Hey rooster it’s Christian! Hope all is well. I had a question.. can you run these fat boy amps on 10 meter? Got my amateur tech license and realized I have a lot of power and that Lincoln you did up for me is a 10-12 meter figured it was worth a shot. Also, do you have access to ham amps? For uhf/vhf ? If I’m gonna buy some I’d prefer to get them through you.
All the stations I talk to running the quad 5's sound great. One of these will be on my future purchase list. How would an all the way work without using power? Would it be better to run a stock with an rm italy or an all the way without? I have the kl203p i run with my grant xl right now.
Ready to go with the amp will do a little more than the all the way version, but if those were my two options, i'd just get all the way and run it by itself. You'd be doing probably 50 watts less
I'm not very knowledgeable on the technical side of things, I just plug and play basically. Just to give my thoughts on the subject, I think it's better to have the ability to adjust the output of the radio. I just think there's more flexibility on what amps to run with it to gain the output you want. In the case with all the way where it seems to be full power all the time you're rather limited on what to pair with it. Your step up has to be quite large to accept that kind of drive. I have a couple that are adjustable, the qt 40 and quad 5 plus. They both can drive the rm italy without issue if adjusted low enough. One thing to note, depending on the radio is going to have different amounts of average power. For which you have to be careful with a low drive amp to not overdrive. What I found on my MFJ meter with the peak circuit is that with the qt 40 wide open on sideband which does 30 or 35 pep driving a kl 300p which in the book recommends 20 watts of drive. This gave me between 175 to 200 pep and about 60 average. Now hooking up the quad 5 I have to turn the RF power back to about ten o clock because it does a little more power overall but considerably more average. Sideband seems to be the only adjustable mode for mine. It shows only 10 to 15 pep at that 10 o clock position and hooked up to the amp does about 150 pep and nearly 100 average. That extra 40 average really draws the current on my 30 amp power supply. The max amp draw for that amp is 20 and I'm pretty much hitting it on the nose. So you can have less pep thats recommended but still be hitting it too hard with average. I don't know if going over on pep is as bad as making it overdraw with average. Average seems to be more important but that's just my opinion, I would be mindful of both. Sorry to ramble.
There is a way to go to the service menu and turn it down. So it will show s3 or so when you still have it turned up. I just turn my rf gain to about 3oclock.
i am writeing to the radio but i cant find where it was wrote at ..im so confused

So this is out of the box, nothing done to it? I am considering this radio.
Nope it's not out of the box
@@Rooster_Radio So, I assume it is more than the CB conversion?
If you wonder what they sound like: ruclips.net/video/lAK1b-fbzm8/видео.htmlsi=-T4RzA_TIQyK6o-y
Mine has a constant rf noise of 5-7. Awful

I like the radio , but thst mic jack has me concerned. Can you use a normal 4 or 6 pin mic ?
Use the adapter and use whatever mic you want
