This brought back childhood memories of sucking the honey out of the flowers. Never heard of making tea out of it though. Now I’ll have to find me some honeysuckle! Love & Hugs from Ft. Worth, Texas!
StephT5 - I haven’t but I haven’t been looking. I’m gonna start though. Lol. Actually, I really can’t drive anymore & unable to get out much. I had it on my fence at the first house I bought. I was 26 & I’m 67 now, so that’s 41 years ago. You just don’t see it around like you did back then. Let me know if you find some. Nice to see a fellow Texan on here.
I am just north of you guys in Decatur (Wise county) and this year we had a honeysuckle bush pop up along the driveway! I have seen it up here a few places out on country roads
vmorganbogart I know there’s not a reason for it not to be around here! 😁 I’m almost 57, there used to be a lot of flowering vines around this area. It doesn’t seem that long ago that you’d see flowering vines at the base of a lot of the electric poles.
I just found out about Honeysuckle tea, thank you for showing how to make it! Your son and grandchildren were all so cute in this video. You have a lovely family, I'll be watching more of your videos!
I have fond memories of those little drops of sweetness in honeysuckle from growing up. I'm just getting in to different teas and read about using blackberry leaves which would help make the wild blackberries even more useful that we have here
That brought back some memories! You used to do what Wyatt was doing....picking and sucking the juice out of it lol That tea looked very good. Wish I had tried it while we were there tonight! I need me some of that mint for my water!!! Loved the video!
I live in town but I have a large honey suckle bush in my yard. Sucked on the flowers as a child but never tried a tea out of it. Will have to give it a try.
I love her tiny little fairy voice! 💓 Makes my ovaries ache, lol! I haven't had honeysuckle tea since I was a kid, gonna go forage me some suckle and wild blackberries today and make a batch!
Looks yummy! Wish I had honeysuckle plants. I live in northern Saskatchewan Canada and we have lots of other good plants to forage that are medicinal👍😊 thanks for sharing and ❤️ your vlogs👍
Omg. I have a huge bush of honeysuckle that I had no idea what it was until your video! I love that bush though because it smells like vanilla ice cream. Now I know it’s a honeysuckle!! Thank you!!
Have you ever made Honeysuckle jam?...ITS SO YUMMY...But takes a lot of picking. I love to smell honeysuckle I plan on planting it all over the place. I know it's considered invasive but it can INVADE me all it wants...LOL Good job.
You have so much honeysuckle! I actually thought we had a bunch of weeds growing on my fence but now I think it's honeysuckle it just started to bloom last few days .how do you eat the flowers like the kids were doing ? I make a lavender lemonade it's so good !
Lemon water is not only pretty and flavorful, but an excellent way to rid your body of toxins and good for other medicinal purposes. I love your videos . You are such a nice, fun family and I have learned from as well! God bless.
We have it growing like crazy here. Gonna go forage this weekend and see what else I can find on our place, God Bless yall for sharing this with us all
I have never seen a honeysuckle bush and never ever knew it grew as a bush. We have the vine and they grow like crazy, not as fast as kudzu but it is on every fence post in the south. LOL Steep. With your Kentucky accent, I didn't hear the t so I thought you were saying seep. lol! I am going to have to try that tea!
Gail Elwood it’s so funny that you mentioned the accent because I was actually watching this video and thinking how I didn’t really think they had much of one! Lol Then again my husband grew up in the deep hills of Eastern Kentucky so his accent is thick enough I’ve had to translate for him before. 😂
Love my honeysuckle which is just now starting to bloom here in indiana...tell dad try not to stick flowers in nobody's ear..lol Keep on seeping (steeping)..lol Definitely going to try this with mint added..
I remember as kids we couldn't wait til the honeysuckle bloomed. It was like the best treat. This tea looks so refreshing. I can't wait to try it and other teas. I'm really inspired to get into foraging and herbs. Thank you for lighting that fire ❤
Steep is the word. 😁 That sounds so yummy. I love the yellow honeysuckle. I didn't realize it was good for tea and medicinal. Appreciate the info. Now to find a start that wasn't grown with chemicals. Hope hope. ❤
Oh, that looks so good!! I'd never heard of making tea with honeysuckle. If I can find some honeysuckle nearby, I'm going to try making some myself. Thanks for letting us know about this! Is this something that would be just as tasty when warm? Take care and God bless!
I love how she was so literal-"in your ear"!!! Love honeysuckle... :) Did your tea steep or seep? Jenn, if you have a canning jar funnel, you can just put the filter in the funnel. Less mess :) Lots of building yet to come!
That sounds great! I'm going to try that tomorrow. I've been harvesting honeysuckle and didn't know what to do with it. Do you ever dehydrate any honeysuckle?
Honeysuckle or the smell of a new (clean) baby.. I can't decide which is more heavenly.... Honeysuckle doesnt grow naturally here in New Mexico so I purchased 2 plants and I am hoping they grow.
Hello, thank you for the information but, I just wonder if I can use one plant that is growing with a poison ivy in my backyard? I really get a bad allergy reaction to the poison ivy.
do u not use a microwave?wish I had a cook wood stove, my parents use one in their early years ,never had honeysuckle tea, but sounds good, we ate honeysuckles when we were young, love to smell them outside.
Sorry, I didn't explain it correctly; what I mean was that the honeysuckle was antwan with poison ivy plants. Still safe for me to use the honeysuckle.
Just a heads up about an article that someone shared on facebook as we were talking about honeysuckle. RED CORAL HONEYSUCKLE IS SUPPOSEDLY TOXIC. ALSO CHECK OUT ALL HONEYSUCKLE AS ITS TOXIC TO CERTAIN ANIMALS TO DIFFERENT DEGREES. i havent researched all the specifics but its important to understand that different animals cannot all have the same things as people. And also theres many varieties of things and some can be toxic to different degrees.
Thank you so much for sharing this idea about honeysuckle tea! I have a honeysuckle tree that produces coral colored flowers and it smells so good. My flowers have all dried up but, I will try this with the leaves. How much honey do you add to a gallon of tea? I'm glad you have access to free pallets! YAY! A lot of people are breaking them down to use for wall panelling that looks good once it's stained and varnished. They are good for floors to make a porch. I've also seen whole ones on floors under shelves in greenhouses to make it easier on the back to tend to plants in flowerpots. I'm looking forward to seeing what yaw do with them. Peace and Love
Pretty flower 🌼 you want daddy to put it in your ear Rea Rea: WHAT? starts to put it in her ear, Daddy: not in your ear Lol! So adorable. I love you guys. 🌹🌻🌼🌷⚘❤🙏 nice video.
Great idea!
I'm gonna try it 👍👍👍😍
Excited to try this. Great video.

