    Thank you so much to Leap for sponsoring today's video leaphabitats.com/ ! What do you all think of the habitat I setup for Littlefoot? Isn't he such an amazing little turtle? What did you think of Leap? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for watching!

      Gorgeous habitat! I would love to build one (maybe for some frogs?) someday. As you can obviously tell from my second sentence, I still have A LOT of learning and researching to do before I make that Leap (haha see what I did there😆) … but I’ll get there eventually. I want to make sure that I’m 100% comfortable and totally confident that I can give my new pet(s) the life they deserve 😊❤

    Nicely done sir. I think this would be great for your easier cared for species. The picture background is nice and the misting system holes being integrated into the frame is really nice. I just can't see doing certain other species in something like these. Like Dart frogs, Red eyed skinks, and bearded dragons. They are not sturdy enough. Price point is a little high being you can get a comparable glass enclosure about the same price.

    Great vid! Cool product! The fog doesn't look too natural though. One thing you could play around with (though it wasn't clear how the fog got in), is PVC type pipe the same diameter as the fog tube. Drill 1/4'' or so holes about an inch apart(as a guess...) to start, and experiment from there if it doesn't look right. Make sure to seal the opposite end. Place the pipe ,holes down, across the back and the fog should more gently fall down and blanket the enclosure, a bit thicker on the side the fog comes in on. Depending on the strength (and what is in the enclosure), you could also try embedding it shallow in the substrate(or behind decor), holes up, so the fog emanates towards the top with the airflow. This might more simulate fog rising from a stream... Only do this one if the lights are water resistant, as the fog will most likely condense on them. Also be careful of water buildup in the pipe itself, have it on a slight angle with a hole at the lowest point (facing down) so the water can drain out. It's fun to experiment on a small scale, more fun with 80 feet of pipe on a large stage! 😉

    Huh, corrugated plastic enclosure? Interesting. I would love to have some black breasted leaf turtles, so cute and charismatic.
    QOTD: I think that enclosure may also be good for dart frogs, or small tree frogs, what are the dimensions?

  • @Agg1E91
    @Agg1E91 Год назад

    For my second reptile ever (first was the tried-and-true Leopard gecko), I am contemplating a 36" high leap enclosure for a couple of emerald tree skinks, or maybe an anole or two.
    The neat thing about the enclosure walls is that they can be cut. I've thought about 2 shorter units, placed together, with large (75%) holes smoothed off which would allow a more terrestrial reptile make use of horizontal footage (as opposed to the vertical focus of the current units).

    • @Reptiliatus
      @Reptiliatus  2 года назад +7

      I’ve actually considered this but decided against it. Unless you plan to create an actual large sump under your terrarium, the stream will just get too dirty in my opinion. With the amount of turtles I own I decided dishes would just be easier to maintain and keep clean.

    • @timreptile
      @timreptile 2 года назад +1

      @@Reptiliatus I’ve been partly inspired by your red eyed croc enclosures. Thank you for your input, I will continue with my plan (which doesn’t include a sump) but bare in mind your comments, and be prepared to abandon the ‘stream’ if it becomes too dirty.
      I’m probably being over optimistic and a bit naive as whilst I’ve kept many species of reptile and amphibian this will be my first Chelonian kept at home.
      In my country there are only a handful of people keeping this species, and I’m lucky to have found one of them lives very close to me, in fact his male is on the cover of Anthony Pierlioni’s book!

    Hi Dayyan how do you know the wood isn’t conifere? Saw some beatiful rotten wood yesterday but didint picked it up because i didnt know what type of wood it was and dont want my reptiles in danger!

    • @Reptiliatus
      @Reptiliatus  2 года назад +1

      My experience has been that when the wood is that old and broken down it’s usually safe regardless. If you are so unsure than play it safe and don’t use it but usually you can also tell by evaluating everything else growing in the same space. If you are in a deciduous forest, odds are it isn’t a random pine your collecting.

    Corrugated plastic and, what, aluminum? How long to do you really expect this kind of enclosure to hold up? If you need a UV light, not very long. Hard to trust that you actually stand behind his product, Dayyan.

      I believe it’s actually uv resistant. The plastic front is what has me nervous. But I think they are the company that makes eotec lights and pumps and I personally own a few eotec products and they are very high quality. So it may be better than it appears

      "Resistant" doesn't mean much, it's basically over-priced garbage.
