- What are the most essential books for small business owners and entrepreneurs that teach how to run a business effectively?
I’m so glad you asked because I happen to know some of the most essential books for small business owners that you NEED to read. Did you know that Bill Gates reads around 50 books a year? He isn’t the only high-flying businessman who reads as though their life depends on it. Warren Buffett reads between five and six hours a day while Elon Musk reads two books per day. Do you see where I’m going with this?
Successful people read. Reading is vital for personal growth. Oh, and it can also help you learn how to run, manage, and grow a successful business. However, with thousands of essential books for entrepreneurs to choose from (and limited time to read them all), what books should you add to your must-read list?
Watch this video to find out!
In this video I cover:
• Why it’s important to read books that teach you how to run a business effectively
• Four of the top business books that every small business owner and entrepreneur should read
• My E-Myth review, Scaling Up review, Rocket Fuel review, and Traction book review
• A secret bonus book recommendation that can help you scale your business lightning-fast!

Depends upon work, thanks man for sharing
Love every time you presented the books.... I will start reading...😊
I love your content. Your so informative. Even with being a business owner and one who gets overwhelmed. I love the way you bring it back to basic.
I'm currently living with my parents and I disturb them all day by telling what I read everyday . I think unknowingly it is a great way to remember what you read. And now I’m currently about 80% through "Playbook to Millions by Grant Cardone. I have read a lot of entrepreneurial books and self improvement books, and this book is my absolute favorite. This book is extraordinary and really gets you to work extremely hard toward your goals in life and succeed at multiple different areas like personal finance, business and career. This is an absolute must buy if you need a push to get you going in business or you want more out of life.
Yes it is a great book for serious mindset change. Would you like me to review it in a future video?
@@CEOEntrepreneur Yes that would be great
This year I think Profit First has been one of many I've enjoyed.
Thanks Justina... Profit First is an awesome book and is a way to help you manage your cashflow. It is a must read indeed :) How many of the books in the video have you read?
Very good
The way you think is enlightening. Thanks for your videos
My pleasure!
Thanks for the recommendations. I've been incorporating an extra half hour of reading to my morning routine recently. WIll pick up one of these as my next read!
You’re welcome Coen! Thanks for your comment. Reading is one of the best ways for us to level up, so doing it as part of your morning routine is awesome! I’ll be doing more book recommendations for other aspects needed in growing a business, so hopefully you’ve subscribed. 🙂
Thank you for this great video
Here's the new lineup as I see it, based on my expertise and business success. 1. "The E-Myth" 2. "Scaling Up" 3. "Who" 4. "Top Grading" 5. "Profit First". Read these and you don't need to waste your time reading Traction, Rocket fuel or Blitz Scaling.
Good stuff as usual! I have all but two of them. On Traction right now. You have such great info. You should write one.
Thanks 🙏 I have been told this several times… A book is planned but I need to follow my own advice and focus on one thing at a time 😅. For now, it’s been the RUclips channel… when that is on autopilot (as much as it can be), my focus will go towards a book.. what would you like to see in a book from me?
I have always had a habit of collecting books and never reading them. I guess I will start reading.
Reading is one of the best ways to upskill … I struggle with reading sometimes due to time so I opt for audiobooks and listen to those whenever I can
Your dedication is imperative for the growth of any company. I loved your excellent talk on scaling up and how to make it Thank you for your efforts and your advice .
You're welcome!
Thank you so much 💓 💗 💛 💖 ☺️
You are so welcome
I'm really enjoying your RUclips channel. I've read many business books but recently read E-Myth Revisited. I am now listening to everything PROCESSES. We are a small successful 3 person business that has very true processes and is constantly overwhelming. I'm glad to have found your company. I'm looking to engage you and Michael Gerber's company to see who would be the best fit to coach us. I'm very tired of doing everything and understand the value of processes and hiring more people but I'm afraid to take those next steps. I look forward to contacting you in the new year and again thank you for your great content.
Thank you for your kind words. Yes look forward to our chat in the new year... in the meantime have a great end of the year, Xmas, and new year! Hope you're going to take a break?
I was lucky enough to hire an integrator as my first team member (before I'd ever heard the term). All of a sudden, things just began to function, and projects started getting done 😅. Excellent content, by the way. All extremely helpful and informative! Your channel will 20X in size soon if you keep this up!
Thanks for sharing, that's awesome! So important to have the right people in our business. And thanks for the support!
Thank you!!!!!!
Welcome!
