Thank you for these videos. You're the first person since I got a guitar in 1995 that's helped me understand music theory, scales, etc. I guess I just needed three strings the whole time.
The build videos were always super helpful up to the point I built my CBG, but now that I got one, the music theory and how to play videos are my favorites and at the top of my list. Thank you.
Wow, you seem to be a super cool dude man. I saw the really pretty walnut geetar earlier and was struck by your down-to-Earth mannerism and well, also the White Stripes-esque riffs! Im subbed! Im fixin to make some sort of Frankenstein's instrument as soon as I can wrap up my diy bandsaw and tablesaw fence. Ive got shittons of nice maple, red maple and other hardwoods from a big pallet haul and im really needing to get stuff done with all this wood Im up to my esrs in! Great vids!
This is great stuff! so helpful to have riffs broken down into manageable chunks to build with! Cheers back, and blessings to you! Also, can play along and solo over too-So much fun! How goes the church floor project?
What’s your go to Arturo Fuente box? You mentioned them before in a video. I just picked up some Corona Imperials. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Keep Rocking!
This was awesome Del! Sounded so good no matter what you did. Thanks for the "Basic Training" videos, I'll pass this along to my Pastor & his son (who's helping him figure out how to play this).
Hey Del, Charles McCoy again reaching out with a question, if you don't mind? I just recently finished my first cigar box guitar and I basically cut every corner to make it simple. I wanted to be successful on my first, so I wouldn't be discouraged. Pre slotted fret board, 25 inch scale, G D G, by the book and it was pretty nice. My question is, C B Gitty has fret scale templates covering 13 to 15, then 16 to 19, 20 to 23, up to 25 inch. To keep from being to confusing, what are at least 3 of the most common and easiest scales ? At those different lengths, how do you know what size strings, and tuning?
Hi there, Del. I'm currently building a 20-inch scale cbg that is more or less done but for the strings (the wood I had at hand dictated the scale of the instrument…) and I'm not sure what gauge of strings I should use. I really like the sound of that smass Avo guitar of yours, and you said the G string was 0.26, but can you tell me the gauge of the A and hig D string ? Thanks, and keep up the amazing work ;)
Hi Del I copied one of you cbg guitars frets but I cannot for the life of me what's it called. frets are as followed.3rd-5,7,9,12,15,17 and 19th.. I made it over a year ago there are 8 frets in all. john