I wonder if it would be sweeter with just the flowers?
Maybe!
I've not heard of this tea. May have to go pick some and try it. Thanks for sharing!
Very interesting. I remember spending lots and lots of time sucking on honeysuckle flowers as a child‼️
yum!
Thanks have all kinds outback, from Lexington Ky...will try
I’m going to have to find me some honeysuckle 😊
One of my favorite childhood memories! Grandma's honeysuckle bushes were always loaded( not so much after 10 grandkids got done, though, lol!)
Here in western PA, we have something that looks like honeysuckle but it has no flavor! I miss it!
Oh my now I need to buy a honeysuckle! 😀
I had no idea! I’ve had a honeysuckle at home for years!! Yaya! 😍
Looks super refreshing! Thanks for sharing Jenn! You are adorable. Blessings 💗🌷💗

Yes! Plus extra bonus as warm is it soothes the throat if dealing with cold/sinus
@@StiversHomestead Very good to know! Much thanks!
I just picked some today wondering if I could make tea with it!! Thank you so much for sharing!
*waves* hi from northern Minnesota.... have really enjoyed your channel
Well thank you :).
I love how she was so literal-"in your ear"!!! Love honeysuckle... :) Did your tea steep or seep? Jenn, if you have a canning jar funnel, you can just put the filter in the funnel. Less mess :)
Lots of building yet to come!
Yes. We use a canning funnel and a mesh strainer.
Your never too old to enjoy honeysuckle, Boy Oh Boy, the memories came flooding in. Sure wish I had a glass, looks delicious
Hey guys! So I just made the tea, and the flavor is really yummy, but the after taste has somewhat of a bitter taste. Did you get that also?
Is that tree or vine honeysuckle?
Is that just the standard wild honeysuckle vine?
Yup! Grows like wild fire around here
That sounds great! I'm going to try that tomorrow. I've been harvesting honeysuckle and didn't know what to do with it. Do you ever dehydrate any honeysuckle?

I think you need one of those plastic diffusion cylinders from Wally World and you forgot the fenugreek!
I have to hunt some honey suckles down!
Do you make honeysuckle jelly? I thought I might like to make a small batch. Thanks for sharing!
p.s. I love me some honeysuckle, in moderation of course and will be trying my hand at your tea Mrs. Stivers, very soon! :-)
do u not use a microwave?wish I had a cook wood stove, my parents use one in their early years ,never had honeysuckle tea, but sounds good, we ate honeysuckles when we were young, love to smell them outside.
We do have a microwave but try not to use it to much. In the winter we love to use our wood burning stove as much as possible
Sorry, I didn't explain it correctly; what I mean was that the honeysuckle was antwan with poison ivy plants. Still safe for me to use the honeysuckle.
If you are allergic to poison ivy and it’s been rubbing on the honeysuckle it would probably be best to stay away from the suckle unfortunately
Thank you for taking the time to get back to my questions. God bless you.

What's this kind of honeysuckle pleasE? It looks like a tree, here in Europe i know honeysuckles are bushes.
Oh man! I want a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirt.😁
That looked delicious. Now I just have to find some honeysuckle :(
how do you know which honeysuckle is safe?
steep not seep but it works lol
can u do this with any honey suckle?
I’ve only ever done it with wild honeysuckle
Do you sweeten with anything?
Nope but I bet a little honey would go a long way and give a little extra sweetness.
