Thank you for preserving and sharing this wonderful program. It’s unfortunate that the political issues they discuss haven’t changed much in 30 years. But how fortunate are we to able to hear their wise and timeless analysis for free on RUclips.

One of the most intelligent and well said statements regarding this issue. Also I think it may be Siskel and Ebert's finest hour, and that's saying a lot.

Every adolescent, teenager, and college student should see this video. What S & E say about the box office, sex, and violence in the movies is 100% true and most young people don't know or understand this. They ought to know that there are better films they could be seeing.

Exactly. Just because a film doesn't open at no. 1 doesn't mean it is damaged. These guys were legends. I could listen to them all day.

All I can say is wow....just wow. Ebert and Siskel has talked about the realities and the social problems in American society. I wish everyone would take a look at this video. One of the best videos on RUclips I have ever seen.

Gene was so truthful and passionate in what he said about the box office numbers. He's right, just because a film didn't open at no. 1 that weekend, doesn't mean it is damaged. Hoop Dreams never got to number 1, but it's fuckin' great!

    Fantastic points:
    - just because something is inside a movie, doesn't mean the movie is saying anything about it
    - the rating system and the studios thinking about the subject purely stinks
    - movies can never have become tools of commercials, toymarketing or propaganda
Big applause for these two legends, may they rest in peace.

+Angelus: Siskel and Ebert argue that the intention/context of a movie scene is critical to evaluating it's appropriateness. Fine -- we all agree. But then they never seem to ask themselves: "What responsibility does a film maker have for the UNINTENDED consequences of his movies (?)" They don't ask that . . . because it's much more complicated to deal with. They take the easy aspect of the problem and hit it out of the park . . . and pat themselves on the back for it. That's cheap and lazy and . . . irresponsible.

I gotta love Gene and Roger going after "generalities" given by politicians who have no idea what they are talking about, and then decide something is bad or not. The classic "boogeyman" theory is used because it takes no mental capacity...you can just shout it to the ill informed, who buy the Hollywood or Media is bad. And boy does Roger get it exactly right in regards to music... 2 thumbs up for Gene and Roger!!!!! And finally, for the so called Disney Classics, in Sleeping Beauty, the Malefacent tells a guard to kill Beauty and bring back her heart...yea...real wholesome stuff.

About 93% of movies today, if not given charity thumbs ups- would be trashed as accurately as possible. Why is everyone in Spaaace at War? ALL THE TIME? What blows up with no Oxygen‽ They show no future in humanity. Haavey Weinstein, Baby! Whatta guy, huh?
