us about his struggles such as his marriage falling apart, the pain of losing his daughter and battling homelessness for the last 20 years.

Homelessness is a growing issue for the UK with more than 300,000 people living on the streets. Many of these people don't even make it onto the official figures.
The Unseen is an organisation we set up to give Homeless people a platform to have their stories and their struggles heard. We also want everyday people to have an opportunity to understand what leads a person into being Homeless. We at the The Unseen believe that everybody has a responsibility to help the unfortunate.
We want employers and regular people to support the homeless towards getting back into work and off the streets.
We hope their stories can touch the hearts of many.
Living on the street is no way to live.

Check out Part 2 where we bump into Tony 3 months later!

God bless you my friend I can tell your a genuine guy and I hope you get sorted soon 🙏
How has he survived that long. Should be an award for endurance
@Dizzy D fair enough. All the best
@Dizzy D unfortunately you are likely to end up on the streets of the UK too. Quite frankly the govt doesn't give a shit about its people
Every human, whether rich or poor should be looked after .
No one should be on the streets,it’s wrong.
It’s should be against the law.
Susan I agree with you so much, sometimes we can't be blinded by our own pain, what doesn't weaken us, makes us stronger, stay strong lovely 👍
Sending you oceans of love and strength my brother❤️

I was homeless for six years with a similar story. I had a nervous breakdown and broke up with my partner. Hate to see this stuff. Speaks to a deeper issue doesn't it if ,he has been homeless 20 years why hasnt the EU been helping with this. Surely the human rights act was in play.
Sorry to hear that. How did you get out of that situation?
@@TheUnseenHomeless a very lovely council worker lady took pity on me. She said she had met me before and had remembered how polite I was to her. I would marry that woman I was so grateful and humbled by her.
Heroes are real! And good character goes a long way. Happy for you.
@@TheUnseenHomeless ironically her second name is Wright. So I always say Wright by name right by nature
@@bencrawshaw1227 awwww thats so sweet
poor man, I hope he finds a home soon and things improve for him
You all talk about them with such love and compassion in these comments, which is great, but I'm sure 90% of you would just walk past like the homeless don't exist. It's tough to engage with them it feels maybe too uncomfortable for some but don't pretend like you'd do anything and everything for them. No offense. The internet is a great place to pretend to be the good Samaritan.

Yes plz do tell him.irish joanne from Limehouse dlr or who started in Sandra's ah so sad seeing him like this
London life is like living in a third world country... why don’t the royal family do something to help the citizens. Kingdom with shame and sorrow.
...the so-called royal-family are far too disconnected from people they wouldn't even know where to start
London and the UK in general is one of the most expensive nations on the planet to live apartments with one bed are around £1500 per month to rent in London food is at least £30 per week for one person running a car costs thousands of pounds public transport is more expensive than it costs to travel first class Concorde per mile when Concorde was flying petrol and diesel is nearly £7 per gallon. Council taxes on property are at least £2000 per year water rates are £2000 per year yet wages haven't risen in ten yrs and the UK workers are the lowest paid in Europe
@@britbazza3568 only in London but if you live in another part of UK the rent is not too bad and the rates.
@@coratheexplorer1824
Sorry but I have compared the rent house prices and rates all over the UK when compared to other European nations then rents house prices and taxes are bloody ridiculously high
Lord Jesus, please have mercy on him.🙏🙏🙏
Any uk government projects to help those homeless in uk back stand up on their feet? like this one?
All nations governments in the world has a great responsibility to do good deeds to their citizens to make their people happy and good citizens
God bless us all forever in a whole world
The UK government doesn't care there are over 18000 homeless on Britain's streets currently
@@britbazza3568
Uk cares about immigrants syrians from syrian war
But never minding and never care of their own uk needy homeless citizens?
Why? Its unfair what happen to the minds of royal family and the prime ministers?
Wheres the 100% literacy of uk that i knew i learned from almanac book? That almanac book said uk has 100% literacy along with japan and germany
Is that a 100% literacy of uk? To never minding their uk homeless citizens? And making a show to the whole world by accepting and taking care of syrian immigrants?
What happened to the new generations leaders of uk? Wheres their i.q.? Do they got an i.q.?
The Syrians and other migrants your on about will only be cared for, for as long as the UK Government see it as a political agenda but in time they will be forgotten too and end up homeless. This is why people need to stop coming here we have enough problems with homelessness in the UK with our own people. We are a small island and can only take so many in out population we are already one of the most populated nations on the European Continental shelf and only a third of the size of the Luke's of France we physically can't take more people without severe suffering on our streets. The last I heard we have 18000 people living on the streets in the UK , what's coming down the line with the biggest recession in 300 years because of Convid19 is only going to compound that problem too their will be thousands of not millions of homes repossessed this forcing more people onto the streets soon
@@zorbathegreek8339 yes it is unfortunately that is Hy we need out national borders back in place and they have to be enforced too
Better to give them food and drink.
You know I follow this all the time, this plague we are suffering at the moment is drugs or alcohol, but they are human beings, we see so many times on TV adopt an animal, I would willingly adopt a homeless person, please give that some room for thought, I am willing.
Powerful statement. The value of a human is gone.
@@TheUnseenHomeless only if we let it ❤️
he choses to be on the st for 20 yrs their a many other places in England he could of gone and been rehoused he just needs somehealth with he s mental health
Have you seen Tony lately
There’s something wrong with society as there always been of course pissing and kicking someone who’s fighting to survive is atrocious these assholes have got there shit to come eventually because that’s what life does if you think your better than people who are suffering such shit don’t be surprised that one day you will be in there shoes one day
He just never wanted to work.
