The problem I can see with putting this on a steak house menu is that it comes with a huge amount of waste, unless they have another cauliflower dish on the menu already.
That's when you add cauliflower mac to the menu. 😉😊
@@lolliswankette3251 that's some good stuff
But why oh why would this be on a steakhouse menu? More like for a vegan/vegetarian place.
@@rheeryder2524 You do know that many groups have people who want to eat meat AND people who are totally vegetarian, right? So a (meat-based) steakhouse is best when it serves vegetarians as well as meat eaters. Otherwise everyone would just go to vegetarian restaurants, since everyone can eat there (since we don't have humans who are only carnivores - all humans can eat plants as well as animals, just not the other way around).
Maybe they could do some cauliflower wings
I am not surprised, you litterally makes wonders with vegan food 👍
Aww thank you!!!
Awesome! That black vinegar really is transformative. I had no doubt yours would win this time.
Black Vinegar is so good!!! It was a game changer for me
One thing that really tires me out is the internets hatred of Vegans, i'm not even vegan lol.
But I've been watching you for a few weeks and honestly i just find it fascinating. I love food, and finding new things to try is always fun.
Saitan honestly looks really good, meat or not.
Its quite wild.
Im not vegan, im pescatarian that believes the world should try to eat a lot less meat. thats why I dedicated to making interesting and sometimes better plant based meats! I get it from all sides. The people that hate vegans and the people that hate that im not vegan. Its a wild world is all I have to say
That fact you can make the words cauliflower and steak work together as one entity so brilliantly and, culinary wise, so graceful.. you must be like the Gandalf of vegan meat cooking 😂
He definitely didn't invent this and it's definitely not like meat. It is delicious!
Yes, that is true. I also appreciate that he features this as a vegetable and not a fake meat. I don't usually like cauliflower unless it is in a savoury soup or stir fry, so this is a nice idea to try.
i've made that ramsey recipe before and the sauce/salsa/whatever is truly so good with cauliflower. i think his application is the true "thick cut of something" definition of the word steak (like tuna steak, only with cauliflower), but the other two are so pure steakhouse recipes. i'm so excited to try your version, especially since the rest of the cauliflower can be riced or added to a potato mash as a side. thanks for sharing!
i'd love to see you try a mushroom steak with some portobello caps or something :) i know the texture will obviously not be meat, but that's one of my favorite, classic meat subs for vegetarian dishes, so i'm really curious to see what flavors you'd add!
Excellent!! Always enjoy how you tweak these recipes!! Well done!👍
Awesome video, love the recipe idea and a sponsor that actually is respectable. Thanks for the great content !
Yes!! 😍 Monica with the Fork Drop at the end!!! That should be a thing when it’s good 😂 I love you guys so so so much. Thanks for making me smile.
Always look forward to your videos . Amazing as always your a like a vegan food wizard .
That looks very tasty. Thanks for the new recipe.
My mouth got watery… yum can’t wait to make your recipe
Hope you enjoy!!! Thank you!!!
@@SauceStache I’m sure I will
Delicious! Just plain delicious! Wish I could show you a picture but words will have to do. Thank you.
Wow I love how you have prepared the cauliflower with garlic and rosemary and the touch of vinegar is great super healthy and delicious
thank you very much i enjoyed it a lot
I will try your cauliflower version, however I am not a fan of that much vegan butter. I will try it totally your way first, then mine with less vegan butter 🧈 😋. Thank you for always sharing your recipe ideas 💡. It rocks trying out new recipes, as well as products you suggest 😀. Going to check ✔ out the trail mixes now.
Interesting! I'd probably try your version. But I do love me some rosemary and garlic so maybe the first one as well.
They all look really yummy! Good low carb meal too. I would make a chimichurri for a topping. I’ll make this tomorrow, hopefully works ok with little to no veg butter 😋.
All you folks looking for "low carb" stuff are so confused. Cauliflower and all other vegetables are mostly carbohydrates and that's what your body needs, mostly. The bad carbohydrates are process starches and other sugars, not "carbohydrates". Good carbohydrates are whole vegetables, especially raw, as it's mostly fiber. For example, cauliflower is 50% carbohydrates, but most of that is fiber, not sugar, and the sugar is either unprocessed (when raw) or mildly processed (when cooked).
