Wonderful tutorial, Mate! I did everything according to the video, and everything came out as result! The only encounter that I had different was whenever removing the padded squares on the top shell housing. The screws were hidden behind a shiny reflective tape, however, this doesn't apply to everybody's console. A++ to this man's demonstration!
Thanks a lot. I really needed this. Didn't know how to properly take apart my dsu case the first time and broke the top part. Now I know what to do when I do that again. Thanks
I was contemplating doing this myself....i think ill just buy another unit and keep this as a backup! A new appreciation for the engineering and design team though!
made it all the way to the soldering part without realizing I needed to re solder the speakers to the new screen lol. Thank god amazon will have me a soldering iron here tonight so I can finish this repair for a buddy!
This is so nice. I hope you do a housing replacement tutorial for the old regular Nintendo 3DS too. I'm gonna try your recent tutorial for the DS Lite. But I also want to give a fresh look to my 3DS. Hope you keep doing these videos! ☺️
Got through the teardown to do this repair (and a shell replacement for the hell of it) opened up my new screens, ribbon cable was already ripped before even layed my eyes on it ww. Hate it when that happens
I tried fixing my DSi a few years back and broke some of the ribbons trying to put it back together... I've had more experience since then so I am gonna try to now fix my 2ds xl 👍
Wow... I actually did it!! Too bad damn aliexpress screen came with a little stain on the corner, can't stop looking at it :( but it's waaaaay better than it was before!! Thank you for this amazing tutorial.
OMG this made me so mad yesterday that not only I damaged the new screen cable, but also the cameras. Now another 2 weeks for the replacements to arrive and try again. The twisting part is terrible. But thanks for the video, it'll surely come in hand
welll I managed to solder it, but, i think between tries i did something wrong, the dsi turned on, but i disconeccted the batery with the battery off, I think a fuse blown out, now it doesn't turn on with battery, but flash the orange light once when connected to power supply. HELP
O yeah, my next video will be about the speedometer (bouncing needle fix) and simultaneously fixing cruise not working. Or a complete distributor tear down and fixing a startup issue.
I took mine apart and followed all your steps and I made sure everything is connected right and the power button turns blue for about 3 seconds and then it powers off.
I was going to buy one with a broken screen but I wanted to see how easy it is to fix I heard soldering and I just went nope I tried to fix a 1st gen Xbox and I had VERY bad luck to say the least
First of all; AWESOME Vid! I were basically just looking for a video about only replacing the top lens. Got a white one in really good condition a week ago. The only thing is that it has a couple of kind of deep, anoying scratches on it. Only on the top lens. From what i can see here, it should be possible to just remove it from the front without even opening it up, just using a razor blade or something really thin and sharp. Am i misstaken? :) Thank you
Late but how do i pull the hinge back?? ive tried for a while now but i dont think i have a thin enough item to do it with. or is there some technique to do it?
Hello! I have a Nintendo DSi that charges (orange led) but it doesn't turn on. Do you have any idea where this might come from? I have so many memories in this DSi 😅 Thank you!
Yeah I think I’m just gonna deal with the screen with changing colors Edit: I ended up doing it. I scuffed up the case towards the top and had to buy a new board after accidentally breaking it but it works now.
Was told this was a hard repair so I looked this up I probably would have tore a ribbon cable but it's way easier than replacing the screen on a Samsung phone
Just changed the bottom LCD screen of mine, and then assembly everything back again, the nintendo was doing a flickering when powering, re open it again and put back again the LCD screen cable and then now the nintendo wont even turn on and while charging the orange lights blinks
I’m going yolo and installing it without speakers then. Got a broken one on purpose as a project…soldering is not a skill set I have. Start with the top and eliminating the broken screen and then work through the bottom. I fix a laptop screen and it wasn’t this difficult. This is ridiculous
Ooph. Maybe i should bought a ds lite to repair. Aint no way in hell i can do this. I can already see the sweat drops falling from my face onto the components
This is a nightmare to work on. Probably one of the most complicated repairs I've seen. Appreciate the help.
I think 3ds is the actual restoration horror😢
The way you pulled out the hinge so easily...this is my first DSi repair and it's sort of a nightmare in comparison to the DS lite imo
The dsi is the hardest console to work on in my experience
was halfway through when i found a tear in the new screens ribbon cable- as soon as the other new one comes in ill deff come back to this vid!!
i want to use this video as a shell replacement guide
your video looks detailed and easy to follow

