I learned most of my straight razor shaving from watching your videos. You said 100 shaves; it took me more like 150 on my 75 yr-old face, but it's been fun all the way, and I'm still learning.. I bought a Boker from you; now I'm teetering on getting one of those Spartacus ones. You are a good salesman; there's an air of honesty and care along with the informative instruction. Thank you, Geofatboy! (Put on some Elvis music. LOL).
Not too much you can't learn without a bit of time and practice. I like to say, it's not rocket science. A little perseverance will get you where you want to be.
Nice video guide for shaving, thanks a lot. I really can’t manage my left so far, hafta use only my right hand on both sides which is somehow uncomfortable
you've got one of the most hard core whiskers on the planet! how you are able to mow that down so easily is a testament to your skill. that platinum tobs sounds like a great scent. which one of you is Spartacus? I AM SPARTACUS!
Even though I, as an earnest student trying to improve my skills (and survive), appreciate your usual commentary during straight razor shaves, it was interesting just to watch and have to concentrate a bit more, visually, so as to understand "where and how you were" at each section of the face. In a way, the effect was greater, for me, because of not attending to any audible language. Again, your commentary is always appropriate, right on and helpful, but to see this "silent shave" was a bit closer to a "hands-on" shave in Geo's shoes, identifying with you and feeling the effect, exceptional audible feedback, as well. Thanks for being such a generous trainer/teacher, Geo. Watching you and also Anthony Esposito, I especially get demonstrations and ideas to help me progress in this worthwhile challenge. Take care, Geo. Very best wishes.
Thanks Martin, This was a "shut up and shave" moment for me. My thinking was that viewers could stop anywhere along the way to see the technique, then move along to the next step. Some razors require a bit more concentration to wield properly, this is one of them.
@@geofatboy Geo, this "silent one" was/is a very successful and effective video. "Thinking outside the box," in a way, made for a shake'em up change of pace. I will watch this one more and, with just the concentrated connection and focus of my eyes with my brain, absorb better what's directly demonstrated. Thanks again, Geo, they're all winners, but this one, as I said, presented a change of pace. Catch you later. Ciao.
You make it look so easy. It takes me forever to shave with a straight. I notice you don't do much skin stretching. I'll keep practicing but I gotta say I don't think I will ever get that slick
Mark DiLuciano You will. Gotta stay consistent (~2-3 shaves/week w/straight razor). It might take a few months, but you'll soon be able to shave quickly and smoothly.
In one of his videos he mentioned 100 shaves. Haven't started straight razor yet, but considering it. I just started back with DE after several decades :)
Hi Mark, There is a bit of a learning curve to it. Just like any other learned skill... Some people take to it right away and others need more time and practice. Everyone's different. But once you get it, you get it!
Great video with the MOASR! Awesome editing and with the zen-like music in the background, too. I can fair imagine you doing your best Crocodile Dundee. "That's not a straight razor." "That's a straight razor." :)
Nice one. Next, you should do a video about the Futur loaded with a Feather at 6. I personally got a few excellent bbs shaves without any weepers out of it.
Hey Geo Fat Boy I just picked up the Shave Nation lather bowl and the Shave Nation Chrome lather brush. I used them on my evening Shave tonight and I LOVE them that brush feels awesome I love the weight and the lather bowl is pretty slick as well love the products love the videos man thanks for what you do. #SHAVENATION
Geo, I like the theme background and good job with the single edge. I have been using cold rinses after each lathering with better results on final result BBS, have you tried this. Your beard is much coarser than my wiskers.
Thanks Geo I watched that film just a few days ago(I have lots of time nowadays) and it was a good one for a laugh and I still use cold water rinses and don't regret it at all. Learned a lot from ya. All the best
I guess I was going for the zen-like relaxing type background music on this one. Yeah, what can I say, I'd love to use more fitting music but you can get slapped with a copyright claim so you gotta use what's available and royalty free... Some head bangin' heavy metal might be much better...
I think peope needs to understund that by shaving yourself you can t get any closer shave with straight razor over double edge. You just do this for fun 😉
Sound feedback from the hollow ground is amazing. You make it look so easy Geo.

Holy Smoke Geo - you make it look so easy.

I received my Spartacus 7/8th today had the first shave with it. What a beast.
A thing of beauty!
@@geofatboy Not bad at shaving neither Geo I can assure you, but you already know that one.

CLASSIC! Love it! Kirk Douglas was the original Spartacus, had the cleft in his chin too!

Thanks! Great idea Steve, maybe I gotta work that into an upcoming video!
Gorgeous razor!!
Thanks Adam! It's one that you want to just put in a glass case and admire!
Nice one.

Thank you for the suggestion. I think I already have that video uploaded. Check here: shavenation.com/collections/adjustable
Hail Caesar, I want a Spartacus!
Knowing that this is how they shaved in 180 AD makes the whole experience even more appealing and satisfying!
This has awesomeness written all over it! Great video! :)
Love it Sam! Thank you very much!

Thanks very much for your kind words and support Terry!
This. Is. SPARTA!!!!!! Lol great shave as always bro!
Love it! I gotta go watch that movie now!
geofatboy It's a great movie brother!
Can the decor spine be serviced just as a holow spine, when sharpening?
Nice shave Geo. Your first version 9years ago that was 6 minutes, no talking and rock music has 325,000 views!🤔😏
FYI Thiers Issard is prononced something like "Tee-air Issar". The 'h' and the 'd' are mute. Your videos are nice, keep them coming!
Who made your shave brush? It looks pretty sweet and how do you get such a good lather?
Geo, I like the theme background and good job with the single edge.
I have been using cold rinses after each lathering with better results on final result BBS, have you tried this. Your beard is much coarser than my wiskers.
Thanks for the suggestion Ron- I actually have a video where I do the entire shave with ice water: ruclips.net/video/d-z07wbmdOg/видео.html

Well done geo
Thank you Johnny!
Great video - thanks!
Thanks much Gary!
What happened to your geobowl
Geo Bowl? goo.gl/TtpWBE
The one on the website looks different the one on the video that geo used has a squared end the one on the web site has a round end
You can choose The hook or round Spartacus here: goo.gl/rHhzNr
geofatboy Oh ok i see thanks
Much better with the Taxxi soundtrack.
Spartacus and... Chinese music, rock on \m/ :))

Good sound the straight razor 😎
Thanks Antonio, I have some ASMR fans out there! That sound of whiskers being sliced off=music to the ears!
Is it a barber notch or round point? The video looks like barber notch but the other pictures on the web site look like a round point.
You can choose whichever Spartacus you want: goo.gl/rHhzNr
You should prep your beard using a face wash and a preshave
starlodear You seen his other videos?
Yes, but on what video did he use a preshave?
Thanks for the tip, you can see me doing that in quite a few of my 150 other videos: goo.gl/1KtBAf
👍🏻💈
Thanks David! Take care Bro!
Well Geo, guess i'm going have to break down , buy a camera & show you how to shave with a straight :-).....K
If you have a cell phone you don't need to go buy a camera. Do you own the Spartacus? If not here you go: goo.gl/rHhzNr
That blade is not sharp enough.
That's one expensive razor.
True, but ain't she a BEAUTY?!