Your videos are so fun to watch. You are an amazing chef. Would you post, in the future, some whole food burger recipes that are gluten-free and oil free?
Had to come back and say I tried your recipe with tweaks to fit the ingredients I have and it turned out to be the best steak I've ever had. So freaking yummy
I'd love me one now too!! I'm drooling.
Now get me 2 buns. CAULIFLOWER STEAK BURGERS!!!!🤯
I turned it into a vegan French dip sandwich. 👍🏽 👍🏽
Your recipe is soooo good! Made this for my wife with the nutritional yeast…. DELICIOUS!!!! I didn’t even try the other 2 recipes. You did it again! Thank you
defo will be trying this!! thanks!
Hope you like it!
Oooh that trail mix looks tasty af. Going to have to try your version of cauli steak one day!
I'm not really a cauliflower steak person, but this makes me want to try your version!
Is there anything I can useto substitute for the Black vinegar? Hard to find near me :(
Mmmmmmmm. You had me at butter and garlic 🤤
Right? hahaha its so good!!
I was just thinking, "I bet some black vinegar would go well here" and then you pulled out the bottle!
Having watched I thought I'd try doing the steak, but I didn't have any of the ingredients apart from the cauliflower and the rosemary, so I used balsamic vinegar and mushroom ketchup 😋 omg this was one of the best things I have tasted.
Ok. I thought I knew all of the wonderfully-distinct-yet-often-overlooked ingredients... black vinegar? How have I not heard of this? Is this one you regularly display?? I'm definitely going to get me some. But I'd love more on it, like explanation, recipes, and whatnot.
Just made/ate the one with roasted garlic and nutritional yeast: AMAZING!!!!
i definitely wanna try making yours and gordon's take on this
I tried your recipe, but substituted a well aged balsamic for the black vinegar. It turned out Great! Thank you for your twist on the other two recipes. I will be making again!
It looks delicious and I'd be hungry 20 minutes later.
Let's talk sides! Baked beans, baked potato, kale salad with raisins and silken chocolate tofu pudding... eh?
yeah I need my main to have protein in it so I stay away from vegetables like jack fruit and cauliflower I don't understand how people get full eating these things.
@@christylbk silken tofu, stevia, fruit or cocoa
Dessert becomes what makes you full
So I have black vinegar but can I substitute red wine vinegar for white wine vinegar?
Why am I so addicted to this channel?
hahahah thank you!!
Update: I made your version with the only change being some extra seasonings I like and also I used a dash of asian vegan Worcestershire sauce. It was so good I made it again the next night.
Ahh yes!!! Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!!
I'd love to cook it like you did, but not cook it fully, then fry it in seasoned batter.
Adding this to my dinner list within the next couple weeks....
Your cauliflower steak looked the best. I’m sure it tastes the best too.
I love them both ways, I keep it more savory too.
Thank you for sharing
Would love if you linked the recipes directly under the video, had to go through all the pages of your recipe index and could not find this
awesome thanks for video!
Thank you!!
Can't find the recipe. Not in the description box nor on the website...
Do you have a written recipe for your version?
The cauliflower stakes looks lovely inert they taste fantastic
I’m not a fan of cauliflower but I would eat the steak you made! Looks sooo good 😊
Thank you so much!! It was really good!!
@@SauceStache 👍🏾🤩
I wish I could eat cauliflower. It makes me sick same as broccoli. It tastes good but it makes me very ill. This looks really good too. ☺️ You are very good at cooking vegan food.
Right. I got sick from cruciferous veggies some years ago. Horrible stomach pain...doctor told me some ethnic groups particularly often have issues w/ these foods. I've been afraid of cauliflower for years but one day I'll venture it.
I think I'l try filling the gaps in the cauliflower with some seitan dough before cooking.
Try with Caldwell Esseltsyn diet, without oil
I'm glad meat eating chefs are trying to learn new things by cooking plant based recipes but obviously a vegan cook with tons of experience would win this round. Good job! Honestly, your version looked way more yummy and "steak-like". I think even putting that on a bun with some veggies, vegan cheese and sauce would make it a great burger for those days you're in a hurry and have no patty in the fridge.
I wish steakhouses did serve things like that. They don't' realize how many groups opt out of choosing their location because of the one or two vegans in the group who won't eat anything there.
Also, I have a Cauliflower languishing in my veggie drawer. You just inspired me to cook it tonight.