You are awesome! You have the best ideas
Thank you! 😊
Super duper ❤️
Systemology book is great ☺️
It sure is!
The cheesy book presentations got me...hehehhe Lol
I appreciate you finding humour in my videos, thanks for watching!
@@CEOEntrepreneurI like that too! Doing it once in a while, would really be nice!
Thank you
You're welcome!
Great recommedations
Glad you like them! and thank you for your comment... It means a lot and helps the channel :)
Also, absolutely loved the humour!
🙈
Sir please make video on business mindset books
You are the best
Thank you 🙏. Takes one to know one
Tamer, we need an updated book video please :D!!!!
Will do!
This video is really really wonderful !
Thank you Mohamed! Let us know if there are particular books you'd like us to review in the future
@@CEOEntrepreneur The Lean Startup - The Hard Thing About Hard Things - Think & Grow Rich - From Good to Great
Awesome books ... they will be appearing in a future video in the series. Stay tuned!
Only powerful entrepreneurs who are able to hit the takeaway messages from book and extract the knowledge from it. Very insightfull review!
Looking forward for the next Wednesday topic 😀
Thank you Omar... hope you liked it. I didn't want to do a normal book review but order the books as a journey for the entrepreneur to run and grow their small business effectively :)
Please don't kill me read 2 books a day? No no maybe the book is just 5 pages
Loving the humour (us brits got to stick together 💪🏻) awesome recommendations. Just something I noticed but there were some things repeated in different words so made my attention drift towards the end of each book explanation. PS I don't like reading so will listen to people that have read them 😅
Yes this is something I’m trying to balance... I hear from some audiences that repetition is good for reassurance and also people absorb information in different ways so trying to get these different ways in so one of them hopefully hits home... But you’re also right, repetition can also make people lose focus / patience / sanity... 😅 so I’ll try to keep them lean in future and see how that plays out! Thanks again for the constructive comments!
@@CEOEntrepreneur well if your target audience is people like me (short attention span) maybe adjust things but if it is for more 'professional' people it looks good 😁
So far it’s been umm totally ‘professional’... Yep let’s go with that 😅. Moving forward it will be for everyone, including dory 🐟 😆 so yeah have to keep it lean and totally mean.
@@CEOEntrepreneur love it 💕😁
Good
Agree with all except blitz scaling. It SUCKS. Of course that's just MY personal opinion. Also there's an audio book called "SCALING". it is AMAZING for giving AMAZING little "systems hacks" for small business that are ACTUALLY APPLICABLE in REAL TIME for a business owner of ANY SIZE.
Thanks Tigrey! Blitz scaling was not one of the main books I was recommending. It was a bonus read and the reason I added it here is it’s always good to see that you can sometimes break the rules and take risks. It’s not meant as a guide for running a typical business. I Will check out the audio book you recommend.
Have you ready E Myth Mastery The Seven Essential Disciplines for Building a World Class Company? I just bought it but have not read it. I understand that it's similar to Traction in regards to setting up processes. If you have read it which is a better recommendation as I look to build processes into my company?
I have read it yes... It's good, but as an overall 'Operating System' for your business, I think Traction is simpler to grasp initially. I think both compliment each other as they approach things from slightly different perspectives. Neither are perfect and in every case, you will need to adapt things to work for you and your business. Have you watched our 1hr business masterclass on the channel? If not, here's a link ( ruclips.net/video/c2VY3zubZkY/видео.html ) as I think it will give you a framework to adopt and adapt and then you can pick different tools for each part of the framework. Let me know how you get on! Would you like me to cover more books in another video?
Thank you for the insight on both books. After watching your book review I did watch a few reviews on Traction. I finally purchased an audiobook subscription and I'm listening to the E-Myth book and we'll listen to Traction next. I'm really enjoying perspective of the second E Myth. However, understanding the premise of each book I still believe I'm going to need some one-on-one consulting for my company to get processes in place and learn how to run the business with the future in mind rather than head down and working my tail off day in and day out. I have watched I believe every single one of your videos except the one hour master class. I will definitely do that. As far as another video on recommended books for small business entrepreneurs absolutely! for a few years now I've been a huge fan of Dave Ramsey and the circle of businesses similar to his like Donald Miller (Business Made Simple) and Patrick Lencioni. Unfortunately none of the books, including Donald Miller's business made simple, don't offer quite the same practical application as the E Myth books and your company do. Thank you for making time to reply to my initial comment.
10 -20 books a week?🤔
