Interesting story: When the song was initially released, several critics asserted that the song was actually a metaphor for sex. The last person to figure this out was Melanie herself -- she'd written it with the intention that it was only literal, and never thought about the lyrics being interpreted that way!

The SM7b is actually a dynamic mic, albeit with a more condenser-like character. Still, you don't often see them being used handheld either.
