    I absolutely love that you shared this story. Not everything is going to go the way you plan and sharing the good and not so good moments gives a balance to the reality of life. I had to scan the other comments to make sure folks were being kind and was happy to see that they were overwhelmingly supportive. It says a lot to who the two of you are and the respect people have for you. Feeling embarrassed and showing humility equates to integrity in my eyes and that is nothing to be embarrassed about

      We are really glad we ended up sharing it too! As we stood on that oyster bed and were freaking out, we were like "well this sucks, now the vlog is ruined," but as our situation improved and we got help, we figured if anything, we could teach one person to not take their inflatable kayak there haha. Thankfully everyone has been very kind (no blocking trolls yet!) and we are very glad that we are okay and beyond grateful for those who helped us! Thanks for always being so supportive Jymn!

    WOW what a story! So glad that you guys are safe! Don't be embarrassed of this story. Things happen during adventures, and we have had our fair share of that. Definitely take it as a learning experience. We got stuck in the snow stranded on a mountain a couple of weeks ago after pulling off to the side and were so embarrassed because we should have known better (no 4 wheel drive). You definitely have helped us because we own that same kayak and will be more safe when we use it!

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  3 года назад

      Oh gosh, glad y'all are okay! That is another fear of ours and it's funny because we went into this weekend thinking our biggest concern was getting stuck in the sand...little did we know haha! Were y'all able to get help and get out quickly? And our biggest tip for the kayak is to just make sure things are deeper than 6 inches lol. Normally this is not an issue, since we kayak in lakes and areas with predictable water levels, but if you're kayaking anywhere with a tide, or with sharp bottoms, maybeeee skip it!

    With as much traveling as you both do, this was just a little bit of life catching up. I'm surprised in many of your videos by some of the hikes you take, crossing boulder fields, inclines/declines, crossing moving water on logs, yet it all is smooth and perfect, so this made us all relate to you a little bit better. I'm so glad you shared when things didn't go as planned and how beautifully you both handled it. And, it was still a great video!

    Ever since the Q&A video where you hinted something happened on this trip, I've been waiting for this one. My prediction going into it was you parked too close to the water, but when you woke the next morning not surrounded by the sea it was a mystery going forward 🤣 If I'd been in your shoes (which picturing it I so easily could have been. This is totally the sort of thing I'd be up for, thinking no need for a guide, the water's placid enough) I'd have been feeling just as embarrassed as you described. Yet it's funny how when you look at a situation from the outside, it's never as bad and you don't need to be embarrassed. I'm sure we all have a story like this to tell, and if we don't, either that person is lying, or their disaster is yet to happen to them 😉
    Loved the storytelling, I was very much hooked from start to end. Pleased your both safe and I hope your feet have healed okay - I imagine the salt water on the cuts was pretty rough!

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  3 года назад

      It's so funny because going into the weekend we researched a ton about how to not get stuck on sand, tide levels, and even bought wood to park on to avoid what we thought was the worst that could happen to us. Looking back we laugh at how that part turned out totally fine and it was the kayaking that did us in! 🤣
      Here's to hoping this is our one disaster story we will ever have to share! We are laughing now just thinking about how wild it was and how lucky we got. And thankfully our feet have heeled up and we didn't get any weird infections (we cleaned the cuts out ASAP upon returning to the van). 🙌

    My family traveled to the Keys over Christmas break and while we were there we took a boat tour of the Everglades... they said then that the tide was the lowest they had ever seen and they were extra careful getting the boat out to where the water was deeper. So crazy. We did get to see dolphins though, so that was super cool! :)

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  3 года назад

      Oh no! I'd be extra scared to get stuck where there are gators haha! Was it one of the air boats? They almost sent an air boat to rescue us from the oyster bed because it could handle lower water better. And we failed to mention it in the video (because it was chaotic haha), but Adam saw a dolphin once we got on the Game Warden's boat. I missed it, but he was stoked!

    • @melissafrye76
      @melissafrye76 3 года назад

      It wasn't an airboat but one of the bigger tour boats that can carry groups of people. (Due to COVID there were less than 20 of us on board.) We were touring the part of the Everglades that meets the Gulf of Mexico - so lots of little 'Keys' and Mangrove islands.
      On the same trip we kayaked Biscayne Bay National Park and although it was crazy windy - and my kayak flipped - I was thankful that the water wasn't super deep (because of the flipping part.) :) I couldn't believe how shallow the water was on that side of Florida too - I think I just have always expected that where shore meets ocean (or gulf), things would get deeper faster!

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  3 года назад +1

      Oh wow! I bet that was an awesome boat ride! And you flipped your kayak?! Ahh that is a fear of mine! And we agree--we would've thought these lakes would've been a lot higher, especially considering how deep the ship channel was (or at least it seemed deep since HUGE boats go on it). We definitely learned a new lesson to check water levels better!

    Great video guys. Lots of fun with you two. Do yourself a favor and get one of those little tire inflators and next time you camp on the beach, deflate your tires about 15-20psi and you’ll get through fine. When you get back to pavement, air them back up to full pressure.
