YEAH THAT BLACK BAR!!!!!! Legit I don’t remember ever dropping it, but when I turned it on one morning that black bar just appeared over night I swear to god it did.
I turned it on this morning, everything fine except I had to plug it in. Closed the lid, plugged it in, opened it and black bar on top screen. Act of God 😂
I have a DS lite with a mostly white top screen, it still shows some detail but not enough to play DS games, could you repair mine possibly? I don't feel comfortable with messing with the little ribbon cables.
If you replace the screen you have to solder to remove the speakers from the old screen to the replacement screen unless you buy a replacement screen that already has speakers soldered on.
oh man my ds lite might have no hope of getting fixed, if I wanted to fix it I would need to replace the screen, the Shell, I need a new hinge, and a new microphone, as a kid when I broke it, I literally ripped the entire screen off except the black cable it held the screen together 😂, it'll be expensive but one day I will fix my ds lite
@Corey Sandman That is a bad idea, pressing hard on the dead pixel may make it look like its going transparent, but in all actuality, it's making it way worse, you may notice more dead pixels appearing from time to time
Yeah, great job using a screen that already has the speakers attached instead of what most of us would have: a screen without speakers. On top of that, the screen didn't even work. That bodes well when the job ended up not even being a success and then you jump cut to the screen replaced and working.
I've taken apart many small electronics myself. Sometimes the design just requires a lot of parts to be removed to get this far. Any shortcut would be breaking something.
When I turn mine on, it crashes after a second. The lower screen works, but the upper one is black. I don't know if it works because it crashes after a second. Cables are properly connected. Could it be that it crashes because the upper screen is not connected properly? Thanks for your help!
i put my dslite back together and the bottom part is kind of bulging or something causing it to not close all the way when all the screws are in? does anyone know whats causing that?
If you are still looking for an answer, you might want to check that any wires are sitting flat on the motherboard. Additionally, It might not be closed all the way if your L and R buttons aren't 100% locked in.
Fucking hate the tape at the top. It came unsticking and now that the wires are lying somewhere else, the lid won't close. I'm so pissed off that I paid for a DS claiming to have a broken but then fixed top screen.
Worst tutorial I could’ve followed you didn’t say there was screws where there were screws, that you routed the white wire before screwing the board down and didn’t even complete half of the reassembly on camera thanks for the help 😒
Nintendo DS LIte is a pain in the @ss to replace this screen, I suffer too much in my life with this kind of problem haha. I have a DS with a problem on the top screen but I will wait until a can't see nothing to swap, is so difficult.
Not the best video as your meant desolder and resolder the speakers which you completely skipped by clipping the plastics. You need a soldering iron to do a top screen replacement!

mine too
That same thing happened it to me

this is such a delicate job , if you get stressed its game over
I see what you did there.
Your honesty and straight forward
Explaination of everything you were doing earned a sub. Keep up the good work and great videos 👍
So, good tutorial. I would like to see a fresh screen replacement that also need soldering the speakers.
Thank you so much better than the ifixit guide for damn sure
Mistakes are the best teaching moments.

Did you use a soldering iron at all for this? I watched through but don't think I saw one

Mine has a broken hinge and the top screen is pinkish, would it be better to just replace the top part or try and repair it?
Wait where did you use the double sided tape and screen lense cover?
Hi! do you use the same speakers? or is not possible? Can you share the link of product?
Thanks a lot
You can use the same speakers however you will need Soldering iron which you can get on ebay for a good price
Nice! doing this tomorrow to a ds lite
What size are the Phillips screws
Thank you for making a great video

Do you offer this as a service?
Hi Drew, what is the typical cost for this type of repair? Thanks

On mine I had to put the wifi board in too for the screens to work. Otherwise I would get a green light but no displays. Hope this helps anyone else

Bro i cant get out the cable of the display
What is the heat tool that you used to get the caps off the top screen?
It’s called a heat gun
thanks, helped me out a lot
Wish I had the confidence to fix my DS. Oh well. I'll have to find someone who can do it for me.
Wait so you don't have to do any soldering?
you do if you buy a new top screen
Can you not remove the top screen without the full disassembly?

yes ds lite goes through a test before it starts and if the top screen is broke it’ll automatically shut back off
hey man got the same problem right now, have you solved it somehow?
I can never get the damn back to close flush again
So i can’t fix the top white screen at all?
you have to buy a new top screen
What so pain in the butt to repair. I need to replace both screen on my ds lite as well

Yo can I send you my ds and can you fix my top screen
Mid watching this video. Hope there isn’t any soldering.
Edit: ok phew no soldering.
