Some models as a blueprint on their website or on thingiverse should be enough!

It IS an afterthought at best and what irritates me most is that still, even after they admit through a product like this that the Pi4 is in dire need of cooling as a computer, they still insist in the "sprint-and-recover" use case for the Pi4, as if it's a smartphone. It's not, and it's not used as one. As a computer I put it through it's paces and I expect a - somewhat limited, sure but - constant performance, whether I do emulation, browsing or programming. Let's hope the next Pi will be designed with cooling from day one, if it actually needs it. The Pi 4 certainly does

Hell, maybe they should just include these in the next revision of the Kit, it'd be a good hands-on tutorial for the GPIO pins.

Does anyone know how to stop flickering/tearing on the pi watching RUclips videos?

  • @yannisdran
    @yannisdran Год назад

I wish I had seen this video earlier; I thought the supplied heatsink was too large and I went and I bought a set of 4 heatsinks (3 + 1 flat with rpi logo) about at 1.2$. CPU's heatsink was of a more reasonable size.
Unoftunately, the case wouldn't close with all 3 of them installed. So I took off the two that I had installed (gpu and usb heatsinks), and I installed the flat one, the one with the pi logo that I had deliberately left out to be installed last, on the gpu instead, to help the case to close without touching anything and still be able to heat off the gpu at least a bit.
Now, about that last comment about the ventilation missing, I bought a plastic hand driller and I carefully opened a small hole exactly above the pi logo on the case (white part). I think it worth the effort and it's still beatitul too.

    Worth knowing.
I have found an "official" site here in Japan doing Raspberry Pis, and their package deal for the whole 4B 8GB kit inc case - a better looking one in terms of cooling - is, in your terms anyway, about 135 USD inc shipping.
Just want to be sure I am not going to have to replace a very nearly new case after purchase - the case, I want to o/c it to 2.1 Ghz, is quite important.
    Thanks.

I installed a generic aluminum dual fan case (which is basically one big heatsink) with some thermal paste and my temps dropped to mid 30s with active cooling and high 40s without (19c ambient temp). I was in the low/mid 60s with the pi case holes drilled and 80c+ without the holes

Hi Eta Prime. Just an offtopic question. What's the cheapest android device that can run playstation 2 and gamecube games?

gamecube will be fine on a snap 7xx device like a redmi note 9s/9pro but ps2 might need a 8xx series soc meaning you should find a cheap 2020 or 2019 flagship

eeeek telling people to do a full-upgrade just to get a fan working is harsh, for many people going from older version of debian this will cuase lots of problems!

That case still needs an inlet and outlet to let the air flow properly.

Just got this fan, it's awful! Constant whine from it's motor, and it doesn't shut down when the pi is shut down. I have on my other pi4 one of the layered cases you show, I should have just got that, it runs home assistant on an SSD and never makes a sound. It's on 24/7

I would NOT recommend CoolerMaster's case - you can see the countless unhappy backers of the project(I am one of them). They screwed with shipment and fulfillment,in addition to that they will be shipping with pins shuffled so the promise of working with regular HATs have been abandoned

Has anyone made a kit for Raspberry pi that looks and works like a coleco desktop mini arcade?