Exactly and Im sure a lot of these places would do a pretty good job at making these great
The only problem with having vegetarian food at a non-vegetarian restaurant is that a lot of the cooks don't know what to do to keep it vegetarian. You might get dairy/eggs in there, because they think cow's milk and chicken eggs are plants, or you might get things fried in lard, or they might just cook the supposedly vegetarian stuff on the same grill as the meat without cleaning it off at all. And things like packaged sauces/flavorings might have sneaky ingredients that they never even think about, like fish sauce in pad thai, or Worcestershire sauce, or bullion. I mean, this is probably fine for some folks who call themselves vegetarian, or are vegetarian for health reasons and are willing to be less careful, or for folks are vegetarian for more casual reasons, but for others it just isn't worth it.
I tend to only eat at not-specifically-vegetarian restaurants that are in hipster/liberal/college areas where they likely have at least someone working there who's at least ovo-lacto-vegetarian, and/or most employees know friends and family who are totally vegetarian.
Lovely!
I'd like to request that you show us how to make a cauliflower pizza crust. Both my mom and my ex can't have regular pizza crust but can have and really do enjoy the store bought frozen cauliflower crust pizzas. I have also purchased the 2 packs of cauliflower pizza crusts for them so they can make their own pizzas at home. I feel as if you're the go to guy to ask for a yummy cauliflower pizza crust recipe. I feel certain I can make a better, more healthy, less expensive cauliflower crust pizza at home than the ones I buy. If you can provide a good cauliflower pizza crust recipe, I'd really appreciate it. I tried 2 online versions and they were not like the ones I buy frozen at all. I bet other people would appreciate a good recipe too.
I searched prior to asking and didn't find a recipe for cauliflower pizza crust by you, if you have shared one and I missed it, I apologize and would love to have it.
I'd love to have a recipe for a gluten free vegetarian cauliflower pizza crust! I think the only ones I've seen in stores have eggs in them.
what kind of vitamins and protein do you take to replace meat? im about two months eating no meat and i love your videos !
The only vitamin you probably need to take is B12. Regarding nutrients like protein just make sure you eat a balanced diet with lots of variety. You can get your protein from lentils, beans, tofu etc or even stuff like seitan.
You need very little protein, and nearly all plants have plenty. Even an apple has a reasonable amount. But nuts, seeds, and dark green leafy veggies have way more than enough. It's just an old myth that you need a lot of protein. Humans need mostly carbohydrates, and mostly fiber carbs, so eat a variety of fresh, raw fruits and veggies every day, and you'll be all set. Everything else, from cooked veggies to nuts/seeds, and processed stuff, should be minimal, but it's ok in moderation, probably.
please look up some vegan nutritionists and not people from youtube.. Look up Dr. Michael Greger
I really enjoyed your video, I enjoy them all, but I really don’t like cauliflower. I’d try with a big mushroom.
More info on that Gordons style Non-Stick pan, please.
What can we do with squash?
I bet an air fryer cauliflower steak would come out really well.
You're the man!
What exactly is vegan butter? Is it healthy? I have been finding that a lot of vegan products are not really any better for me than their non-vegan counterparts. EVOO is my go to for just about everything anymore but if vegan butter is good I might give it a go.
I think you like butter more than Monica
Yeah absolutely hahah
I'm just curious, from a maybe legal pov?
When you make videos of other creators dishes, even if you don't share their recipe, do you HAVE to make your own version to avoid (for lack of a better word) copyright issues?
Recipes are not copyrighted. No one owns a recipe. So no I’m not worried about any sort of legal issues with these.
No one would be able to make any new recipes because all new recipes are based off old techniques.
@@SauceStache
Ok, so you just do your own version just to do it. I'm not complaining just fyi, just curious.
Love your content!
Yours really does look like it's the best.
Why did you not peel the garlic cloves?
They still are pink, which is the skin shell?
I only didnt peel the garlic on the one.. which I then used to squeeze the roasted garlic out of.
I wondered why I saw them all still in jackets 🤭😁
I thought. Oh, I don't have to peel them after all the years I have.
Me trying to be lazy that's all. 😄
mmmmmm just tried your version you sunnuva***** youve done it again X'D
That would go nice on some... mashed cauliflower. Iol
yummo!
Was that English mustard? It looked like Dijon
Did anyone click on the snack link? He's on the website!
