Does he write songs? No. He won't be unless he does that. Talent in terms of covering is common, talent in terms of writing is not as much (and therefore is more desirable).

@@TeamPill Neither did Elvis and he's still called The King. It's more to do with being identified as performing original material than being a songwriter yourself.
He has a weak voice. That run he did when they were announcing the tour dates was not sung very well compared to how thousands of others make it ring out. Also during the song it sounds like his comfortable range is very short and he doesn't know how to or not able to add flourishes and qualities to the notes to make your skin tingle.
To each his own. He’s a great in all of my books and his talent is undeniable!

Years ago I met with speech pathologist Antwaun Stanley. And I mentioned that he should consider to sing. He laughed and I gave him my email. Years later I received an email from Antwaun saying he would like to sing. With no thought I sent the Vulfpeck and a camera crew. The results? Remarkable.
