- I WON A BOTTLE OF LONGROW!
Well, I entered a ballot and won the opportunity to buy it...and here it is!
The 2024 release of Longrow Red has been matured for four years in ex-bourbon casks, then transferred into single estate French Pinot Noir casks for three years.
Bottled at 57.1%, natural colour and non chill filtered, this is first cask strength Longrow that I'll ever get to work with in a bottle. Seeing how it develops and opens over time. When it was first cracked it had no sweetness at all, thankfully it has gained some nice red fruit and caramel notes - with the smoke playing a rather subtle role further back on the palate.
Check the video out and tell me what you think about this years release. Is it better or the same, or worse as others?
Big thanks to Royal Mile Whiskies for putting on a ballot so I could get this!
Cheers!

For these Longrow reds I always enjoy them but I never get blown away by them. Always solid drams with some nice cask play though. Cheers!
Yeah. That's a solid summary. I'd rather have a Springbank 10YO if I had the choice.
Thank you for relieving my FOMO 😅 Great review. Great notes. Cheers, Phil!
Cheers, man!
Thanks for the review again. I’d call it price gauging at $500 (£263) a bottle in Australia. Your review is the closest I’ll get. 🙃
Price gauging at its finest there. Never pay that for it. Let it gather dust.
Great review. Didn't manage to get hold of one, but nice to see an open bottle! The SB 10's go for around retail on auction these days. Plenty of them! Cheers!
Yeah, I just refuse to use auctions sites. I feel any sale through them still funds their existence. But it is a buyers market, for sure.
Rarely ever see any Longrow in Az usa….
As always love the simplicity of this channel Phil…lets the liquid shine!!
Rarity over here, too, man. Didn't think I'd ever own one of these. If I could do fancy editing, I would. But there's no need for this. Always keep it simple.
Terrific thoughts! I am right in agreement with @whiskyenthusiast!
Same!
I still have a couple of drams of the 10 year Malbec finish from a few years back that cost way too much. Good stuff, but not worth $160 USD. The Longrow Red series is becoming too expensive for the liquid in the bottle, scarcity be damned.
Agreed. It's fun, but even at £70 I'm struggling to warrant it. 10,000 bottles is quite a lot of bottles. Watching them sell for under/at rrp on auction is quite funny.
Nice one getting a bottle, I entered the same one but wasn't successful with any of the bottles. Really hoping the auction market for the Springbank releases dies off so I can start buying these at retail.
The 10's are back down to RRP now, minus the fees you'll have to pay if you win. But if prices drop on the 15's then there is sanity back in the world.
🔥🔥🔥
Cheers, Rob
This perhaps confirms my fear on this bottle. It’s not like I’ll be able to pick one up at this point, but past releases of Longrow Red have been some of my favorite bottles.
I wonder if this is them trying to reduce some hype (a 15 would sell on secondary for twice the price but a similar retail), or perhaps they had fewer options because of the impact from the pandemic.
I hope so. This is perfectly fine whisky, but not mind-blowing. If the price on Springbank 15 drops to £75/£80 in auction then sanity is back in the world.
I can buy this bottle for 100 eur. But lagg corrieceavie for 50 eur. now. I think i already know which one you would buy