Black vinegar--I'll find some and make this.
I am confused, is this a variety of cauliflower or do all of your cauliflowers in western countries looks like this?
I am unable to do this recipe because I've never seen cauliflowers like those in so many videos I have watched where I live. Here, the "root" is much much more thinner than what is seen in the video and then it's branching out to much more branches before having the flower... on individual small branches so you can't just cut up in the middle of the root and have something similar to the video where you have one big chuck of flowers, thick root and thick branches.
is there a recipe for this????
You steak with his salsa. 👌
Has sauce stache ever made vegan parmesan?
Isn't that literally just walnuts and nutritional yeast ground in a food processor? That's what the store bought stuff is, and what I make.
@@thewiseturtle It can also be made with raw cashews and nutritional yeast which is very good.
You never explained why you left the peel on the garlic🤷
My guess is he didn’t want to burn the garlic because he squeezed it on to the cauliflower at the end before serving for added flavor.
BOOM this answer is it!
More steak more steak. Those too da loos look good but I’m allergic to nuts sigh.
I need to make more!!! The Toodaloos are so good and im so sorry about that :( Im finding out now that im allergic to Mellons??
@@SauceStache is that cantaloupe perchance?
I love Cauliflower and all, but...this is the kind of stuff that makes meat eaters laugh at the food we eat. I do like Cauliflower wings though, but this seems a bit ridiculous.
Isn't vegan butter just margarine? At least it sounds like a fancy word for it.
You need Biden sunglasses 😎 😂 good video
Toodaloo is definitely marketed towards stoners. The bags look exactly like a branded bag of..... Stuff ... From a club
Yed
You forgot the leaves on gordons
That didn't look like English mustard... That looked like Dijon.
Coleman's mustard powder is a radioactive yellow colour, and will make your nose run... You'd go blind with the amount you put in!
Haha it was Coleman’s and maybe I just have stronger taste buds cause it’s not that bad
You and Nick treated it like a steak. Ramsey treated it like vegetable. Of course, it was still good, but the ones done like a steak Had to be more like a steak. I like your flavour profile, though. Hi, Monica!!!!
Very true!! they were all pretty different, but I agree, I liked the way that Nick prepared his cauliflower and ultimately the way mine came out. They all have their place and are all good though!
I think in his usage, he means the literal "thick cut" (cauliflower in this case) rather than beef steak!
Seems tasty, though Ramsay deserves zero publicity for his hatred & what I'd most like to see at a steakhouse is a permanently closed notice.
Don't lie to yourself and eat a natural delicious beef steak
Who is lying to themselves?
It's my guess that Nick has a completely separate junk board for his trademark knife-sticks. Otherwise he's being a real idiot with his cutting board
P
You shouldn’t pepper before searing, it’ll taste bitter. Pepper afterwards.
This is a good video. You didn't try to persuade us it tastes like liver and when tasting pretended it actually tastes like liver. Keep this up and stop faking BS cause I tried some recipes e.g. the mushroom that tastes like bacon but it totally didnt.
goddamnit finished the video and you started saying the coliflower tastes like a steak. Goddamnit you did it again...
I feel like u hate Ramsay
Not in the slightest! I enjoy his content, personality and a lot of his cooking. Just because someone doesnt enjoy a few of a chefs recipes doesnt in any way meant they hate the person
@@SauceStache I do dislike Ramsay so I wouldn't blame you 😂
she doesnt like califlower lol
Well. I’m cooking yours, but making Gordon’s topping…
I like you, Monica and your channel. Someone I don't like is R. Gordon. He is no vegan. He knows nothing about vegetarian treatment of food. Stop using him as a prop to get more views. I think you are actually harming the views. If we wanted to see him we could. We don't.
Hey, so I really don't appreciate the "prop to get more views" comment. I make 2 full length videos a week and I work as hard as I can to make each video as entertaining, fun, and informational as possible. I enjoy Gordon Ramsays content and personally I like trying to make his recipes.
@@SauceStache How do you feel about the multiple times Ramsay has deliberately tricked people into eating dead animals?
Do blind test.
Have you lost weight? Looking slim!
never had a Cauliflower Steak, but I had plenty of cow cauliflowers, oh no wait, that's just steak isn't it ?
I really think Gordon Ramsey should stop to try making vegan food
