People have definitely lost their way when it comes to watching movies or just consuming media in general cuz couple years ago we didn't care about rotten tomatoes or cinema scores ..budgets.. we just need to go back to checking out that first initial trailer not looking at set leaks or leaks of whole scripts
What’s scarier than longlegs, is the future of media consumption and the treatment of lower budget movies. The reception to recent movies like longlegs shows me that the future is not bright
For sure reviews have been unfair to a lot of movies, especially recently. Even if the criticisms are valid it doesn't make it a "bad" movie. If I'm having a good time it's a success to me even with some flaws (as long as it's not bad dialogue). It just might not be in the category where I want to buy it or watch it over and over but I still had a good experience. There are reviewers I like because they are interesting and entertaining but I definitely don't always agree with their opinions. There's a couple where we have the same taste so I trust them on whether I will enjoy the movie (like Flick Connection). I really don't like when the trailer is misleading and I'm grateful when reviewers give me a heads up on that (looking at you Civil War). I usually avoid spoilers so I can form my own opinion unless I'm on the fence about watching something then I might check out spoilers to see if it's worth my time and $ I prefer IMDB over Rotten Tomatoes but I do find it telling if the audience score is way higher than the critics. It just usually means the movie is not going to win any awards anytime soon but it was still worth the watch. I hate snobby critics.
I'm with you man, especially about criticism in relation to a movie being bad. I think provided real criticism instead of jumping to conclusions works best when doing a review.

Agree 100% man. I hate that we have the ability to know as much as we did about all of this stuff. It's jaded how the public receives film (& media).