actually you make it very simple and unquestionable,im just follow your steps and it works thnx nice video
Did it work?
@@pessensei6283 yeah like a charm :)
This is a straight forward repair, let me know if you have any questions regarding this repair.
It really is straight forward. I love that! Great quality image too.
Does this work with DSi XL as well, or is that model a little bit different?
does this also work with the DSi XL
Where can I get the new screen
And I also have problem with the camera, it doesn't work pls help
shell swapping the dsi
only showed up here because i took the 4 nubs off and didnt see screws
so far everythings been done properly..thankyou bro!
Thanks a lot. I really needed this. Didn't know how to properly take apart my dsu case the first time and broke the top part. Now I know what to do when I do that again. Thanks
Thanks. Fixed the DSi following this video
I love this model. I think it’s the best looking portable Nintendo system.
yeah im thinking same thing , it feels very premium when you hold it and have very own style
Man you’re a legend, I recently got into collecting and slightly refurbishing the DS family of consoles and you have a video for everything I need
I was contemplating doing this myself....i think ill just buy another unit and keep this as a backup! A new appreciation for the engineering and design team though!
Man you made it look effortlessly easy thanks for this
Make it look so easy! It’s really hard; you’re a master at ur craft!
made it all the way to the soldering part without realizing I needed to re solder the speakers to the new screen lol. Thank god amazon will have me a soldering iron here tonight so I can finish this repair for a buddy!
Noticed the speaker wires are reversed when you soldered to new lcd, see 6:38 vs 7:38. Will the speaker still work?
This is so nice. I hope you do a housing replacement tutorial for the old regular Nintendo 3DS too. I'm gonna try your recent tutorial for the DS Lite. But I also want to give a fresh look to my 3DS.
Hope you keep doing these videos! ☺️
Yes, I will be adding that video shortly
This is perfect, I’m installing a new housing and this helps! Thanks!
Got through the teardown to do this repair (and a shell replacement for the hell of it) opened up my new screens, ribbon cable was already ripped before even layed my eyes on it ww. Hate it when that happens
Instant sub
I tried fixing my DSi a few years back and broke some of the ribbons trying to put it back together... I've had more experience since then so I am gonna try to now fix my 2ds xl 👍
I am about to replace my top screen following this tutorial. Wish me luck!
Wow... I actually did it!! Too bad damn aliexpress screen came with a little stain on the corner, can't stop looking at it :( but it's waaaaay better than it was before!! Thank you for this amazing tutorial.
Thanks for the video! Great help to follow with my restoration today!
gran trabajo, seguí paso a paso el video y es realmente complicada la reparación pero después de todo mi Nintendo Dsi volvió a funcionar
OMG this made me so mad yesterday that not only I damaged the new screen cable, but also the cameras. Now another 2 weeks for the replacements to arrive and try again. The twisting part is terrible. But thanks for the video, it'll surely come in hand
Awesome repair!
whats the cable in min 2:00? becouse it completely detached(broke?) when I tried to unplug it, now I have to solder it, and its really micro
welll I managed to solder it, but, i think between tries i did something wrong, the dsi turned on, but i disconeccted the batery with the battery off, I think a fuse blown out, now it doesn't turn on with battery, but flash the orange light once when connected to power supply. HELP
@@fangdelust1675 I got the exact same issue and I didn't even apply any force trying to unplug it. It just ripped right off immediatly.
So difficult. Congratulations 👏🏻🎉
This is definitely in my top 5 most frustrating things that I've ever done. Holy shit that ribbon cable is a nightmare.
great video, helped me a lot
Remember having one of those as a kid lol,any updates on the Bronco?
O yeah, my next video will be about the speedometer (bouncing needle fix) and simultaneously fixing cruise not working. Or a complete distributor tear down and fixing a startup issue.
Also for the front brakes I will be doing a video showing the removal of the rotors and converting to Warn manual hubs.
I took mine apart and followed all your steps and I made sure everything is connected right and the power button turns blue for about 3 seconds and then it powers off.
Thank you
The casing for the connector at 2:00 came out as well when I removed the connector. Any way to easily reattach that?
Thanks for the video, bro. 🙏
Is it mandatory to solder the speakers for it to work properly? If not, can the console be heard through headphones?
I was going to buy one with a broken screen but I wanted to see how easy it is to fix I heard soldering and I just went nope I tried to fix a 1st gen Xbox and I had VERY bad luck to say the least
Would a DSi xl look the same? (When it comes to the inner parts
i tried to follow it, but my dsi has nothing below those rubber screw covers on the top screen, just smooth metal..
Pry up the metal, it is metal covered rubber caps

How do you coil the LCD cable.... ive tore the connector trying to slide it in.....
On second thought.... I'm good
Late but how do i pull the hinge back?? ive tried for a while now but i dont think i have a thin enough item to do it with. or is there some technique to do it?
is taking apart the bottom required too for this repair?
I have the exact same ds but the broken part is on the bottom can that be fixed as well?
The lower screen? Yes, that is an easier task
would the process be the same for dsi xl?
The process is similar, yes
My DSI somehow got some dirt inside de front screen. Do I need to disasemble the lower part too to clean it or simply open the top part?
By any chance do you know if both bottom and top screen should have the same brightness
What temperature do you use for the soldering gun?
I hope you can make a video for DSi XL soon.
I will soon.

Hello! I have a Nintendo DSi that charges (orange led) but it doesn't turn on. Do you have any idea where this might come from? I have so many memories in this DSi 😅 Thank you!
A no power issue could be simpler a bad battery, or could involve a bad power board. I recommend buying a working dsi for parts
there are mushroom on my top screen that just need a little wipe.. is it worth the work to open it up 😷 I'm affraid I can broke it
7:45 eh I see you can open the lens ?? is there a way so I can just open the lens up without opening the dsi ?
Nice video. I have quick question , does dsi have ips screen ? Thanks
I am not sure.
@@TheFixTech just checked, no dsi don't. Just dsi xl. Thanks
Hello, is there any way I can send you my dsi xl to repair. The top screen is cracked.
thanks!
Sick! Can you make one on how to fix the mic? Thanks.
Those rubber caps suck. I tried taking one of them off, and it got ripped in half. I literally cannot open it now.
Yeah I think I’m just gonna deal with the screen with changing colors
Edit: I ended up doing it. I scuffed up the case towards the top and had to buy a new board after accidentally breaking it but it works now.

I only made it to 2:01 before I destroyed it.
I've copied the video my bottom screen was working and since I've replaced the top it's just blank white how can i fix this please x

Ok I think Imma just be fine with my pixel error I think I would destroy the whole Dsi 😂😂
Now that I put it all back together it won’t turn on :(
My top screen doesnt have screws lmao
I guess the top screen is fubred
